Proposed deletion of Socio-scientific issues

The article Socio-scientific issues has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I tagged this article as an essay in 2012. Nothing of real consequence seems to have changed since. Almost all of the sources cited appear to have been written by 'Sadler, T.D' and/or 'Zeidler, D.L.', and given that the article seems to be substantially the work of a single editor who has made no other contributions, it isn't unreasonable to surmise that there may have been self-promotion of one form or another involved. No evidence is presented that SSI has had any impact on education, or that it has even been adopted at any formal level at all. No critical commentary or secondary analysis of the concept is offered. And frankly, it isn't even clear how such commentary could be offered, given just how ill-defined the topic actually is. Normally, when nominating an article for deletion, one suggests that the topic lacks evidence of notability, I'm not even sure that one can argue that. Instead, I'd have to suggest that the topic appears to lack any clear definition at all, beyond being a phrase used by a couple of authors in their own works, occasionally found in other contexts. Science education is clearly of significance, as is (or as should be) some effort to integrate the social impact of science into such education. That doesn't however seem to require applying a specific phrase to it - or if it does, the article fails to show that this particular phrase, or this particular approach (if there is one) is the one used. If it is determined that there actually is a legitimate topic here, the article would almost certainly need a substantial rewrite to demonstrate notability per Wikipedia criteria, and to rectify the obvious promotional aspects currently evident.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
