Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Hi Scottydoug, I removed your link on Parakey again. As per Wikipdeia's external links policy, WP:EL,which says not to link to ... blogs and personal web pages, except those written by a recognized authority. and I also believe this applies Due to the rising profile of Wikipedia and the amount of extra traffic it can bring a site, there is a great temptation to use Wikipedia to advertise or promote sites... You should avoid linking to a website that you own, maintain or represent,. Cheers Philbentley 10:39, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Scottydoug, thank you for your email. Easier though if you just put a message on my talkpage instead. If you feel the article is biased then i suggest you added to it and make it such that it is no longer biased and presents a neutral view rather than just adding a link. As you're right it doesn't read very well at the momment and isn't particularly informative. However The comments i made earlier still apply, you're linking to a blog which is discouraged, the link itself is not providing any new information to the subject, that is any different to typing in "blog parakey" into google and reading the entries there and last but not least its clear you own the blog and maintain it. The guidelines say if you have such a webpage you should first put in the discussion page before it gets submitted into the article and not just add it yourself. Hope that clears up why I removed it. Making It In Hollywood

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Making It In Hollywood, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Fabrictramp 00:37, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add links to that website across multiple entries. It comes across as promotional of said site, and as such, not permitted. Thx. El_C 10:43, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have restored your article to User:Scottydoug/Making It In Hollywood for you to bring it up to scratch. As you have a conflict of interest please seek advice on the content before you move it to a real article. --Stephen 12:28, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Making it in hollywood, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Cind.amuse 09:47, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

The article UK Theatre Network has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Self-promotion page posted by editor directly involved in the site; same individual has also used Wikipedia for spam links, other promotional articles.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ckatzchatspy 10:08, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on UK Theatre Network requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
