Deletion of Boybreed

Hello, I would like to know why the page Boybreed was deleted by you. Also, if you can guide me on how to make the article in that page of a high standard so it doesn't get deleted. I would also like you to help me post it back while you put me through on the reasons why it was deleted in the first place.

Kind regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by OwenRayhamen (talkcontribs) 00:36, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for asking me about the deletion of Boybreed (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)}, which was deleted as the result of a community discussion. I do not generally have the time to help editors recreate deleted articles, or the knowledge about or interest in the article's topic that would be needed to assist with its recreation. Please see WP:AFTERDELETE for advice about what you can do now or who you can ask for further assistance.  Sandstein  05:53, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Admin blocking

Hi, Sandstein! I have seen from your contributions that you have once blocked the admin user:Arthur Rubin. I want to ask you in what situations can the admins be blocked without being able to unblock themselves and if the situations are any different from ordinary users block? Can you block admins in other languages Wikipedias in general (on some very founded grounds)? Thanks.--85.121.32.1 (talk) 12:43, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Admins may be blocked like any other users. They are forbidden from unblocking themselves, and are desysopped if they do. Admins on this Wikipedia do not have the technical ability to block users of other Wikipedias.  Sandstein  13:59, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
What examples of situations that require blocking specific to admin and not ordinary editors might be? Perhaps those situations where an admin uses his prerogatives to gain editorial advantage in front of non-admin with whom may have editorial disagreements and dislikes of non-admin reasoning, such as blocking the counter-editor on some convenient reason or protecting (talk) pages to discriminate legitimate IP comments or taking part in tag-team with other admins and non-admins?
From what level can an admin from other languages wikipedias be blocked to reasons like those mentioned above? Meta? (I understand that case of resigning requests from admins from every language wp should be notified at Meta.) I think that situations needing blocking from a higher level such as Meta can occur in wikipedias with smaller number of editors and even smaller number of admins (around 10) where is very likely that tag teams form and wikihunt the arguments of counter non-admin editors. What is the procedure in such possible cases?--85.121.32.1 (talk) 12:05, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, I have no time to discuss these issues, which do not interest me.  Sandstein  14:32, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Reason for deletion of page "Boybreed"

Hello Sandstein, thanks for your response to my enquiry about the reason for the deletion of the page "Boybreed". I also discovered that the page was deleted due to summary including "AfD" ("Articles for deletion", or a similar acronym usually means the deletion is the outcome of a deletion discussion). I would like to say that this article is notable, neither is there any copyright violation in the article as I did my research before putting up this article. How can I begin the process for its undeletion or how can I get through to each member of the discussion that agreed to delete the page. Thanks a lot!

You cannot just discount opinions in this way - opinion at AfD is one of the ways that guidelines are formed. This is clearly a no consensus issue and I would ask you to revise your close. Otherwise I will take it to deletion review. Thanks. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:44, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

I maintain the view expressed in my closing statement.  Sandstein  15:15, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Jean-Pierre Bolduc. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:49, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Ken Whitman

In regards your Ken Whitman AFD result, there was a fair bit of support for a move to Draft space, even from the nominator. Did you have any objections to that? BOZ (talk) 14:45, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

If somebody wants to actively work on it, I've no objection to userfying. This newfangled Draft thing is still a bit suspect to me...  Sandstein  15:40, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
If you prefer not to put the article in Draft space, I will accept Userfy as a result. BOZ (talk) 15:55, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
OK, so I'll userfy if somebody tells me they intend to work on it.  Sandstein  16:08, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

All right, userfied at User:BOZ/Ken Whitman.  Sandstein  20:49, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

His initial sex was not obvious. I seriously thought he was a woman when parenting his children, well into the middle of the article. Only later I had to check the refs and the talk page and make mental adjustments. I wanted to spare the confusion to the other readers.

Also, as per the consensus on the talk page, he decided to half-transition, keeping his male alter ego for business. Zezen (talk) 20:56, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Hm, I think that the name "David" makes the initial gender assignment clear? The female name is also bolded in the article, which is in any case very brief.  Sandstein  22:13, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

hello.. about avery paraiso wikipedia page..

Alex Gilbert Article

Hi Sanstein,

I have been working on Draft:Alex Gilbert and have improved the article and have added new sources to the page. If you want me to, I can go through the entire list of sources and with what they are about? As I think none of the editors who were commenting on the Deletion Review actually looked at the sources correctly. Please have a look and give feedback. I will keep working on the article, but really it has passed basic notability for the article. "Single Event" does not count anymore for this article as alot of the sources talk about his Non-Profit Organization as the main topic for the source and his Book. Please look and reconsider.

Thank You! --DmitryPopovRU (talk) 18:24, 17 November 2015 (UTC) Dmitry

Hi. Sorry, I do not have the time for this; I am not interested in the topic.  Sandstein  19:20, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

On what grounds? The protocol says that I try to resolve the issue with the person that deleted it, which was you. There was no reason to delete it. So, how do I resolve this with you and get my page reactivated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.182.216.210 (talk) 17:24, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

Anybody can recreate the page, but if the reasons for the deletion are not addressed it may be speedily deleted again. If you think the deletion discussion was incorrectly closed, you can try WP:DRV. Otherwise you're out of luck. And it's not "your" page; nobody here owns any page.  Sandstein  17:46, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

Fort Worth, Texas magazine petition deletion

Concerning the Steven Universe page Fandom section

If you're going to talk about the bad you should talk about the good too. Only mentioning the drama in the Steven Universe fandom well turn people away from it and possibly the show too. It will also make the entire fandom look bad even though the majority depises these people's actions. Here's an entire article about the saner fans calling out the people on their behavior. http://homemadegalaxies.tumblr.com/post/133607242074/tenaflyviper-you-know-who-you-are-youre-not — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.100.184.201 (talk) 20:37, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

I'd love to be able to write more about the fandom, but we can do that only if there are reliable sources about it. Self-published sources such as Tumblr posts are not allowed, see WP:SPS. Do you know of any reliable sources?  Sandstein  21:36, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

I'm kind of new to wikipedia so I apologize for that. Basically while some fans did harass an artist and possibly bring her to attempt suicide or at least encouraged it and I do agree you should mention that but you should also mention the many cases of people within the fandom being highly against the harassment and supporting the person who sent the threats. While it's good to bring attention to the bad parts you should also mention some of the good parts so people aren't completely turned away or become convinced that the entire fandom as a whole is rather hostile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.100.184.201 (talk) 23:14, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

Reception for The Expanse

It's strange that you would consider the opinion of two minor writers Lauren Davis and Max Nicholson, who have only seen the pilot of a TV show at Comic-Con as a worthwhile reception and reject the opinion of two TV critics, Maureen Ryan, television critic for Variety, a juror for the Peabody Awards and a board member of the Television Critics Association, and Ryan McGee, who has written among others for The A.V. Club and HitFix, and who have actually seen screeners (2-4 episodes) of the show. Anjunadeep page

Hello.

I would like the Anjunadeep page that you deleted, undeleted, is that possible please? Please contact me to discuss if necessary, I am not connected with the company. I am a fan of their music.

My username on here is philcarterlondon and my email is phil_carter@Hotmail.com.

Thanks.

Possible, yes. But why should I do it?  Sandstein  16:28, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Hello.

Um, I am new to Wikipedia, I hope this is the correct way to interact with you.

Well, why should you undelete it? Anjunadeep is in fact a very notable record company. Currently they are one of the most important producers of electronic dance music in the world. For example, just in the last week, music from this label has been played at least twice on BBC Radio 1, which if you like this type of music, really is a big deal. They are producing not just music that I like, but a great many people like not just in the UK but around the world, particularly in the USA, Australia, India, and many other countries. Electronic music really is mainstream culture at least for young people, and this record label is producing music very much at the forefront of this.

I hope that is a valid explanation. If you need a more quantitative answer i.e. with real evidence of what I have just said, or if I am arguing the wrong point from a Wikipedia perspective, please let me know and I will get back to you with what is needed.

Thanks very much.

By the way, I am going to make the same argument for the Anjunabeats page, but as I understand it I need to discuss that with the admin who deleted the page, which is not you. However, it says that Davewild is having a short break from Wikipedia, so I guess I will ask for a deletion review. Sorry for my naivety but I just want to get these two pages back and don't really understand the Wikipedia protocols at this point, although I will learn them if needed.

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philcarterlondon (talkcontribs) 01:12, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Eric West

The Eric West deletion needs to be overturned. He's a star on Satisfaction, https://twitter.com/ericxwest/status/662819664041525248 wildly considered to be a Style Icon and influential in the fashion industry, appeared on Cosmopolitans “Hot Actors” of the year lists at #4, followed up 100,000's of people across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, where all of his accounts are verified, but his Wiki page has been deleted? It doesn't make any sense.

‘’’Eric Rosa’’’ better known by his stage name ‘’Eric West’’’ is a Puerto Rican, film and television actor and model who is wildly considered to be a Style Icon and influential in the fashion industry [1] frequently appearing in GQ’s, [2] [3][4] Esquire [5] and InStyle’s [6][7] best dressed lists.

Eric West was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. [8]. In 2015 he joined the cast of Satisfaction playing the role of Garrett and over the years has appeared in Hey Girl, The Miraculous Year, Hawaii Five-O, Kell on Earth and appears as himself in the Jeremy Scott: The People's Designer Documentary.

In 2015 West earned a Shorty Award nomination for Actor of the Year. [9] and appeared on Cosmopolitans “Hot Actors” of the year lists at #4. [10]

Maybe. That's not an argument why the consensus to the contrary in the deletion discussion, to which you should link, was incorrectly assessed.  Sandstein  22:44, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

I was told to contact you before asking for a Deletion review. There's enough coverage to warrant an article including Time magazine. Alejandrad117 (talk) 00:27, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps. But what matters to me as AfD closer is whether I correctly assessed consensus in the discussion, to which you need to link before I can examine this further.  Sandstein  09:19, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

I'm sorry - I don't understand what you're asking me to do. I am not the best at how this works. What do I need to link? Alejandrad117 (talk) 21:36, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Provide a link to the WP:AfD discussion to whose closure you object, and tell me why you think it was wrongly closed. If you can't do that, I'm not very optimistic about you (re-)creating this article competently.  Sandstein  21:39, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

I think you are talking about this I am sorry if I'm wrong: [1]

I appose to it as with Eric West there is more than enough coverage to warrant a keep. "world's ultimate Renaissance man" Complex magazine. [2], "influencers" [3], "The 25 Hottest Actors Under 35" Vibe [4], "Expect Big Things from this Hollywood Star, Eric West has been on our radar for a while now, his spot on our list of ones to watch was recently cemented in place."Barneys New York [5], "Style Icon" Askmen [6], "A-list" China Daily [7] US Weekly [8] Esquire [9] InStyle [10] Time [11] various issues of GQ [12] [13], followed up 100,000's of people on social media, face of huge campaigns [14] [15]. Stars as Garrett on Satisfaction on USA Network and many other shows. [16] "Prince of Fashion Week" [17] Shorty Award nomination for Actor of the Year Hollywood Reporter [18]

For him to not have even a stub doesn't seem right. Alejandrad117 (talk) 22:07, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

In that discussion nobody except you wanted to retain the article. No way that discussion could have come to a different conclusion. Recreation declined, and I won't respond further.  Sandstein  22:22, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Afd not closed properly

Hi, Sandstein. I am wondering if you could take a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Boka Star and provide an appropriate close, if warranted. The nom appears to have changed his mind and closed the discussion himself, but after significant input (including a couple delete !votes) and without a rationale. Thanks! - Location (talk) 14:11, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks again! - Location (talk) 14:32, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Does the closed AfD still need to appear in the category "Relisted AfD debates". The edit I made removed it from the category, but it now shows again. Mjroots (talk) 14:34, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
A bot removes these, I think.  Sandstein  14:35, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,

Thanks for closing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Empire (strategy game). Out of interest, on what grounds in the discussion did you make the decision to delete rather than userfy? Both deletion comments supported userification on conditions:

  • "If there is a request to userfy, I'm fine with that, but in that case it shouldn't be reinstated until there are several non-Reed sources to show external notability."
  • "I don't see much point in userfy-ing unless the editors believe there are more sources somewhere."

As stated in the discussion, users supporting deletion noted the difficulty of finding sources, which may take some time. As an editor in the area, I'm sure there are and will be more sources out there that support WP:GNG (see Talk:Empire Classic and Talk:Classic Empire, which had similar questions of WP:N until a Google search showed they were clear), though I agree it cannot be established at this time.

I would rather not take this through WP:DELREV (unless you advise this is the best route), but would very much support it being restored to be moved into user or draft space until such time as WP:N can be established, so it can be worked on in the meantime, and as a natural place where sources can gradually be added as and when they are found. Would you be willing or able to restore it on the condition it is moved from mainspace? If not, what would be the best way forward?

All the best. ‑‑YodinT 20:47, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

I'm ok to userfy this if somebody wants to work on it.  Sandstein  22:39, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks very much, I'm happy to host & work on it. ‑‑YodinT 12:47, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
Userfied at User:Yodin/Empire (strategy game).  Sandstein  13:22, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
Cheers! P.S. Could you restore the talk page too, so the discussion, deletion outcome etc are in place in case its restored? ‑‑YodinT 14:10, 27 November 2015 (UTC)
No, there's nothing of substance on it, but it can be undeleted itf this ever gets back to main space.  Sandstein  21:59, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

List of British engineers

There seem to be several problems with your recent close of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of British engineers and their patents. One is that you say that you didn't read the discussion and so it's not clear how you can claim a consensus. Secondly, you say that you deleted the page which was nominated. This is not accurate because the nominator, Fram, messed with both the nomination and the page which was nominated after the discussion had started. Their use of admin tools to do this was improper because they were involved. The bizarreness of the current conclusion is apparent if you inspect the edit history of the only page which is you have left. Fram is the only editor in that history and yet they didn't create any of the content. This seems to be a blatant violation of WP:CWW. And, by the end, we had three pages and you deleted two of them not one. Please reconsider. Andrew D. (talk) 21:43, 28 November 2015 (UTC)

I did read the discussion, but I disregarded the parts not relevant to the question of whether the nominated page should be deleted. My role is limited to finding consensus that we don't want a list of engineers with their patents. Everything else I leave to others. Because the whole thing is such a mess, and now somebody has apparently userfied this content again, I'm not doing anything further. Those who created this confusion should now sort it out.  Sandstein  22:49, 28 November 2015 (UTC)
