Different cultures

[edit]

Just wanted to add a factoid I find interesting to the question you made here about cultures that accept pornographic matterial in public medium. In late 1900, early 2000, Swedish public and state funded TV station had shows about sex education, and also showed films that was banned in UK and US for being too pornographic. On other hand, same TV station banned most action movies becuase they had too much violence, including the cartoon show Darkwing Duck, and also banned any form of advertising. Even today there is a ban on any advertising about alcohol because they are considered too dangerous to the publics health. I hope you find that factoid as interesting as I :). I am fully aware of that, but it doesn't address my point. If I yank out my hard cock on the streets of Stockholm and shoot my cum onto random passers-by, I will get arrested. Please tell me that's a correct assessment. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 15:13, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ofcourse, sexual acts performed in public areas are illegal, and sexually assaulting people has even higher penalty. But showing a cock on TV, something that is strangly common in reality shows, is not illegal, even on national TV paid and supported by taxes. Anyway, just wanted to tell the factiod. If you found it intersting/new, then nice, if not, then owell :). Belorn (talk) 15:50, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Update*, when thinking about it, it is quite interesting that being naked in a public street is illegal, but if I take a human sized image of a naked person and place that on the street, its not illegal and would most likely be called art. When I think of it, I have even seen that in stockholm a few years ago :). It is a strange world we live in. Belorn (talk) 15:58, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

[edit]

Thanks for clearing up the "officialness" of my statement on that RfC. Ajraddatz (Talk) 04:47, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. People here tend to hear "sysop" and get all bow-down-and-pray. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 04:50, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Or in this case, find someone to scapegoat it would seem... Ajraddatz (Talk) 05:55, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Santorum (disambiguation)‎‎

[edit]

I'm unclear on what basis you think that the link santorum (neologism) ought not appear on Santorum (disambiguation)‎‎. WP:MOSDAB says that redirects are fine on a disambiguation, and also says that the format for entries is to be articlename, explanatory text in preference to explanatory text articlename. It also says that term (disambiguator) is a preferred entry. So, what are your thoughts? Josh Parris 08:33, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My thoughts are to a) wait until the deletion discussion is over, and then b) talk about the whole deal maybe at MOS. This whole thing is quite an exceptional, weird situation: Santorum (neologism) was moved because it was deemed a BLP-violation, and then someone goes ahead and creates a two-entry dab-page just so that their BLP-violation gets more prominence... Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 21:41, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, raise it at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Disambiguation pages when it's all quietened down; as usual I'll be around. Josh Parris 03:39, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Closed

[edit]

Hey Seb, such closing of discussions as you performed on Talk:Genesis creation narrative is probably best left for fora like ANI--this is not typically done on regular article talk pages. There is no need for it anyway; you can just let it die a natural death. It's going nowhere anyway. Ahem, also--that editor placing an edit-warring template here, that's not vandalism, even if it is desperate and bone-headed. Thanks, and I wish you many happy creations. Have an opinion about deletion notifications?

[edit]

Hey there. I just saw your comments on the Village Pump thread about AfD etc. and wanted to say...

While I do agree with DGG's feelings about more manual/human communication, if you have any feelings about the matter, we're using A/B testing to try and improve the current AFD, PROD, and eventually CSD notifications. If you want to take a look at the templates and give us some feedback here, that would be super helpful (see "templates tested" for a look at the different messages).

We have some distilled recommendations for next tries at new notifications for both PROD and AFD, which we will be publishing in a more succinct list soon. (Notes are on Meta, if you're interested.) Let me know if want to stay updated on the matter.

Can you let the bots do the archiving on the obama page? I didn't check, and I'm sure you did it correctly, but there is no rush and it triggered a "why would you do that" in my head. :) Arkon (talk) 05:36, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

the bots sometimes take too long and thus won't prevent drama and trolling :) Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 05:40, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
