Chase Fonteno user deletion
[edit]I am a bit lost. I use wikipedia a considerable amount and had a friend that advised me that my user page was deleted. While I reviewed the notability guidelines and think it is a grey area as to whether I qualify as such, I certainly am a bit upset over statements that are 'public' to anyone doing a search as to its deletion where this is stated: "Delete both copies per WP:FAKEARTICLE with a strong suspicion of COI. Subject was deemed non-notable at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chase Fonteno and the page is now the subject of an edit war surrounding Fonteno's alleged financial misdeeds. Pichpich (talk) 22:51, 19 April 2011 (UTC)"
I have won two massive lawsuits, one for $2.4mil and one for just under $8mil that have both exonerated any wrong doings and identified the two parties that published false information on the internet. And while two individuals tried to take over our company and their 'defensive' tactics to try that - their false statements online will change who I am the rest of my life in finance and helping even more individuals own homes that never thought they would (we have to date gotten over 1,000 individuals to own their own homes for typically $500 down and about $400/mo with deed and deed of trust with no credit check to end the ridiculous cycle of slum property) because - thought a judge required all the false items to be removed from the internet, and most were - items like the ripoffreport will never delete anything (oddly under the 'internet decency act') and the idiotic video done by channel 11, which has even removed it from their own site - but one of the parties we won the suit against, copied it into video sites all over the world and will never fully go away regardless of a court order. To have such a 'slap' of both removing my user page and then even allowing a post on wikipedia that leaves concern of anyone reading it that states "strong suspicion of COI" (neither I nor the average person knows what COI is - what is it?) and the statement of "page is now the subject of an edit war surrounding Fonteno's alleged financial misdeeds" certainly comes across as attacking my credibility - even after winning two massive lawsuits proving I did not do anything wrong comes across as lack of even editors of wikipedia of failing to do research and/or at a minimum adding to the damages I have suffered over the two individuals that I finally won a suit over.
Please consider re-allowing my user page - even if you require it to have edits to it. Or at a minimum, please remove the negative suggestions by the statements that I have identified herein.
Also - why is it that a "user page" which I just read about is being edited by everyone? And I also read the article on "fakearticle" which nothing in my "user page" is either false nor meets the criteria of fakearticle.

- User:Chase Fonteno was deleted at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Chase Fonteno because the page violated WP:FAKEARTICLE. Wikipedia is not the place to host promotional deleted content. See also WP:NOTWEBHOST and WP:NOTADVERTISING. Cunard (talk) 02:01, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with the above. Your page was deleted after a community discussion, which concluded that your page violated Wikipedia's policies. I'm sorry but, as a consequence, I cannot undelete the page. If you believe I misinterpreted consensus, you can appeal my closure at WP:DRV. That said, please note that your userpage is not really yours. It belongs to Wikipedia and must, therefore, follow its policies.
Furthermore, the way I read it, the phrase page is now the subject of an edit war surrounding Fonteno's alleged financial misdeeds did not, in my opinion, attack your credibility, because it merely stated that there were editors who were reverting each other without discussing and that this edit war regarded allegations (i.e. accusations that were not yet proven) of financial misdeeds on your part, not that you had committed any of those. However, I fully support Cunard's blanking, to protect your reputation!
"COI" is a shortcut that stands for WP:COI, that is to say Wikipedia's policy regarding conflicts of interest.
Finally, WP:FAKEARTICLE does not that your page is about something that is a fake. It only means that a page in userspace looks like an article and this, under certain circumstances, is not allowed. Salvio Let's talk about it! 02:16, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

- I have courtesy blanked Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Chase Fonteno per your request above ("at a minimum, please remove the negative suggestions by the statements that I have identified herein.") Salvio, would you confirm that this is okay with you? Cunard (talk) 02:04, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

On an entirely unrelated note, have you ever thought about running for adminship? I think you'd be a great candidate! Salvio Let's talk about it! 02:16, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- I don't plan to run for adminship per the reasons I stated here. Wikipedia:I don't want to be an administrator, a 2008 essay by Kodster (talk · contribs), resonates with me. I believe that adminship will take too much time from content building but thanks for asking! Cunard (talk) 02:24, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- I understand perfectly and can vouch it is true. Since I got the mop, a couple of weeks ago, I've had close to no time to edit articles... So, yes, I hear you. It's too bad, though, since you'd be a great addition to the team. See you around! Salvio Let's talk about it! 11:04, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Hey if you have the time...
[edit]... would you help me with something? I need someone with Italian skills and who better than you? I'm going through the article Directive on services in the internal market, removing any copyvios I find, and I've run into a bit of a problem. Many of the sources of the copyrighted text used in the article are actually sources cited in the article, which makes my job a ton easier. However, one of the cited sources is in Italian, and my Italian is less than good. (Understatement of the year...) The source is http://www.edilportale.com/news/2007/01/lavoro/servizi-nella-ue-pubblicata-la-direttiva_9145_33.html. Could you check to see if someone has put a word-for-word translation of the edilpotale.com page anywhere into the article? - Wow that was a quick response! Thanks! I've been doing pretty good, haven't been able to get on Wikipedia as much as I would like, though, because I'm gearing up for finals and a summer of language study — Preceding signed comment added by Cymru.lass (talk • contribs) 19:46, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
- Well, first of all, in bocca al lupo (break a leg); will you go abroad to study? Then, I've read he article and, as far as I can see, there are no word-for word translations of the Italian text. However, this phrase Tra i servizi oggetto della direttiva rientrano numerose attività in costante evoluzione, fra cui: i servizi alle imprese, i servizi di certificazione e di collaudo, di gestione delle strutture, i servizi prestati sia alle imprese sia ai consumatori, i servizi collegati con il settore immobiliare e l’edilizia, compresi i servizi degli architetti. and this one: Services provided to businesses such as management consultancy, certification and testing, facilities management and advertising, and Services provided both to businesses and to consumers, such as real estate agencies, construction services, architects, distribution services, car rental and travel agencies. are somewhat similar. - Thanks for the good luck wishes :) I'm going to Chile for two months to do a homestay/go to school. Not sure where in Chile though just yet! As for the article, I went ahead and Googled those two English phrases and I came up with http://www.deti.ie/trade/marketaccess/singlemarket/05serv252.pdf. This fits another of this person's patterns, which is to copy-paste part of webpage A into the article, then cite webpage B which contains a quote from webpage A. - Heh, only slightly jealous? :P I'm really looking forward to it! The only thing I'm not looking forward to is having 7 months of winter... interview request
[edit]Hello, My name is Natalia Olaru and I am a final year master student in the Corporate Communication programme at the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark. I am currently working on my final paper on the topic of the motivation of users to create content on collaborative media websites, the focus being Wikipedia. As a sample I chose the English and Danish portals. I would like to invite you for an online interview on the topic of what motivates you, as a user, to participate in editing and creating articles for this platform. Your real identity, and wikipedia account will be kept confidential through the paper. I plan on doing the actual interviews in the period between 6st and the 15th of May via Skype, MSN, Google Talk or Yahoo Messenger. I am, however, open to other channels of communication too. Please let me know if you would like to participate in this interview and the preferred channel. Thank you, Natalia Olaru Email: natalia.ioana.olaru@gmail.com --MulgaEscu (talk) 12:51, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
- Noticed this while leaving you a response and wanted to a bit of unsolicited advice. Speaking from a bit of experience, think twice before agreeing to any interview, especially those coming from students. You'll have zero control over how you or Wikipedia is portrayed or even quoted. Even when using only your Wikipedia username, any problems can have an impact on you. Even student papers can be published and become part of some permanent record somewhere. No offense intended to the original requester here but every journalist or student I've talked with in this context comes not with an open mind and desire to gather information, they come with their mind made up and simply looking for quotes to insert into their nearly complete works.--RadioFan (talk) 11:37, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Dear RadioFan, I took no offense from your brief message, moreover I think it is great that you are trying to warn a friend about what your worries. However I would like to underline once more that the real identity AND real Wikipedia ID will not be published in the paper. Using real names, especially when I already stated that I wouldn't would be completely unethical. As for having my mind made up and looking simply for quotes, I can assure you that this is not the case. And I find it quite sad that you have this perception of journalists and especially students. :)--MulgaEscu (talk) 18:43, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Pro Germany
[edit]I would appreciate it if you reconsidered your decision to decline ARV action on User:Pro Germany. COI is another matter. The problem here is that the User name is very similar to the German political party Pro Germany Citizens' Movement which is popularly known as Pro Germany. This looks to me a pretty clear case of WP:ORGNAME.--RadioFan (talk) 19:20, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
- It's not Pro Germany (which I would certainly block), it's Pro Europe (talk · contribs), which, in my opinion, is not a close enough match to justify an outright username block. That's why I pointed you to WP:COIN; alternatively, you can discuss it with them and report them to WP:RFCN, if they do not respond in a satisfactory manner. Salvio Let's talk about it! 20:24, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Re: Curiosity
[edit]Hello Supererogare, first of all I'd like to thank you for reverting vandalism; that's highly appreciated! However, I have a little question: in your edit summaries you indicate that you're using Huggle and you've listed yourself as a huggler, yet you're not a rollbacker, as far as I can see, which is a requirement to use Huggle. So, my question is: how is it possible for you to use it? Salvio Let's talk about it! 21:53, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hey Salvio. Yes, I'm using huggle, but I grabbed the code from http://code.google.com/p/huggle/ and modified it a little. I then unchecked System -> Options -> Use rollback if available. It seems to be working OK... I use to edit on wikipedia a while back but I can't remember what email / user I used. Supererogare (talk) 22:04, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not really sure you can use it... Don't get me wrong, you're doing a jolly good job with it, from what I've seen, but you're circumventing Wikipedia's rules (since with Huggle one can cause a massive mess, the tool can only be used after an admin has vetted one's contributions). I fear I have to ask you to stop for the moment. If you wish, I can give you the confirmed flag, so that you can use Twinkle, in the meantime, or WP:LUPIN.
If you wish, however, I can ask for further input on WP:ANI, to see what's the consensus of the community, because this is the first time I've encountered such a use of Huggle.
Again, please, do not take this as a way to tell you that your contributions are not appreciated! Salvio Let's talk about it! 22:11, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

Some advice
[edit]I'm Blackash one of the involved editors at the Tree shaping arbitration evidence page I've reread the top of the evidence page. I took it to mean 500 words and 50 diff of evidence per editor, but looking at the size of my Evidence maybe I got it wrong. I moved all content related stuff to the talk page but my evidence section is still long. I have a two part problem, I have multiple editors to give behavior diffs on and I still need to address the diffs about my behavior. Please give me some advice. Blackash have a chat 07:43, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- Well, your evidence is more than 5000 words long. I'm not used to blindly enforcing rules, but your section is far too long. My suggestion would be to split it, leaving only the most important parts of it on the page and moving the rest to the talk page. It will be read all the same; if you wish to emphasise the splitting you can also highlight it at the beginning of your section, providing a wikilink to the relevant talk page thread.
