Image copyright problem with Image:Rcpl facade1.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Rcpl facade1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 01:24, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Redwood city public library, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Where Anne hath a will, Anne Hathaway. 01:26, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Duplicate images uploaded
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:RCPL facade.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Rcpl facade1.jpg. The copy called Image:Rcpl facade1.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 01:30, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:840781685 36268f2379.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:840781685 36268f2379.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Copyright problem: Redwood city public library
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Redwood city public library, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.rcpl.info/services/library_history.html, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Redwood city public library and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Redwood city public library with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Redwood city public library.
It is also important that the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and that it follows Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at Talk:Redwood city public library/Temp. Leave a note at Talk:Redwood city public library saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! PMDrive1061 08:12, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- A claim of permission on the article's talk page is insufficient to verify licensure under the GFDL or the public domain, since the URL in question clearly states the material is copyrighted. As you were given instructions by PMDrive1061 to verify your assertion but did not do so after 12 days, the article was deleted. In the future, please follow Wikipedia's procedures for requesting copyright permission, and do not remove a {{copyvio}} template from an article. Removal of the tag does not remove the article from the investigation queue.
- You are encouraged to create a new article with freely-licensed content, and examples are available from the dozens of libraries with Wikipedia articles. Please do not add the copyrighted text again. Persistent violators of the copyright policy can be blocked from editing. Thank you. KrakatoaKatie 02:06, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
