Editors vs Edit warriors
An editor is creating and edit war script tool. Some people can't handle it when consensus goes against their own personal pov. And some editors take their agenda to the next level. Wiki is a funny place. 156.34.211.193 (talk) 10:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

- I don't think it's an edit war tool. I believe he is making it as a solution to all this infobox and genre delimiter issues. I believe he is trying to make a new type of infobox that we can all hopefully agree on. Anyways, it's too soon to say (or accuse him, either). AGF, 156 IP man. Y'know, Pat, you're cool and all and I respect you and to some degree the 156 IP man, but he pisses me OFF!! I just cannot get along with him! He insults me every time we talk and then he goes and encourages another IP, which he even knows is a sockpuppet and says as much, to go and revert my edits!!! I wanna keep the peace but he wants everything to be comma breaks and thinks I'm a total idiot. It's infuriating to argue with him! Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:53, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Have a look
Hi, Pat, how's it going? If you're not too wikibonked, have a look at WP:Administrators' noticeboard/3RR#User:Res Gestæ Divi Augusti reported by User:TheFEARgod (Result: 24 hours Re-opened: ). A user you blocked has been continuing to editwar after the block and has violated 3RR again. --Coppertwig (talk) 01:31, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Improving Star Wars to Featured Article status
I am currently working on improving Star Wars to Featured Article status, and I noticed that you have made a substantial amount of contributions recently. If you have time, I would appreciate it if you could help out and improve the article. Right now, the primary thing that needs to be done is the addition of more references - the article simply is not referenced enough. I have added {{fact}} tags on the page, which shows up as [citation needed]
to make it easier to find what information needs references. Thanks for your time! Gary King (talk) 04:03, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikibonked?
What in the world does wikibonked mean? Is it just for laughs, or is it true? I hope your head gets better if it's true. :(D)--RoryReloaded (talk) 20:37, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Bonked is a common expression meaning losing energy for something, or just being tired. If he's wikibonked, it means he's bonked from editing here, and he's taking a pseudo-wikibreak. [I must note that for someone who's bonked, he's been extraordinarily helpful to me.] :) Enigma message 20:48, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

User:Res Gestæ Divi Augusti
Thanks mate for stepping in. As you say, his contributions are good but he needs to learn to be quite a bit less aggressive about his edits, which quite often revert all intermediate edits since his previous contributions. Anyhow, no doubt you're onto it but the Res Gestæ Divi Augusti edits in dispute have all been reinstated by an IP. Unfortunately I don't think the block is getting the message though. Perhaps the articles in dispute need semi-protection? We'd all love to work with him, but he seems terminally unwilling to use talk pages. Debate (talk) 09:50, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Request for your review
I nominated List of universities in Bangladesh on 25 March 2008 as a Featured List candidate. So far, four editors reviewed the list and requested significant changes and modifications. I tried my level best to meet all the recommendations. It would be really nice if you also review the list and place your opinion (support/oppose). I am looking forward to receive your comments and recommendations on the nomination page. Cheers! -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 10:53, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Kameejl's javascript
Just so you know (as you mentioned you we're looking into it / having others look into it). Kameejl is continueing his JavaScript that will change commas to line breaks with some level of automation here. In case you missed my comment on his talk page before he erased it:
“ | I can tell you what it is (was), but you already assumed correctly. It provides a function that will search through all HTML table elements and replace, guess what, commas with line breaks in some instances (oh, which could it be?). Looking over it for 30 seconds I didn't make out where this script is called, though. | ” |
He is trying to cloak the functionality of the script by using ludicrous variable names and not using any line breaks, but if you have a knowledgable coder look over it, this won't be much of an issue. ~ | twsx | talkcont | ~ 15:30, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. However, as with bots, the editor is responsible for his edits, so unless he doesn't do anything with the code, I wouldn't say there is much to do. My biggest concern is, and I have to assume bad faith here, that he (and others he might give the code to) could use them anonymously with IPs and socks, resulting in an almost unpreventable attack of POV pushing edits. We'll see what happens. PS: I'm a little late, but I would like to congratulate you on the admin position, you had that coming. ;-) Also, thanks for your invaluable and subjective actions and notions on the comma/linebreak issue. I, for one, have decided to stay out of it from now on. ~ | twsx | talkcont | ~ 23:58, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Hey man - I don't think Skilmore is actually Spooky. Simon Kilmore runs FooFightersLive.com - I'm not 100% sure, but I'd be surprised if that weren't Simon himself. About the Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 article
Hi Scarian,
You're right, in that context it would be correct, and I did notice that the first time I went through and made the "however" edit. However (no pun intended ;-) ), the fact that games are often delayed in Europe, particularly in Germany, is something that is so commonplace nowadays in 7th generation gaming that I felt that the Germany sentence could've been a neutral sentence, followed by a "however" sentence.
You're also right about the CAPITALS I used in my edit summary. Is it possible to bold/italicize in edits? As long as I've been on Wikipedia, I've never experimented with that. X__X Neil the Cellist (talk) 13:01, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Re: English vs. American on the Stones' page
Those corrections may be ones you'll have to make. I know of a few words spelled differently in the UK (like colour and now rumour), but most feature changes I'll probably forget to make. I understand the Stones' talk page just went through Holy War over this and I purposely stayed out of it because I think it's a rather silly conversation to have (though you probably feel otherwise). So if I should do it again just make any necessary changes yourself as I'm clueless to the minute differences. But thank you for the heads up. Stan weller (talk) 19:11, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's Stan, not Steve, but that may be the British spelling. And you blocked Mr. A? He may be a bit demonstrative, but he did a lot of good work for the Stones article. I always told him he should make it official. Stan weller (talk) 21:14, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi. You declined to take any action on my report, on the grounds that there was "Not enough evidence I'm afraid. Only one diff.". If you look at this user's history, you will see a consistent use of sockpuppets making this identical edit, and then being abandoned. Since the content of these edits relates to a libel victory by the subject of this article, and the edits challenge this and repeat the original libel, it is extremely important that we get this right. I would like to see a "block on sight" policy adopted against these defamatory BLP attacks. In fact, it may be best to request page protection. RolandR (talk) 08:21, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Administrator nomination
Uh, is this an April Fool's joke or something? It must be. You nominating me as an admin??? I mean, either way I'm completely honored, because even if it's an April Fool's thing, at least you took the time to pull this gag on me. Whether real or not, though, I think I'm gonna have to decline. I wouldn't mind being an admin, but I'm not sure I'm ready. I especially appreciated this,
He's a great guy. Lots of vandalism fighting experience. Totally deserves the mop.
on my nomination page coming from you, but like I said idk if I'm ready (whether this be April Fool's or not). I'm sure I could get the nomination as I have more friends than enemies, but let's face it, there are people who really don't like me. Heck, even your friend the 156 IP man absolutely detests me, and let's not forget Funeral and definitely Twsx (who lays in wait always, ready to "get me" at any chance he gets). Now, I don't normally care who dislikes me, but I think it's best I wait a while to become an admin anyways, though I sincerely appreciate your nomination. It means a lot coming from you. Was this an April Fool's prank, though? Anyways, thanks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:58, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm surprised, I gotta say and still honored. Idk, you are definitely tempting me...
Perhaps I can think about this for a bit? Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm thinking about it more and I haven't quite decided but I have a question for you. One thing I thought about is: Does being an admin mean you have to be on more? Do you have a responsibility/obligation to make even more edits and protect more things, etc.? I mean, if I'm an admin I do intend to do those things but one thing I worry about is that I may not always be on. I mean I almost never get on in the weekends and there will be times when I'm gone for a month or so (this will probabaly happen only a few times a year). Is that ok? Or no? Well, I'll be reading more of the guides and stuff about adminship now. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:20, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Lol, I also see you've been going block-happy *winks*. Cows are pink, indeed. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:03, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
your sig
Unless "Scarian is a crack whore" is truly part of your WP sig, then it seems that someone has either hacked your sig or is impersonating you, or some such shenanigans. See here. Either way, the credibility of this "warning" is reduced to nil. RedSpruce (talk) 01:12, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- So April Fool's is your day to post serious messages that no one in their right mind would take seriously? I'd say that's of dubious wisdom. As for your comment "I see you have entered into discussion with Richard. That is progress." That shows a profound lack of knowledge about the situation you've chosen to insert yourself into. I have always tried to engage in discussion when I've disputed edits by RAN (or anyone else), either in the talk page or at least with meaningful edit summary comments. It has always been RAN who has refused to engage in discussion, as he is currently doing at Talk:Annie Lee Moss#Image caption, for example. He has made a great many edits since I posted my question to him there, but he (as is typical for him) hasn't answered -- just as he left no edit summary comment on his multiple reverts of my edit in this edit dispute. Perhaps you could encourage him to engage in proper discussion by posting a message (not necessarily a "warning") on his Talk page. If you do so, please use a proper sig.
- Thanks -- RedSpruce (talk) 01:35, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Spooky
I think the only thing that's going to stop him is his refusal to grasp Wikipedia guidelines. He certainly doesn't know about 3RR. He's also been waging a long-term edit war at The Colour and the Shape over one sentence. (He spent weeks refusing to discuss it, which basically justified reversion as a vandal edit. Once he established himself as Spooky, he started making pedantic arguments as to why it should be removed - nothing about content or guidelines, more that it should be removed because it was "in parentheses".) I can practically guarantee that he will find a way to remove that sentence sometime in the next 24 hours, blocking be damned. -- ChrisB (talk) 07:52, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Revert fictional cats
Why revert? If Bast belongs certainly does Maahes and the Beast certainly does even if Puma doesn't, theres no evidence that the Beast isn't genetically getting mutated to be more similar to a domestic cat and hes got that flat nose cat look. In addition he meets a fictional cat who becomes a mutant cat human. Read the talk before you revert please, thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.207.191 (talk) 11:59, 2 April 2008 (UTC) Hey, if you want to make it up to me, stat The Fox and the Cat article and I'll put some stuff into it, get it at least as well off as The Cat and the Mice —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.207.191 (talk) 12:17, 2 April 2008 (UTC) Maybe The Cat in the Adage too, although that mostly seems to exist only as referenced in MacBeth, still I don't think the Lady Mackers ever explains what the adage was —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.207.191 (talk) 12:34, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Block of Irtheprwn
Hi Scarian. Technically, the account Irtheprwn is a sock of Irthpr, I think the account should be indeffed (as I did to another sock), but I did not want to do that without consulting you. Irtheprwn is used more than the original account, maybe Irtheprwn should be marked as master account?
By the way, I am not happy with the way Shipseggsbasket is handling the situation ... Hope to hear more. --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:41, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yep, I've unblocked and reblocked the sock account for indef. The master account I've blocked for 48 hours. If he uses socks again then I'll indef. I was a bit hesitant to take any action agains Shipseggsbasket as those numbers were pretty unsourced and Irthpr was editing rather aggressively. I'll ask that Ships refrains from getting involved in any edit wars and reports the user(s) directly to an admin. Thanks for your note, friend. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me. ScarianCall me Pat! 13:08, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, this is fine. I am poking a wikiproject (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history, not much useful response, yet) about Inthpr's sources, the sources seem OK, and they do give the numbers Inthpr is adding. I will keep an eye on Shipseggsbasket as well, they really should take a step back, in my opinion Shipseggsbasket did violate WP:BITE and WP:AGF quite strong and could have earned a block way earlier, S. never discussed with Inthpr, S. just assumed the numbers were wrong and reverted. Thanks! --Dirk Beetstra T C 13:10, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Re:Enigmaman
I was assuming good faith. Enigmaman had a good faith belief that Michaelm 22 was a vandal, but it was careless of him to have formed such a belief when there was not one scrap of evidence to support such a view, beyond the bare fact of (Blanked the page) edit summaries. Assuming bad faith would have involved calling Enigmaman's actions malicious or somesuch thing, which they clearly were not. I'm baffled by your claim that warning was necessary on the evidence available; surely this evidence included the diffs Enigmaman himself linked to, which were clearly nondisruptive? Algebraist 16:08, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Replies: Blanking pages is improper whether the user thinks the content is appropriate or not. There are ways of going about things. Going around repeatedly blanking pages is not the way to go. 68.237.250.13 (talk) 17:19, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

- I think YOU could be blocked yourself, because that doesn't go into accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy. You block people for vandalism and the whatnot, not because you don't like them. RoryReloaded (talk) 20:49, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree. I don't see what the problem is with admins blocking random people they don't like. Seems perfectly justified to me. Enigma message 21:06, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- O.K. 3 words. WHAT A JOKE. This is outrageous! I should tell Mr. Alf right now what you are saying. He hasn't edited in days thanks to your silly block. RoryReloaded (talk) 07:21, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- If you want, you can file an RfC on Scarian for his block. I personally have no problem with it, but I see that you do. Enigma msg Review 07:24, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Fine. I will. But how? RoryReloaded (talk) 07:30, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- You follow the instructions. Look at the link I provided. Provide the diffs as evidence. For example, in this diff, Scarian clearly admits to blocking Alf for a "personal dislike" as opposed to a legitimate blocking reason under the blocking policy. Main page for RfC on User conduct. If you want, you can look at a different RfC like this one to see how they put theirs together. Don't be discouraged. Sometimes filing a report can seem difficult and arduous, but this is how you learn! Good luck, Enigma msg Review 07:37, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Been there, done that. RoryReloaded (talk) 07:48, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Man, Scarian is gonna be mad when he sees this. But hey, he made his bed, let him sleep in it. Enigma msg Review 07:52, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't know what the best procedure is now, Rory. I mean, you properly submitted it to RfC, and Scarian's sockpuppet removed it. Clearly Scarian has some kind of mysterious control over Wikipedia. Maybe best if you lie low for a while. Scarian and his buddies/socks are out looking for ways to abuse their power. Someone even unearthed evidence of one of his socks, which also has admin powers. The report was filled out properly and was conclusive, in my opinion, but it was promptly reverted. They won't allow the truth to be known. I have evidence of several improper blocks (not just Alf's) and other abuse of admin tools, but I can't use it. Maybe I'll start an off-wiki forum where we'll be safe. Enigma msg 19:26, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- He should be ashamed of himself. He should also be blocked indef because he uses sockpuppets, as you said. What are we going to do? --RoryReloaded (talk) 20:09, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Noticed you warned the user for vandalism in User talk:Ideleted which shows the difference where was the vandalism. The text "recent edit" shows the difference. How you did this, using twinkle or by anything other. I use twinkle to warn vandals, but my script does not have anything feature like this. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 19:49, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy response, please
I had a couple of questions for you, Pat. For some reason people keep asking me questions about things as if they think I know and sometimes I do, but idk why everyone thinks I have the answer. One is about User:Arisedrink who's account is a vandal only account, though it is not very active. He has gotten warned multiple multiple multiple...(I think you get the picture) times and he always blanks his talk page. Another user asked me if this can be seen as a bad faith effort or something (I'm guessing he wants to get Arisedrink into more trouble, which I don't have a problem with as he should be banned indefinitely). As far as I know a user can do w/e the hell they want with their talk page pretty much (except expouse profane things about themselves/ others that are offensive) but I just wanted to ask you to make sure. Secondly, I have another question for you that involves an admin (User:J Milburn) who keeps editing a lot of metal pages to get rid of album pictures in the article. In other words the pages are like this (look at the albums section) and J Milburn keeps editing them to look like this. He claims that the album covers being in the article like that are in violation of non-free content criteria. And he's making some people mad, including User:A Sniper who is a great editor and has dedicated much of his time to the Death article among other articles (others having to do with religion, law and some bands). It is my personal opinion that no one should be messing with A Sniper's edits on these pages (especially Death) because he knows what he is talking about. Either format doesn't bother me too much, although I do kinda enjoy seeing the album covers right there on the article page. I just wanted to ask if Milburn is within the scope of the rules in doing what he did and if he has a leg to stand on. Thanks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:19, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- 1) User:Arisedrink's edits don't look too auspicious. He seems to be quoting policies and his edits don't look like obvious vandalism. If there is enough suspicion of sockpuppetry, file a report at WP:SSP (or get someone else to) and I can take a look at it then. In regards to the users' talk page, he can blank it if he so wishes. It's usually regarded as "okay" to blank your talk page (but archiving is preferred) after warnings to show you've seen and recognised them.
- 2) User:J Milburn is a pretty experienced admin so, superficially, I'd assume anything he does it on the level. In terms of "Is he allowed to do that?" - Yup, 'fraid so. Generally, as you know, if there is a free content route available then we take that one. I've seen plenty of discog. sections like that. If all the album covers are free and in the public domain, however, then it'd be okay to have pics of them up in a gallery.
- Thanks for coming to me, Daniel. I hope this clears up any queries. If you have any more don't hesitate to come contact me. ScarianCall me Pat! 23:12, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me. As for Arisedrink, yes his edit summaries quote policies but that is just a smoke screen. He purposely ruins the Maddox article whenever he gets a chance. Me and some other editors fought him and a bunch of other sockpuppets (who all got blocked thanks to me) but he was purposely destroying the page. But anyways, he's small fry, so to speak, and I'm not too worried about him.
- As for the free content and fair use thing, I think a lot of it is garbage. How are those images of the albums going to destroy the article or make it less encyclopedic? Anyways, I just wrote on my page some of my reasoning in thinking that the fair use things needs to be revised. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 23:18, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Not only from Wikipedia, but... the whole of civilised society! Hello. IP 69.123.126.247, which has a previous block issued by you, has been causing trouble. There is a sockpuppet tag on the IP talk page that connects the IP to a user named Dan56.
