Introduction to calculus draft

[edit]

I noticed your draft, and I had a comment. Because it's a tutorial, it seems more suited for Wikibooks than for Wikipedia. See WP:NOTTEXTBOOK. There's a wikibook, b:Calculus, which has some of the same material as your draft. Just thought you'd like to know. Ozob (talk) 14:41, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Then how is Introduction to entropy justified? I think I am going to try it out here.--Samantha9798 (talk) 00:07, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If you look around, you'll find some other "Introduction to..." articles, like introduction to general relativity, introduction to quantum mechanics, introduction to viruses, introduction to evolution, and introduction to the metric system. What all of them share is that the subject is technical but contains non-technical ideas that can be understood by laymen. So, for example, understanding the mathematics of general relativity requires understanding 4-dimensional Lorentz manifolds; but a layman can grasp that observers in general relativity perceive three spatial dimensions and one time dimension. Similarly, a layman can understand that entropy is a measure of disorder without understanding statistical mechanics.
I believe the same is true of calculus, and I believe there is scope for an article titled introduction to calculus. However, I don't believe that's the article you're writing. From what I can see, your article isn't a non-technical introduction for laymen; it's a less technical introduction for students. That's outside the scope of Wikipedia. Even though it's well written, it will never be an acceptable article. You can keep working on your draft if you wish, but I'm hoping to save you some disappointment. Well, I am thinking of renaming it to "Introduction to Calculus I" before I deploy it to Article namespace.--Samantha9798 (talk) 19:32, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. Well, best of luck. If I can be of assistance, let me know on my talk page and I'll see what I can do. Ozob (talk) 03:16, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
See v:Calculus I.--Samantha9798 (talk) 10:19, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would ask that you assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Calculus I. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. 1) You ask for input at Afd 2) Someone tries to offer it 3) You respond by bizarrely equating such advice with allegation of child molestation. If you are incapable of participating maturely in discussions you shouldn't initiate them. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 17:36, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, yeah. Godwin's law and all that.--Samantha9798 (talk) 06:01, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be attempting to request deletion of this draft. If that's what you want to do, just add {{Db-author}} to the page. Meters (talk) 05:14, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
