Moves and redirects

If you want to create a new redirect for a page, the way to do it is to "Search" for the new title, then click on the red link which will appear, and create the redirect (the "redirect" formatting is offered in the box of choices below the editing box). Please don't move redirects from one name to another, it leaves a complicated trail for other people to follow.

You mention one move of a redirect as being "needed for another move", but you can't move an article onto a title which has been used for a redirect with any complex editing history, and there are standard ways to make both controversial and non-controversial moves - see WP:RM.

In the case of OSQ, I think the orchestra's own website shows that the French language name is the real one, at which the WP article should stay.

Just noticed that OSQ leads to a different article so will add a hatnote there to point to the orchestra. PamD (talk) 16:18, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Created OSQ disambiguation page instead. PamD (talk) 16:27, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Airdrie, Alberta, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. 117Avenue (talk) 06:40, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 117Avenue, thank you for reminding me the importance of citing my sources. Next time, it would be appreciated to do so without canceling people's modifications and Assume good faith. A simple reminder is more than enough. --UncivilFire (talk) 16:24, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I was unaware that there was an official Canada database of demonyms. 117Avenue (talk) 20:00, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Arviat

That's odd. There are more hits for Arviatmiut but the ones for Arviaqmiut are better. If you scroll down the demonyms page it gives Iqaluiter for Iqaluit which is not what I would have expected but Iqaluitmiut. Of course neither of the two towns web sites use any of the demonyms. By the way the demonym for Cambridge Bay is "Iqaluktuuttiaqmuit". CambridgeBayWeather (talk) 19:58, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of EXterio

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on EXterio requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Nat Gertler (talk) 04:05, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
