Who's Uzawa?
[edit]One conspicuous omission from the new article titled Uzawa iteration (besides the fact that no refereed sources are cited) is that it doesn't say who Uzawa is. If there's a Wikipedia article about Uzawa, that should probably be linked from the article. Michael Hardy (talk) 02:18, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- You are right of course. I would like to quote the original paper on this iteration, not some derivative work, so I have to do some digging in our library. I hope that I'll come up with an appropriate reference and the name of the original author soon. Sboerm (talk) 22:23, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Besides an original paper by Uzawa, there should be some refereed source saying that it's conventionally called "Uzawa interation" (even if Uzawa called it that, that doesn't establish that it's conventional), and some refereed source saying that it's notable enough to have an article (that is something that Uzawa's original work would not establish). - I've finally managed to visit our library and take a look at the original chapter by Uzawa. I have also added a couple of later works referencing the Uzawa iteration. Sboerm (talk) 21:33, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Rayleigh quotient iteration
[edit]Hello,
I have left a question at Talk:Rayleigh quotient iteration about the algorithm you added to the article. Clarification would be appreciated.
Thanks! InverseHypercube (talk) 10:32, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hi. I added a clarification to the page: the algorithm does not compute the Rayleigh quotient for , but approximates it using the Rayleigh quotient for , since this is readily available without an additional matrix-vector multiplication. If you are interested in the traditional algorithm, you could take a look at my book "Numerical methods for eigenvalue problems", section 4.5 Best regards, Sboerm (talk) 14:38, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
