This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Toby Lerner Ansin, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://conference.danceusa.org/?page_id=5728.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Speedy deletion nomination of Toby Lerner Ansin (first notice)

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Toby Lerner Ansin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://conference.danceusa.org/?page_id=5728. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on Toby Lerner Ansin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Moving forward

[edit]
The article has been moved to Draft:Toby Lerner Ansin to allow you to work on the article. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:30, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Note that Wikipedia is not a reliable source and cannot be cited for information in any article. Also, citations must include enough information to be verifiable - you cannot simply say "I saw it on a website", you need to cite the source appropriately.
Also note that a stand alone article must meet the appropriate criteria. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 22:31, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

Hi, I saw when you changed a reference for a newspaper to put in a url you took out the text information about it. It is best to keep that text: (Sun Sentinel, WSVN-TV's Ed Ansin keeps blazing a trail, even after 50 years, Jan 8, 2013) as well as having the URL. This is because in future the URL can change, but with the other info we can find it again. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 03:12, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your suggestion and guidance. I am going to restore the text. What do I do about articles that are in archives that are not accessible to anyone without a paying account? I have articles that ran in 1986 and 1987 in The Miami Herald and the St.Petersberg Times that are in archives that sell print copies of the article but do not have a URL, Very frustrating. Sanford1504 (talk) 04:11, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Sanford1504[reply]

Those sort of references are OK. Give us the information you have, newspaper, date, edition, page number, title/headline, author, name of archive that has a copy. I use the cite news drop down form to fill in. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:56, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. That's immensely helpful. Sanford1504 (talk) 10:18, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Sanford1504[reply]

Start class

[edit]

Personally I do not worry much about the rating. Ratings like "Start" are given by editors as part of a project. The most relevant is Wikipedia:WikiProject Dance. But there could also be a locality based project interested. You can see how they assess articles here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Dance/Assessment. To get to the next grade "C" class here is the quote from that page:

The article is substantial, but is still missing important content or contains much irrelevant material. The article should have some references to reliable sources, but may still have significant problems or require substantial cleanup.
The article cites at least one reliable source and is better developed in style, structure, and quality than Start-Class, but it fails one or more of the criteria for B-Class. It may have some gaps or missing elements; need editing for clarity, balance, or flow; or contain policy violations, such as bias or original research. Articles on fictional topics are likely to be marked as C-Class if they are written from an in-universe perspective. It is most likely that C-Class articles have a reasonable encyclopedic style.

The other projects would have similar standards. For me to give a C class I would like to see a screen-full of text with references. The sections should make it clear that several important aspects of the topic are covered. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:09, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Erroneous Citation

[edit]

Wishing to accurately confirm his previous title at the NY City Ballet (soloist? principal?) of the founding artistic director of the Miami City Ballet, Edward Villella, I came across a citation of an article on his Wikipedia page in which a New York Times reporter reports an erroneous date for the founding of the ballet company and an erroneous claim that Mr. Villella was the founder, instead of the founding artistic director. How does one go about correcting this kind of error?Sanford1504 (talk) 02:58, 5 August 2015 (UTC)sanford1504[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lloyd Gough, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Body and Soul. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

== Thanks for bringing disambiguation to my attention ==

I corrected the ambiguous reference to Body and Soul. Thank you. I made the error because I assumed that the lead-in to the category clarified the medium I was referring to.
