The edit you made to the page about pressure cooking

[edit]

Hi Sarahburge. You edited the page pressure cooking and removed the sentence about pre-steaming Christmas puddings. I have looked in the Tefal recipe book and it does say that pre-steaming is required. I quote from page 122 about the "Golden Rules When Cooking Christmas Pudding": "Pre-steam the pudding to avoid a heavy, stodgy texture".

I can't find any suitable web pages to include ref links, but I have carefully researched everything before adding it to that page.

Why do you think that sentence about Christmas pudding is wrong? TurboForce (talk) 13:27, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Turboforce. Your Tefal example is the first one I've come across that mentions pre-steaming a Christmas pudding; the majority of other instructions for steaming Christmas puddings in a pressure cooker make no reference to pre-steaming, and I have successfully made many Christmas puddings (and other types of suet pudding) without pre-steaming. So whilst some recipes may require pre-steaming, as per a conventional steamed pudding in a pressure cooker, it is by no means a requirement. Therefore I'd be very reluctant to include a sentence stating that pre-steaming is a requirement for cooking Christmas pudding in a pressure cooker. Hope this is helpful Sarahburge (talk) 13:50, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for replying. I'm happy to read that you have made many Christmas puddings without pre-steaming and as pre-steaming is not a requirement for cooking Christmas puddings in a pressure cooker, then I agree that the mention of pre-steaming Christmas puddings does not need to be in the pressure cooking page. I wonder if 20 - 30 minutes of gentle pre-steaming will make a noticeable difference to the quality of the Christmas pudding? :)
Many thanks for improving that article on Wikipedia about pressure cooking.
Kind regards TurboForce (talk) 21:57, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Massive parallel sequencing, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Illumina (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
