[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Soylent Green, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. -- Doniago (talk) 12:39, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for January 23
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Recalls Those Kenton Days, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page LP (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Nielsen Soundscan
[edit]Hi! I just want to ask where did you get the number-one albums for the years 1978, 1979 and 1980 that Nielsen Soundscan had compiled. Nielsen Soundscan was created in 1991. How was it possible for it to already compile these charts without creating itself yet? Janbryan (talk) 04:08, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry for the accusation I have made. I looked on the history in the wrong way. You're right, from 1964-2000, there should be only RPM charts as Soundscan wasn't established yet. Janbryan (talk) 02:54, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:8th Berlin International Directors Lounge poster art, square format.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:8th Berlin International Directors Lounge poster art, square format.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Directors Lounge 2008 St. Petersburg presentation poster art, horizontal.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Directors Lounge 2008 St. Petersburg presentation poster art, horizontal.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Dianna (talk) 23:32, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Hist-Merge
[edit]Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Yasin Sebastian Qureshi a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Yasin Sebastian Qureshi. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you.
Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Scarbluff, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Draft:Yasin Sebastian Qureshi have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Copy-pasting text from one Wikipedia page to another page is a violation of Wikipedia's copyleft, and at worst can result in sanctions. Thank you. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:14, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

The article Harald Seiz has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Little evidence of notability, puffed-up references - and this is the toned-down version. WP:BEFORE shows most coverage is cryptocurrency sites and goldbug blogs. de: article is similarly bad for sourcing.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. David Gerard (talk) 13:17, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
Nomination of Harald Seiz for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Harald Seiz is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Harald Seiz until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. David Gerard (talk) 17:07, 15 August 2019 (UTC)

March 2023
[edit]Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Anthony Perkins, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Genius.com is not a reliable source. Additionally, I recommend that you review WP:IPCV. DonIago (talk) 04:28, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Doniago, thanks for your attention to the edit. I'm perplexed, however, as I specifically used Genius because of the numerous references in the very same section using that source (references 268 through 271, for example). My question would be, why then are those references left as is? The point seems quite relevant (especially as this single names Perkins himself, and not just the Bates character), and Genius is used to reference Blondie, Eminem, Kanye West and L'il Wayne. Furthermore, there is a similar lyric reference between these (concerning the group Landscape) with no reference at all! So you can see why I'm confused. Please let me know how you see this. Looking forward to your reply, thanks, Scarbluff Scarbluff (talk) 22:08, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- If there's other information sourced to Genius, my recommendation would be that either those citations be removed and replaced with a Template:Citation needed tag, or that the information itself be removed along with the citation. Genius is a self-published source.
- I'm on vacation right now, so I have limited time to look into this, but you're welcome to double back with me in a week or so if you'd like me to take a closer look. Cheers! DonIago (talk) 04:32, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Doniago, first off, I hope you had a good vacation! I myself am quite busy at the moment, hence my delay in looking into this. Virtually all of the references in this section are from Genius; as I stated, that's why I chose it for my edit. Please take a look at them all -- it would make sense to treat all such edits in similar manner. This may also facilitate all affected editors taking advantage of a solution found by one. Best, Scarbluff Scarbluff (talk) 10:37, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
