User talk:Sardaka
I am semi-retired from Wiki because I am sick to death of the assorted stalkers, wankers and idiots who haunt this place and ruin it for everyone else. From now on I'll look in occasionally to see what the stalkers are up to, but won't be editing as much as I used to.
Sardaka (talk) 08:09, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm pleased to announce that one of the abovementioned stalkers, wankers and idiots has just been blocked indefinitely for being a stalker, wanker and idiot. See User_talk:PoorPhotoremovalist#Blocked. Let that be a lesson to the lot of you (and there are still a few people I haven't finished with).

- Heh, people will cry WP:NPA before long... Anyway, how about coming out of this semi retirement then?--Atlan (talk) 13:50, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
I have been doing other things lately, away from WP, and I haven't missed you bloody idiots ONE BIT!!! It has been so good to be able to work on things without having petty clashes with petty people. Sardaka (talk) 10:16, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

- OK, that is always the most cast-iron route to follow. Wikipedia takes a very dim view of stalking. If you'd like to report any users or IP addresses, we can take action against them. You can leave me a message here, email me, or contact any admin in the same way, or post to WP:ANI. --Dweller (talk) 09:49, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
To many photos
[edit]You are adding way to many photos to articles. You should understand this this project is not an image gallery and articles should not be cluttered with photos. Like I have stated before, this article still has 13 images in it which is still way to many but should stand for a while until a commons link is added to the article as suggested by jbar. Once this is done we can transfer all related images into this link. This should free up the article and give it some breathing space. We should probably do the same thing with other articles as well. But till then I think that minor clean ups like with the Annandale article should continue. I will be taking a short break for a while, when I return we will discuss it. But remember I have a right to edit and reduce excessive amounts of images if I think an article is over crowed. Someone has to keep an eye on things. If everyone was allowed to add what ever they wanted this project would be chaos. Another thing you need to remember, a better quality image will always trump a poor image of the same thing. PoorPhotoremovalist (talk) 00:40, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
J st group
[edit]Why don't you try to write an article about the Johnston st group. I found a website that provides information on every house on that block. Instead of having an article for the Abbey you could merge this into an article about the J st group and have a section for each house and as many pictures as you want. I would be inclined to add some black and white photos though. You should give it a try. P.o.o.r.P.h.o.t.o.r.e.m.o.v.i.l.s.t. (talk) 02:10, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Should not
[edit]You should not give up the struggle but strive to do better. Also, with you negative comments towards admins and other users. These people need to stay neutral and not take sides in edit wars, if they are seen to be doing this it could cost them their adminship. Also no one is stalking you.
If your above comments are directed towards me well you are wrong. I am simply following the Sydney suburban navigation boxes, starting from the first link and working my way through the list. If it looks as though you images are the only ones that are targeted, well my user name might give you a hint as to why I removed it. I know you can do better than this. Another thing, I do not believe that you are retired. You editing pattern will always give you away. P.o.o.r.P.h.o.t.o.r.e.m.o.v.i.l.s.t. (talk) 08:38, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Stephanie Leonidas has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.myspace.com/stephanieleonidas (matching the regex rule \bmyspace\.com).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. File copyright problem with File:East0009.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:East0009.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:22, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

You have no doubt noticed that I took all the houses in the List of heritage houses in Sydney and created new individual articles. This will allow them to grow properly, and allows the list just to be a list. In each case (except 1 or 2 oversights), I gave you credit in the first edit summary - e.g., see the first entry here. Re: Cults
[edit]Hi Sardaka. Yes, I know; IMO they're a particularly extreme example of what in general use would be called a cult. But Wikipedia tries to avoid value-laiden terms like that. It's enough to describe the practices of The Family; we don't need to label them. For example, the article Osama bin Laden goes to great lengths not to call the man a terrorist; however it does point out the many, many sources that have given him that label. Apart from that minor issue, I think that you're doing a great job on the article. Graham87 11:00, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Re: Blogs
[edit]In general, it's true that blogs aren't appropriate as refs. However, they're OK either when they're being used as primary sources for non-contentious things that the subject writes about him/herself (which is the case at Sarah's article), or when the blog author is a published expert in the topic whose work has appeared in traditional reliable sources. BTW, I've fixed the archive box on your page ... hope you don't mind. Graham87 10:29, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Wiki0057.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Wiki0057.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. mabdul 00:04, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- Hi,
- I reverted your changes at the image with the reason that a license change is not a permission. Please send a mail to OTRS as described in the box at the image file description page.

Nomination of Sarah Hamilton-Byrne for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Sarah Hamilton-Byrne is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sarah Hamilton-Byrne until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Spartaz Humbug! 03:22, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
I am taking up your offer at the AfD debate to discuss what I see as shortcomings in the article. I am a bit reluctant because of the negative comments at the top of your talk page, but I will assume good faith and strive not to be pigeonholed into one of your three bad categories.
The cult leader should not be referred to as "AHB" as this is not a standard way of referring to people on Wikipedia. Mentions should comply with WP:SURNAME though I recognize that shared surnames make this a complicated case. Initials, though, are not acceptable. The article, in my opinion, relies too much on the subject's autobiography. Add more references from neutral sources. The article should be rewritten with a strictly and scrupulously neutral point of view. Let the facts speak for themselves, and eliminate anything that could be considered opinionizing or editorializing. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:34, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Blacket
[edit]Re your pics of Blacket's buildings, the earlier ones (even though at low resolution) showed the details of the architecture much better than the recent ones. At St Marks, the building was straighter, and far more of the spire was visible, as well as more details of the roof, and no distracting steps. At the Bishopscourt pic, the older one had sunshine in all the right places so that the details of the gables and the stonework were revealed. As for the pic of St John's spire, the original showed the details and the replacement didn't.
The question is, could you possibly upload your two earlier pictures at a higher resolution, so that people who check them out on Commons can see more detail? (they are fine at low res.) From an architectural point of view, they are the better pictures. Amandajm (talk) 14:17, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me. What a pity!.
- The new shots are fine as photographs, but none show the details of the architecture as well for the purpose of the article. If you don't mind, I would much prefer to use the older images, in the context, despite the fact that if one looks at them on Commons, they don't do high res very well.
- Amandajm (talk) 06:23, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
- The Edmund Blacket article is about the work of the architect. The accompanying text reads:
- "For St Mark's, Darling Point, Blacket showed the committee a design based upon an engraving of the church at Horncastle, Lincolnshire. Unlike St. Paul's, St Mark's has a high nave lit by small clerestory windows with trefoil lights above the aisles. The building work was interrupted in 1851 by the departure of men for the Australian gold rushes. The spire, which is a feature of the leafy streetscape of Darling Point Road, was chosen from 14 different versions prepared by the architect, and was paid for privately."
- The photos in the Darling Point article remain as you placed them. Amandajm (talk) 02:19, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Gurumayi0001.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Gurumayi0001.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 15:36, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
The Grange
[edit]Hi, you recently listed this building as being the work of William Hardy Wilson. Although he lived there I'm not aware of him having anything to do with its design or construction. Indeed, given his birth date and the construction date that you list it would be impossible for it to be his work. Maybe you could clarify this. By the way, your pics are great. Help
[edit]Sardaka, I have come to you for guidance over a situation that has been ongoing on Wikipedia for a while now.
It is related mostly to the user Bidgee. I became a Wikipedia member a while ago, and was banned for uploading copyright images. Most of which I believed were "fair use" and did not intend to cause any breach of copyright status. I did not understand Wikipedia's copyright laws, therefore for most of the time had no idea why the images were reverted/deleted.
However, I recently learned the rules, and ever since have been uploading images under the CC-BY-SA 2.0 status from Flickr, and none of my edits are ever vandalism or disruptive.
However, Bidgee seems to think he is entitled to be the "boss" of EVERY SINGLE Australian-related article. My images, all of which illustrate the article in the best ability (they are all of high quality) are CONSISTENTLY reverted by Bidgee. He recently blocked me from using Wikipedia and undoes all my attempts to add images.
I hate it and believe it to be unfair because he seems to have some kind of persuasion or manipulation over other editors, likes to "stalk" a lot of articles in case his edits are reverted or something is changed. I personally believe I should not be blocked. I will not, nor have I ever really made any disruptive edits, and have learned my lesson with copyright images as previously stated.
Bidgee seems to operate with a "if it's not broke, don't fix it" mentality, which is frustrating for me, because often I come across Australian related articles with awful, dated images of poor quality, and when I try to replace them, he undoes it almost immediately.
Something has to be done? He seems to like to play God. Can you help me? I'm not a vandal and I just like to do my best around here. 101.103.195.74 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:48, 10 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi
[edit]I found you on one of Bidgee's talk pages, I was looking to see if anyone else had problems with the user. I did engage in sock puppetry, however my incorrect behaviour has ceased and I have not made edits to Wikipedia and do not plan to for the next few months as I am blocked, and would like to make amends and just take a break. Eventually I will make an unblock request as I have no interest in behaving the way I did prior to my block - although I was entirely unaware of Wiki's copyright policy which is why I was uploading so many copyrighted photos. I am now completely aware of the Creative Commons rule. I never engaged in vandalism. I only have interests in making Wikipedia better so hopefully I can return after these few months. 121.215.176.244 (talk) 02:03, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
Re: Bidgee
[edit]Hi, never denied 101.103.195.74 was me, nor did I deny Ashton29 was the account I operated under. A lot of my edits were considered disruptive because other people wanted different things, particularly Bidgee. For example, I would add a more recent image, or add further information in text, but it would be reverted because some editors on Australian related articles can be very rigid and go with the "if it's not broke don't fix it" mentality". I also explained that I was blocked for uploading copyright images, however at the time most of them I did not know were copyright and did not understand the Wikipedia copyright status. It was never vandalism but rather a clash of views. I am serving my time at the moment, I'll probably try and see if I can come back within 5-6 months. 121.215.176.244 (talk) 07:12, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

- I guess you right that the declaration is in effect unsigned. I suppose what I saw as poor quality actually does suggest they are scanned from a printed source (which is probably not recent). The GNU licences do appear to be worthless.--Grahame (talk) 07:58, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Cooper Park and other Bellevue Hill topics
[edit]Hello. I really like your articles; thank you for creating them. Would you consider creating an article for Cooper Park in Bellevue Hill? I think it could look like another article I create about a park in Beverly Hills: Will Rogers Memorial Park. Also, would you consider creating pages for the rest of listed historic buildings in Bellevue Hill, New South Wales? Additionally, are there churches in the neighbourhood--if so, can we create them? I am moving there soon, so it's a great way of finding out what to expect. I'll definitely help you out as well. Btw please reply on my talkpage. Thank you. Hi Sardaka. Good to hear from you and good to get such an unexpected query! It brought back some fond memories of long ago. Cecily was Roie's sister - not her niece. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]The section you started first is here. A more specific answer is that the article creator should be notified of any attempt to delete a page, and IMHO the nominator is at fault if they didn't. However, notification is not required. From the comments it seems the article may not be suitable for Wikipedia as WP:RS are needed to establish notability. Question about a photo
[edit]The owner of the building depicted in File:(1)Berowra in Lavender Bay.jpg was surprised to see this photo in Commons. (OTRS ticket:2016060210012291 ) I am not a lawyer and especially not conversant with the laws of Australia, but I believe in the United States, you are permitted to take a photograph of a private home if you are standing on public ground. If those of the facts and that is the law in Australia at the you are on solid ground. That said, I note that the image is not used in any article. Given the lack of use, would you consider accepting a courtesy deletion for privacy reasons?--S Philbrick(Talk) 12:50, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia
[edit]Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, please see WP:YouTube. I reverted the edits because I'm not convinced they met our guidelines. I'm sure they were in good faith, and you are an experienced enough user to judge whether I've got it wrong. You are doubtless also aware that many editors add YouTube links to pretty well anything they see, regardless of copyright or whatever, and there is a bot which is tasked with removing such links along with Facebook, Twitter... Cheers Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:23, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
- Same applies, social media links of any kind are discouraged. And there's another bot for those... ):
- AFAIK, the only acceptable use of any social media is when YouTube is used as reference (not an EL) and even then it must be clear that is not a copywrite violation and it is contributing real facts rather than just acting as an illustration. In 15 years, I've used Youtube as a ref just once, where an organisation had produced a video about one of their nature reserves which had facts I couldn't find in more obviously RS sources. I can't imagine how other social media can ever be useful, since by definition they are not independent third-party sources. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:10, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

[edit]You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Galobtter (pingó mió) 09:59, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- Additionally, do not "try the 3RR rule"; you can be blocked for edit warring without violating 3RR and it isn't a license to revert as much as possible while not violating the rule. Galobtter (pingó mió) 10:18, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Michael Guider.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:47, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Michael Guider.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Michael Guider.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 01:24, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

This was disappointing to see, coming from such an established editor like yourself. We are here to build an encyclopedia, not to endlessly rehash culture war debates, not to right great wrongs, and not to validate your self-conception of being censored by a Wokeist Cabal.
Using an individual's preferred gender pronouns is an established practice both among reliable sources, and on English Wikipedia, per the guideline MOS:GENDERID. The opinions of individual editors about the acceptability of singular they, or the validity of non-binary identity, are beneath consideration. Wikipedia has a duty of care toward WP:BLP subjects, and there exists a decade-spanning RfC-level community consensus that this includes gendering subjects according to their self-identification. For context, you may wish also to read:
- WP:Manual of Style/Gender identity – explanatory supplement to MOS:GENDERID.
- WP:Manual of Style/Gender identity § Discussion timeline – timeline of gender-related RfCs
- WP:Gender identity – explanatory essay of FAQs
Finally, please be aware that the Gender and Sexuality articles are a designated WP:Contentious topic (formerly called "Discretionary Sanctions"; see WP:CT/DS for an explanation of the new system).
