If you're the only contributor to a page and you want it deleted for some reason, you should stick the {{db-g7}} tag the page itself. It took me a minute to work out that you wanted he article deleted as well :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:40, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia Campus Ambassador
Hi there, my name is Annie Lin; I am the Campus Team Coordinator for the Wikimedia Foundation. I am emailing you because Wikimedia is launching a new project (the "Public Policy Initiative") for the 2010-2011 academic year and is currently looking for dedicated Wikipedians near the George Washington University and Georgetown University areas to serve as the project's Campus Ambassadors, and I thought you might be interested.
More details about the Wikipedia Campus Ambassador role can be found at http://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Campus_Ambassador. Here is also a little bit more information; in a nutshell: The Campus Ambassadors are crucial components of the Wikipedia Public Policy Initiative. Volunteers in this role will mainly be in charge of providing face-to-face training and support for professors and students on Wikipedia-related skills, such as how to create new articles, how to add images, how the talk pages work, etc. Campus Ambassadors will also help recruit other people on campus to contribute to Wikipedia articles, for example by setting up Wikipedia-related student groups and by organizing "Welcome to Wikipedia" social events. In general they will become known as Wikipedia experts on the university campus (in your case, on the GWU or Georgetown University campus). The estimated time commitment for this role is 3-5 hours a week, possibly slightly more at the very beginning and very end of the semester. The Wikimedia Foundation will hold a mandatory three-day training for all Campus Ambassadors in August, and will continue to stay in contact with and offer full support for the Campus Ambassadors throughout the academic semester.
Please let me know if this is something that sounds interesting to you, so we can talk about next steps in the application process. Feel free to respond on my talk page or email me (alin@wikimedia.org). Thanks, and I look forward to hearing back from you!

This is a reminder that you're signed up to help with the workshop, per Wikipedia:GLAM/SI/Events. If something has come up, and you can't make it, please take your name off the list. Otherwise, we'll look forward to seeing you. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 21:09, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
FYI - Translated version of Le Défenseur du Temps
Since you have this listed on one of your user pages, I went ahead and translated the French wikipedia article on Le Défenseur du Temps. I've also added a few more authoritative cites. Feel free to chime in and modify at will. Note: The version I translated has the initial french article ("Le") which is omitted on your reference to simply Défenseur du Temps. --Quartermaster (talk) 14:52, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Non-free files in your user space
Hey there Missvain, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Missvain/IndianapolisPA. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.
- See a log of files removed today here.
- Shut off the bot here.
- Report errors here.
Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 05:02, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Issues regarding non-free files
Hi Sarah, I've removed the non-free files from List of public art in Indianapolis. There's a few reasons for this. First, the images were very reduced in size, making their display in the article a failure of WP:NFCC #8, significance. Further, there's a prohibition on this sort of use which can be read at WP:NFLISTS, and also WP:NFG. We don't use non-free images in this way.
Also, quite a number of the images located on this page are currently hosted on Commons. There's a serious issue with many of these images, as they are photographs of 3D works of art. There is no freedom of panorama in the United States for 3D works of art in public places. See Commons:Freedom of panorama#United_States for more information regarding this issue. As a result of this, many of those photographs are actually encumbered with copyrights, and are therefore not acceptable on Commons. I've marked quite a lot of these for deletion due to this. If you'd like to copy those images here, and use them under terms of our non-free content policy, that's fine. Just be sure to tag them with {{non-free 3D art}} and add a fair use rationale per WP:FURG. You can see what images I tagged by looking at my contributions on Commons for today, November 4.
Lastly, I removed non-free files from User:Missvain/IndybyHood. First, per the issues described above, this use wouldn't be acceptable in the main article namespace anyway, and second per terms of WP:NFCC #9, the use of non-free files in userspace is strictly prohibited.
If you have questions about these issues, please ask. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 13:47, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sarah, you replaced a to-be-deleted Commons image with a non-free one on List of public art in Indianapolis. I believe I explained this issue above. This sort of us isn't acceptable. I've removed the image. Please stop placing non-free images on that list article. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 14:54, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
I do want to add that I appreciate your work on this article, just not the non-free elements. Articles like this are rare indeed, and appreciated. --Hammersoft (talk) 15:03, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Herodalbum.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Herodalbum.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:40, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- Makes sense to delete it to me. Wow, I don't even remember adding this to Wikipedia, it was so long ago (and I don't even recognize it, LOL!). Obviously a copyright violation, so feel free to delete delete delete! (I guess I didn't know any better back then! ;) ) Missvain (talk) 17:55, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
WikiProject District of Columbia
I notice you are one of the few editors that seem to still make edits to the WikiProject District of Columbia pages. Is this still an active project or has it basically gone inactive aside from yourself and the one or 2 other editors that maintain it? --Kumioko (talk) 21:08, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hi there! I'm not really sure :) I just added myself recently to the participant list and started adding their tags to some of my pages. I haven't worked with anyone yet, though I'd like too. I do think someone is actively rating pages, but, not sure how much farther it goes at this time. Keep me posted. What are you interested in working on? Missvain (talk) 02:00, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hello back atchya. I'm glad to here your interested in DC (I noticed that you lived there. I live a bit south myself but work in DC) Well I noticed some time ago that the project hadn't been very active and I was considering rolling it into Wikiproject United States. Basically the project pages would be the same I would just add DC as a subproject under WPUS (see how U.S. counties was just done for {{WikiProject United States}}) and then replace the DC talk banner with the WPUS one (that would cover the 5000ish articles that currently have the DC tag). I also noticed that there are on about 20000 more (depending on how you count them it could be more) that apply to DC but aren't currently tagged. As I mentioned before the project pages and talk page for the project would remain, it mostly just applies to the banner. Let me know what you think about this idea. By the way there's a DC meetup coming up in DC in January. Its pretty fun and you get to meet a lot of other Wiki-folk. --Kumioko (talk) 02:22, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Hey! I saw the talk page about the WP:US. I took a look, since I also saw it on the WP:Indiana page. I think it's a good idea - it'll hopefully bring more activity and awareness as well. And yes, there are so many articles! I'm happy to help however I can. I recently moved to the area, and it'd be great to meet other Wiki peopole. Where do I find out about the meetup? The Meetup website? (I haven't joined yet). I've been rather active in Wiki stuff in the Midwest and with GLAM, etc. Thanks again for reaching out! Missvain (talk) 02:37, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh are you with the Smithsonian Glam or a different one? I was one of the folks that went out originally in June (if you saw the picture I am the guy in the back by the plant in the Maroon shirt) and talked with the museum about working together. I haven't been able to make it to another one due to my day schedule but Im hoping to make it back out there. Here is the link to the next meetup. Its still up in the air about the topics and locations. Everyone is still pretty excited about the possibility of working with SI but some of the other collaborations with the Library of Congress and the National Institute for health are in discussions too as well as others. See you around. --Kumioko (talk) 02:53, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
Based on comments received from the eidtors who are still active in WikiProject DC I have added District of Columbia to {{WikiProject United States}}. I will start tagging the DC articles in the next couple days. The syntax of the template looks like this: {{WikiProject United States|class=|importance=|District of Columbia=yes}}. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. --Kumioko (talk) 20:09, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Great to hear that! So, what can I do to help? Do I need to "Retag" articles with the new tag? Let me know :) Missvain (talk) 21:33, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- If you want too but you don't have too. I know you are currently building up content for the different pieces of art and Smithsonian so thats more important than spending time tagging IMO. Just FYI, I am leaving the DC tag in place for know and just adding the US tag with DC. I use a program called AWB and can do them pretty quickly (about 1000 a day lately). I was actually thinking about running a bot to do it in an automated fashion for this group because theres so many. I could knock them out in a day or two then instead of 4 or 5 days. --Kumioko (talk) 21:41, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Frederick Keep Monument, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://www.joeyablonsky.com/keep.htm.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

License tagging for File:Our Lady of Fatima Proper Left.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Our Lady of Fatima Proper Left.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 05:06, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Sorry you couldn't make it to the meetup tonight. I hope you can make it to the even on the 22nd at the National Archives though. --Kumioko (talk) 04:50, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
You seem to be showing up in my watchlist a lot
so in following up on some Adolph Wolter relatd thing I discovred your photo of his American Legion Soldier. I had needed a picture of that for a project ( http://www.archsculptbooks.com/home.htm ) and have wanted to use yours, but would like to give you credit beyond Miss Vain. I nave you first name so if you'd like your last name too, drop it off here, at my page or I can give you the email address of the project. Which you can find at that web site. Keep up the great work in WDC, you have a lot to do. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 20:12, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Einar! Thanks for the kind words about the work we're doing. I'm happy to allow you to use my photo, I have two - one from a farther distance (across the street). I live close to the building, so I am happy to wander over to take more detailed photographs if needed, along with anything else in the area. You can see the images here: [3]
Please credit Sarah Stierch for the images. Sarahstierch.com if you need further. A copy or a discount of the book would be grand ;) Very cool about the book, can't wait to see it in the flesh! Missvain (talk) 20:50, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, the picture that you've posted is perfect. It shows the soldier in the architectural setting, with the name of the buildings nicely right there. I'd love to give you a copy of the book, but . ..... there are no copies. I just did a start of the year inventory of our data base and discovered:
- Number of buildings: 1163
- This is counting a college or university that might have multiple buildings as one number.
- Number of architects bios: Counting the number of entries in the Architects category, there are: 96
- Number of sculptors bios: Counting the number of entries in the Sculptors category, there are: 270
- Carvers Counting the number of entries in the Carvers category, there are: 36 Some, if not most of these overlap with the "sculptors" category
- Seems as if there is always more. Also feel free to ask about any particular building, sculptor etc. and we might have something. Carptrash (talk) 21:08, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
However, the #1 building on our Needs Pics category is Bertram Goodhue's National Academy of Arts and Sciences Building (something like that) with sculpture by Lee Lawrie. Have any? Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 17:56, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
- No, I don't, but, I know exactly where the building is. Give me a week and I'll go hunt some Lawrie work down. I also have some work in a publication that is being put together by the author of this website Lee Lawrie.com, he might be someone of interest for you too! Missvain (talk)
THanks for the link. I've corresponded with Gregory on and off for several years. He is pretty committed to Lawrie and this is a very good thing. Your pictures will be a real plus. Carptrash (talk) 23:04, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I asked you today about what photos you need for Wikipedia:WikiProject Public art. Soooo how bout I start with a list like this and just start taking photos of ones with articles? That is when the weather isn't like this..
--Qwerty0 (talk) 06:17, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi! yes, thank you so much! That's awesome. I actually am coming together with a task force for the DC public art program and I think I have an idea of where I'd like to start in regards to photographing. But, that doesn't mean you can't take photos for those works too ;) I'll have things updated shortly! So excited to have you on board!!! Missvain (talk) 23:41, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Your requests for assessment
I wanted to let you know I left WPUS and don't plan to be involved in the project. At least not for a while. I finally got fed up with Racepacket and his unending fillibustering of the talk page. So I wanted to let you know I left so I left a message on the talk page of the project about the Requests for assessment page. You might want to check back occasionally though cause I don't know if anyone will check them. Good luck. --Kumioko (talk) 02:44, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

I decided I wasn't going to let someone drive me off that easy. I'll go and assess those articles this weekend. Have a nice weekend. --Kumioko (talk) 22:25, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Tagging
Just out of interest, how are you selecting the European articles that you tag for the Public Art project? It seems very random. As the active membership of the project seems almost entirely US-based, and editing on US subjects, I wonder how much the project can really do for art outside the US. American public art is itself a vast topic, and more than enough to keep you all very busy for the foreseeable future, I would have thought. Johnbod (talk) 01:21, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Do you need help tagging? If you do let me know. --Kumioko (talk) 01:25, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Nice work tagging and assessing articles, Missvain! It would be great if Kumioko were to look at your work and check it over/make additions. I'm not often sure I understand what Johnbod is saying here, public art is public art no matter what continent it is on, or how random it may seem to him.
Frankly, I think the project could do a heck of a lot outside of the U.S. if people outside of the U.S. starting working on it. Never mind his pessimistic thoughts, it's just how he is on WP. --RichardMcCoy (talk) 01:45, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Of course, they could, but will they? Like most things on Wikipedia, this project has a lot of chiefs, but not nearly enough indians for the grand scope it sets out, and "indian" levels of participation are falling, as everyone except Richard is aware. Johnbod (talk) 01:56, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hi John. Glad for your concern. The funny thing is that we're getting more press and more notice than ever before. I spoke at the Wikipedia 10 event in Washington recently and have been lucky to have many good people "join the cause" because of it. I also expect to spread the word in Israel later this year. I'm not sure what wrong side of the bed you woke up on, but, as a Native American Studies undergrad student with a politically correct lean I'd rather you not use lame analogies to describe a project that I am quite passionate about (and writing my thesis about). Perhaps you can continue to focus on your own work on Wikipedia and let our "dying" project struggle on. As a note, my tagging is sporadic because I do a simple search when I feel like it: "public art" in the search engine and see what it brings up. Feel free to organize it if you need to see something a little more coherent.
- Thanks Richard! Always a pleasure when you stop by. And yes, Kumi - what Richard said, feel free to add some new things, but, since you're a bit dis-enfranchised with Project US you can always rock some MILITARY public art articles ;-) Missvain (talk) 02:02, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Show me the edits (text not tagging, and outside the US)! Despite Richard's usual attempt to dismiss my views as petulant bad temper, they are in fact based on a great deal of thought and a lot more more experience here than either of you can show. But then learning from other people does not appear to be something that interests Richard much. I'm fine with the project concentrating on its core subject, but since it has been constucted as something of a closed garden from the start, I have always been concerned when it reaches out beyond that. In fact I appear to be making the same suggestion to you: "Perhaps you can continue to focus on your own work on Wikipedia". Johnbod (talk) 02:42, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, is there a certain category or something you are using to determine what is art and what is not? --Kumioko (talk) 02:11, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Nice work, Kumioko! I think we could learn a lot from you on how to use AWB to asses articles. In an effort not to fall into a predictably unproductive debate with Johnbod, I've created a new section on the talk page of WikiProject Public Art. --RichardMcCoy (talk) 03:03, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- I tagged a few hundred items from Category:Local monuments and memorials in the United States so far but my internet is slowing down to a crawl. I also apologize if I added some that were not in the projects scope but some articles such as Blanchette Memorial Bridge are less obvious too me that others. --Kumioko (talk) 03:57, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Fascinating discussion, and I just can't help but leap in. As someone not particularly prone to PCism I am none-the-less surprised to to read references to "Indians and chiefs" here. Yet perhaps does this indicate that Europeans should avoid things American and visa versa? Do we in fact have such a poor understanding of culture across the Pond from each other that we should be considered persona non grata in each other's hemispheres? Naw, not really. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 18:19, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Personally as a rather meddlesom non member of the project I rather prefer the broad scope approach and since the project is called Public Art and not Americna Art or Public Art in American the title itslef would elude to Worldwide participation. I wouldn't think to much of the Chiefs and Indians comments and I encourage you to participate in the project and nhelp out in what ever areas your interests lie regardless of where you are from or live. --Kumioko (talk) 18:25, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Not sure if you knew yet but the smithsonian banner has been modifed to include the task force you asked for. It took a little longer than expected because I had to ask another user for some help but its done now. Just add |SIART=
Yes and |SIART-importance=
Top, High, Mid, Low or NA depending on the class. Please let me know if you have any questions. I just did the Talk:Archives of American Art article as an example. --Kumioko (talk) 15:02, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- I actually removed importance levels due to conflict we were having about who is to judge what is important and what isn't? The fact that sculptures by people like Robert Indiana have been declared "Low importance" by projects like WP:United States and WP:Indiana makes no sense to us. So, we scrapped the idea. Missvain (talk) 15:28, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- That is the way it is supposed to work - articles will always have different importance levels for specialized and more general projects, and to expect them all to be the same is the wrong approach. Otherwise WP:United States would have thousands of "Top Importance" articles, which would make the excercise rather pointless. Johnbod (talk) 15:54, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Well the importance criteria is subjective but differs by project and could and probably will be different even for Task forces within a project. For example:
- The Archives of American Art article is IMO of low importance to WPUS
- its probably of low or Mid importance to Washington DC
- Its probably mid to high importance to the SI project
- its probably Top importance to the Archives of American Art task force.
- This is all subjective of course but I hope this gives the general idea. I personally believe that dropping the importance is the wrong approach and heres why. There are 2 general schools of thought in WP when it comes to using the importance. 1) says it gives the article an importance to its readers and 2) says that it gives the project the ability to focus on the articles that are most important to it. I prefer to think of it somewhere in the middle myself. In the case of WPUS we have about 32000 articles, Now if we dropped the importance and just went with quality we would have a huge pile of articles to cull through and decide which to work on next or which should be priority. Adding the Importance allows a lower level of granularity and allows the project to focus on the articles that are most important (Statue of Liberty, Declaration of Independance, Michael Jackson (that last was a bit of a joke but is in the top ten of most popular pages for WPUS). Although your project is much much smaller with what will probably be under 2000 articles not having the importance is going to make it difficult to decide on what articles are truly important to the project and or to the readers and therefore will make it harder to focus on those that people view and want to improve. I hope that helps. Good luck. --Kumioko (talk) 15:58, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- That's right, though 2) is imo the key one - 1) I don't think very important. Johnbod (talk) 16:06, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Well the importance criteria is subjective but differs by project and could and probably will be different even for Task forces within a project. For example:
I think this conversation would be better served to take place within the project so others might benefit from seeing it there (please feel free to copy and paste my response there; I hope the others agree to do this). Having said that, it will take considerable work to develop subjective criteria for evaluating public art in terms of importance, and I think this level of relevancy will become more evident as the project progress. While it's valid for all of the reasons discussed above, not a high priority in my book, but clearly an opportunity for others to take the lead on and develop a proposal to present to the members of the project. --RichardMcCoy (talk) 16:43, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- I certanly have no problem with someone copy pasting my comments here and regarding your other comment. WPUS (mostly User:North Shoreman has done a lot of the work) has been developing an importance rating for us to better gauge the importance of US related articles. It can be found here but please copy it somwhere else if you want to change it around. In general of you replace "the United States" with Art or Public Art I think wou'll be in good shape with some minor tweaking after that. I hope this helps. --Kumioko (talk) 16:54, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Richard and everyone for your thoughts. I too would appreciate if we moved this discussion to the Wikiproject Public Art talk page(s).Missvain (talk) 16:51, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
I also noticed that this conversation has taken place under a Smithsonian project. Doh! That wasn't meant to happen. I actually have had no participation in the SI GLAM projects up until now, so, I'm not aware of what processes have taken place and the desires of SI GLAM users regarding talk pages. Missvain (talk) 16:57, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Its done I just copied it over to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Public Art under the title Discussion regarding the use of the importance parameter. --Kumioko (talk) 17:07, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
West Hartlepool War Memorial (according to English Heritage and the current local authority, Hartlepool Borough Council, an unnamed 'war memorial' in an unspecified 'Victory Square')
The assignment of 'start class' status on its Discussion page which presumably is applicable to the entire above article, as well as or rather than to the Discussion alone, is noted (together with the comment on the meaning and requirements of the status in question in the relevant website within Wikipedia). Unfortunately I am not a 'member' of Wikipedia very much at all in the sense of collaboration, or in any other sense. Please likewise note that I only began this article in view of an inadequate if not incorrect entry under the title 'Hartlepool' which gave a heading 'History' and a reference to 'Victory Square' (that which was completely contrary to the actual state of affairs since the present state of the area as a 'square', and it never was one architecturally for various reasons, has nothing at all in common with the original intention as a memorial, with the single exception of the preservation of the original 'platform' together with its monument and one small section of the original boundary wall and railing of the 'square', which 'square' was in its original form larger). A further complication which clearly is not taken into account under the category that is now given to the present article ('start class') but which should I respectfully suggest possibly be something that must be held as relevant is that 20th Cent. war memorials relating to the 'world wars' in Europe can in certain instances, including the present one, be of a truly international character in their original form, if not as they stand at present, and that this is something that can be demonstrated, but taking into account a much wider issue than any single memorial. This arguably requires not material within Wikipedia in its present form but compliance by signatories in particular the United Kingdom with the requirements of the 1985 Granada Convention[1]. This Wikipedia cannot achieve, it is a question of the correct application of domestic legislation, and if the domestic legislation is not adequate, the addition to or modification of it in a form which will permit the enforcement of compliance with treaty obligations, if not, within the UK, equitable law. In conclusion, I thank Wikipedia for giving a chance to make this clear at least in outline, as I hope, and I also hope it may prove something taken into account as necessary if it (Wikipedia) is to retain prestige as a source of information? May I also make clear that unfortunately I am completely isolated in this project (or problem), in every sense, so far at least, and since I am not particularly competent in matters relating to improval as now apparently required, this may not happen. Anyone wishing to learn more and possibly to be of assistance may contact me by e-mail (peter.judge@laposte.net) but I do not see an easy way forward in what as I repeat and hope has been made clear enough is an extremely complicated matter from the point of view of history and architecture and also potentially including politics and national and international law. What therefore lies ahead? What will follow 'start class' as consigned? You will perhaps in the end find it both convenient and appropriate to remove this article altogether? I shall understand your reasons if you (Wikipedia) do so. I shall also expect you to take measures to ensure that no further quite evidently incorrect information on this subject matter (in addition to for instance the current description as 'Heugh Battery memorial plaque' of what is in a contemporary, 1921, public document named 'War Memorial Tablet'[2]) will, given its possible national significance, be repeated in the case of the West Hartlepool War Memorial, at least for the time being. Thank you. Peter Judge 1 February 2011
NRHP assessment
Hi, Missvain. I saw where you added the Taft Bridge to the (now outdated) list of requests for assessment on a project page of WP:NRHP. According to the actual guidelines for assessment, though, our system is just to remove the current assessment, and someone will be along soon enough to rate the article. Just letting you know. Thanks!--Dudemanfellabra (talk) 05:40, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
- You did it again. Please.. don't put articles there. Just remove the current assessment, and someone will come along.--Dudemanfellabra (talk) 00:50, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Smithsonian-related question
Hi, I saw that you were involved in GLAM/SI and are doing research at the Smithsonian right now. Do you by chance have access to the Smithsonian Natural History Library? I'm looking for a copy of issue 2 of this journal for the article Hypsibema missouriensis and it's incredibly difficult to find, so I was wondering if you are able to view it. If you have access to this collection, could you drop me a note on my talk page and I'll give you the details of what I'm looking for. If not, that's OK, just tell me anyway :) Thanks, /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 17:02, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free images.
Thanks for uploading File:Lift Off David Black E.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sven Manguard Wha? 04:58, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Note on the removal:
I have also removed from the article File:Lift Off David Black B.JPG, File:Lift Off David Black C.JPG, and File:Lift Off David Black D.JPG. Wikipedia must use non-free files sparingly, for copyright reasons. While it is easy to justify the use of one image of the sculpture, it is very hard to justify the use of a gallery of non-free images. Please don't be insulted, I happen to think that the photography is wonderful. This is just one of those pesky legal issues. Thanks, Sven Manguard Wha? 05:03, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
- i kinda object to the image removal and deletion, and have incorporated them into the article. i have also raised a RfC here Wikipedia_talk:Non-free_content#Non_free_galleries Slowking4 (talk) 15:43, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
- well, i tried, it was a pleasure drawing fire for you. they suggested elevating it to a foundation member, and i think i will. did you see busboys & poets linked to the article? Slowking4 (talk) 18:02, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- I appreciated the good fight, ah well. I do think it's worth it to bring it upwards, why not? :) Missvain (talk) 18:57, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- doubt it will do any good, the culture that prevails is the culture the leadership wants, why do i feel like i'm in Oath of the Horatii, and fear being in The Raft of the Medusa? Slowking4 (talk) 19:26, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Self reference
i must caution you againt using your own material, as a reference. (see discussion at User_talk:Salmon1#Self-reference). i believe the proceedure is to add the link on the talk page. if you leave me a note, i would be happy to add the reference to the article itself. beware the wikilawyers: but remember Sisyphus was happy. - I've never used any of my personal writing as a source. What article are you talking about? Missvain (talk) 18:56, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- maybe i misremembered, i thought i saw you adding a link to a DCist piece, but am too lazy to find it. if i'm wrong then - nevermind. Slowking4 (talk) 20:20, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- OH! Yes, I added it as an "External Link" on an article, but didn't cite it within the content. Should it be removed? Missvain (talk) 20:59, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- nah, if a single time, i wouldn't bother. however, for future reference, consider the case of Salmon1: because we had lot's of people linking, referencing their blogs, websites, promoting their gallery shows, now we have draconian rules; we don't like people using their own published books as references. (now the footnotes from their published books, ok) subject matter experts get treated like they were teen-age bloggers. for example, people removing references calling it reference spam [4].
