Information icon Hello, I'm Magnolia677. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Boosie Badazz discography, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:03, 27 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Jabba

[edit]

Hello! I was wondering if you'd be open to having a friendly chat about Jabba the Hutt's family. (It's possible this is the first time that sentence has been written in the history of humanity).

Anywho, my rationale for removing most of the Hutt family from the infobox was based on the Wikipedia Manual of Style page on Infoboxes, specifically the "Purpose" section. This section states:

"The purpose of an infobox is to summarize, but not supplant, the key facts that appear in an article...The less information that an infobox contains, the more effectively it serves its purpose, allowing readers to identify key facts at a glance. Some infoboxes need to use more than a handful of fields, but information should be presented in a short format, wherever possible, and exclude unnecessary content."

Based on this guideline, I would say that, at most, the infobox should include only those Hutt family members which are discussed in the article. I would say that most of the Hutts currently listed don't qualify as "key facts" about Jabba, and the average reader is not going to find much use in them. If you think these family members are important, we should add content about them to the body of the article before adding them to the infobox. But those are just my thoughts. Please let me know what you think! Wafflewombat (talk) 01:58, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I do think they are Important to keep on the site. I don't think removing perfectly good information on Jabba especially since it been there for like around two years now. I think it is good information that should be in his bio. Schacabaca (talk) 19:37, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. I've created a talk page post, because I'm curious what other editors think. Wafflewombat (talk) 03:23, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again. Even if we don't agree on how many family members to include, we can ensure that all the ones we do include are properly cited. I've searched for mentions of all the family members in reliable sources such as the Star Wars Databank, The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, and other reliable sources on the web. I couldn't find reliable sources for a number of the Hutts, and I removed those from the page. If you would like to reinstate any of the ones I removed, please make sure to include citations to reliable sources. Please note that Wookieepedia is not a reliable source. So I like what you did... but just a quick question for such characters as Graballa from "Star Wars: Droidography" and Hiro from "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge". Why are those books not good sources just wondering. Schacabaca (talk) 03:40, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If those characters are mentioned in those books, then feel free to add them back to the infobox with citations. I didn't know those Hutts were mentioned in those books, and those books didn't come up when I Googled the names of the Hutts. Both books seem to be fine sources 🙂 Wafflewombat (talk) 04:27, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey again. Just a heads up, I added more information to the Droidography citation. For Hiro, we will need a citation to a reliable source stating the facts you put in the footnote. Where did you find the information about Hiro being first revealed in Galaxy's Edge and then hosting the Hutt Hour? Wafflewombat (talk) 07:18, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Connections of Galaxy’s Edge – Numidian Prime (wordpress.com) Schacabaca (talk) 17:21, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Got it. Unfortunately, this website appears to be a blog written by one person, and is therefore not deemed reliable by Wikipedia. The reason is that a blogger usually has nobody checking their work for accuracy. You can check out this page for more information. Examples of reliable sources include books published by a publishing company (as opposed to self-published), news websites, and content published by a company about a product. For example, if Disney or Lucasfilm has published content about Hiro on one of their websites, we can use that. We could also use a news article about Galaxy's Edge that mentions Hiro. The key factor is that the source clearly has multiple people providing editorial oversight and fact-checking. Wafflewombat (talk) 22:40, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
