Hi,

My edits so far have been very minor and non-controversial but I've encountered a page at http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Control_Room_%28film%29 containing at least one statement I feel I cannot abide in good conscience. The statement "The journalists often display a perspectivist viewpoint, focusing on the perception of arguments from various audiences, while the press officer, being objectivist, focuses on facts which justify his viewpoint during this war" is intended to imply that the U.S. military press officer assigned to liaison with the Press is somehow "objective" in presenting the military's official viewpoint on the war in Iraq when, clearly, nothing could be farther from the truth.

In fact, I find the entire section on "Objectivism vs. perspectivism" fairly ludicrous since not a soul on the planet is without personal bias.

I've spent what time I can trying to find answers on how to proceed on my own but I'm not having any luck. I greatly admire the Wiki community and want to contribute in the most constructive way possible but I can't spend much more time than I already have to become a WikiExpert.

If I want to see that section changed, what's the best way to go about it without just going in and rewriting it? I'd like to have the opportunity to dialog with the author, if that's possible. I'd like for him/her to understand my reasons for wanting to change the work.

Thanks, Steve {{helpme}}

I would suggest that you initiate discussion at Talk:Control Room (film) --After Midnight 0001 14:50, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Lowry 06:35, 26 June 2007 (UTC){{helpme}} I'm sorry to be so obtuse but can you give me a hint how to initiate a discussion there? I haven't started anything like that from scratch before. Are there instructions somewhere?[reply]

Hi Sam. When you open a talk page, at the top of the page next to the edit tab you should see a tab with a '+' sign. Clicking this sign starts a new heading on the page; simply type a short title or heading for the discussion into the 'Subject/headline' box, then write what you want as normal. Also, it is customary to put your signature at the end of your post, not at the beginning. It probably doesn't really matter, but it will make more sense to everybody if you follow the convention. I hope this helps. Raven4x4x 07:48, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey fellow Wikipedian! Your username is listed on the WikiProject Films participants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:FILM editor, please add your name to the Active Members list. You may also wish to add {{User WikiProject Films}} to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. We also have several task forces that you may be interested in joining as well.

Also, elections for Project Coordinators are currently in sign-up phase. If you would be interested in running, or would like to ask questions of the candidates, please take a look. You can see more information on the positions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Coordinators. Thanks and happy editing!

As valid as an observation can be, it still violates WP:OR and WP:SYNTH. I have decided not to remove the observation, as it actually makes a great point, but rather edit it so it can be up to par for Wikipedia. Please try to incorporate that into your next edits, because otherwise they will be speedily removed by any experienced editor. Hearfourmewesique (talk) 11:13, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
