E-mail address

Hi Samir. I'm a new user, "enroled" with the new user id Mau_db. Here is my request, but I did a mistake writing my e-mail address: the correct one is *********@email.it, not *********@mail.com. How can I do to correct that? I'm a contributor of it.wiki, my User page is this. If you want I'll write an e-mail from the right address or anythng else to verify my identity. The e-mail address is not the same of italian registration, if it is necessary I can write you that, so I can resolve the matter. If you want, you can write me in my it.wiki talk or to the right e-mail address, or in my Ip talk (but I've a mobile ip). Thank you for all. --79.3.210.203 17:48, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mau_db, unfortunately, I created the account already (with the password sent to the mail.com address, and I'm not sure how to access it without the e-mail). The options would be to (1) make an account under another username or (2) put in a request to usurp the account (see WP:USURP). Maybe a bureaucrat would be able to help: [1]? Sorry I couldn't be of more help -- Samir 18:06, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for hints! I'll try to usurp myself (what a strange!) to maintain the same user id in all wikipedia's projects and versions. Have a nice day. --79.3.210.203 18:40, 3 May 2007 (UTC) P.S. I censored the address to avoid spam. Thanx again. --79.3.210.203 18:51, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help

Would you mind commenting here? Aaron Bowen 07:41, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, he came off his block ignored the RFC and went right back to doing what he was doing. I doubt he'll even respond to the RFC. Aaron Bowen 07:52, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay he came off his block and he's back at it again, his first edit was to revert against consensus (again) and he blatantly lied in his edit summary:[2] This revert has been reverted by 5 people now and his edit summary was clearly antagonist. Aaron Bowen 02:41, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He reverted it again and he deleted the talk page comments of others:[3] Aaron Bowen 02:44, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I don't know how people work on articles like Global warming the POV pushers on Michael Jordan are stressful enough. I can only imagine. Aaron Bowen 02:52, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm...thought I had searched for a deleted page of that name. My concern was that past warnings kept being deleted from the user page, and there were some very recent warnings, the principle matter of concern involved speedying this article. OK. --Shirahadasha 02:06, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the barnstar!

Hah, yes I use TW so it automatically opened the page of the last editor, but you had just deleted the page at the same time. When I realized what happened I deleted the message :). Diemunkiesdie 04:47, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back

I am so glad you came back. I hope you're here to stay. Did you happen to get my email? -- Y not? 04:39, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question

What did you mean by not enough main space edits? --ROASTYTOAST 02:05, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing personal, just noted that the bulk of your main space contributions are vandalism reversions. I didn't see much in terms of large contributions to articles. If I'm wrong, let me know. I prefer to see article contributions in the answer to Question #2, as that reassures me that a candidate can judge content appropriately as an administrator (which is important in dealing with page protections, edit wars, etc.) -- Samir 03:06, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thank you for the welcome. Glad to be noticed by a respected editor. --Spike Wilbury 04:46, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your question

Well, what's normal for celebrities is a pain for those with a number of them on their Watchlists, and there had been real problems with this article at one point. In fact I started simply to correct what I assume was a mistake on your part (you made the article moveable only by admins), and then thought "to hell with it, while I'm here I might as well sprotect again". --Mel Etitis (Talk) 09:59, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's OK. Out of interest, was it a mistake, or was the software playing up? (I've known it do some odd things.) --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:11, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Hey - I just wanted to say thanks again for your kind words and nomination for adminship. The nomination meant all the more coming from people for whom I have a lot of respect. Glad to see you up and running again, and thanks for the expression of trust; I hope to live up to it. MastCell Talk 15:22, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Thank you for participating in my RFA, which passed with 53-1-0. I will put myself into the various tasks of a administrator immediately, and if I make any mistakes, feel free to shout at me or smack me in my head. Aquarius • talk 17:36, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

Whoa. First off, I'm honored. Second, I'm gonna have to think this over very carefully :) I don't really hang around the admin areas, I've contributed to something like 3 AfDs since I first got here over a year ago, and my only projectspace edits are to med/pharm-related stuff... I can't say I've never felt a need for the tools—I have, and the backlog on WP:AIAV and CAT:CSD makes me want to yell at sysops sometimes—but I'm seriously not sure I'd do such a good job. Let me get back to you on this one, OK? ;) Fvasconcellos (t·c) 00:41, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Incidentally, would you mind having a quick look at this? I intend to move it to mainspace shortly, and would greatly appreciate an accuracy check; it was put together kind of hurriedly. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 00:50, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hey - quit yelling out at us!! :-) And yes, you'd do an excellent job. You certainly have my support and if Samir needs help hacking together a nom, I'd be delighted to help - Alison 01:05, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All right then, if I easily fit the bill… I accept. Alison, if you're watching this and would like to co-nom, I'd be honored. Could you guys just give me a few days to do some reading? I should beef up on policy :) Fvasconcellos (t·c) 02:34, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, on the reading list as soon as possible (have meatspace work to do...) I don't think it would really be appropriate for me to jump into the alphabet soup right now; it might garner me a couple extra supports down the road, but it'd kinda feel like "gaming the system" a bit, don't you think? Thanks again, by the way. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 13:35, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've added my answers. I'll re-read them later, to make sure I haven't committed any grievous mistakes… Fvasconcellos (t·c) 02:24, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A record of your Day will always be kept here.

My dear Samir, it's been a long, long time since we last spoke, but I have never forgotten your wonderful friendship and the beautiful words we once exchanged. I had been planning to visit you ever since I returned, but I couldn't come up with something as special as you deserve - until today. Hoping we can resume our friendship where we once left it, here's my humble way of saying, I love you, friend! :) - Phaedriel - 00:15, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well done, Samir. bibliomaniac15 01:39, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Samir. The article was selected for DYK last night, so that's nice; I'm thinking of slowly expanding it and going for GA when it's ready. Any suggestions? Best, Fvasconcellos (t·c) 14:39, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA?

Hi, Samir – I'm so glad you're back!

I hope you remember me... once upon a time I was BaseballBaby. While catching up on all the "As The Wikipedia Turns" news when I got back here myself in April, I saw that you hadn't edited recently and was more than a little shaken to learn why. I was sincerely worried about you and your family, and it was difficult to be unable to help. I'm glad to see you're okay. As for us, we're mostly recovered from the MVA last fall, although now we have more bills to pay and our insurance went up, even though it wasn't our fault. Grrr...

Anyway, I'm here because Walton says he thinks I'm ready to be an admin, and he would like to nominate me, and I'd like to know what you think about it. I was asked last fall by a few folks but I declined because I knew I wasn't ready. Since then I've had more experience in several areas, and I have the time since I'm not working, so I think I'm going to say okay.

I hope it's not impolitic, but would you take a look at my contributions and history and give me your candid opinion on my adminworthiness? I'd be grateful for another honest assessment. I want to make sure there's not something I should address, not for the RfA process but for the good of the community and the encyclopedia. Thanks so much, and you don't know how really, really happy I am to see you here again! :-) - KrakatoaKatie 15:31, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gracenotes' RFA

Please note that GN has clarified the oft-misunderstood answer to Q4 here, if you wish to review the oppose viewpoint you placed on this RFA. If not, I won't bother you again about it. -- nae'blis 21:44, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Hi Samir. I'd like to thank you for your support of my RfA. It was closed at surprising 75/0/0, so I'm an admin now. MaxSem 21:55, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

KrakatoaKatie's RfA

I noticed you offered to co-nom KrakatoaKatie for adminship - I've now set up the RfA page here, so feel free to fill in your co-nomination. WaltonAssistance! 16:14, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

Hi Samir and thanks for the note. Do you know anything about animals? If so, could you look at the query on my page about waterfowl and such to see if I made a mistake in using that pic from Flight feathers? Thanks, Blnguyen (cranky admin anniversary) 06:42, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
