Deletion of Rivers
[edit]The issue of the criteria for rivers has been discussed several times. A consensus has been reached that there is no criterion for the minimum importance of a river in order to be included in Wikipedia. I fail to understand your concerns.Afil (talk) 02:25, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Your edit to User:ESanchez013
[edit]The user page had not been vandalised; it was requested by the user according to this request and this edit summary. As the user has not returned (and is currently blocked from editing, as a result of using a shared IP address also used by a vandal), I've undone your edit. —Snigbrook 20:25, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's the user's page, he wanted it blanked and because he had been blocked he had to request it from another user. —Snigbrook 20:47, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Very nice -- thanks for that. One comment, though (before someone mentions it): "users" in this case is possessive and takes an apostrophe. --Michael K. Smith (talk) 22:04, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

- Just go here, click 'edit', and write "This user is now known as _________". However, what you should have done is simply changed your username.//roux 20:28, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
{{help me}} It might seem strange but I want to join help me but I can't I just want to help people please give me a step by step guild. thanks, Isamukage 13:41, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Its not so much something you can join, there is no step by step guide. All any of us can do is keep an eye on Category:Wikipedians looking for help and try your best to answer any questions people may have--Jac16888Talk 13:48, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- (e/c) There is no formal "joining" of the helpme function. Rather, users who want to participate either monitor Category:Wikipedians looking for help, or monitor the IRC channel #wikipedia-en-help, which is notified whenever the template is used. You can join that channel (chat room) if you want to help out (click here for instant access). I use User:Ais523/catwatch.js to keep abreast of the category, and is how I came across your question. Of course, you can just simply drop by the category every so often, but that's a very hit or miss way of participating. You might find Wikipedia:Help desk/How to answer a useful general resource for how to answer questions, as well as {{help desk templates}} (included on that page) of interest. Note also the following handy template, tailored to this category: {{Helpme-nq}}, which addresses those users who place {{helpme}} on their talk page but fail to ask a question (this is not uncommon for whatever reason). Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:American shaolin2.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:American shaolin2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:29, 17 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —SpaceFlight89 18:29, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding the source! As its a DVD cover, it is non-free; I've removed the [2] CC-BY-SA and GFDL tags and added a fair use tag instead. —SpaceFlight89 18:43, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Help - citations
[edit]{{help me}}
I offen do minor edits and i would like to know how to cite refrences because come of my bigger edit have been reverted for me not citing infomation
thanks,
SaiyanEmperor2008(talk)(Contribs) 15:48, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- Take a look at WP:CITE for full deatils. In brief, though, you cite a source by using <ref> tags:
- eg. This is some article text.<ref>[http://www.example.com Example reference]</ref>.
- Use a {{reflist}} template at the bottom of the page (under the references header) to make the reference appear as a footnote. (The reflist template will probably be there already, so you won't need to add it.) ∙ AJChamtalk 16:21, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

- Use another {{helpme}} here; or

MOTDs (This space for rent)
[edit]You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 14:09, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014
[edit]→ The uneducated child is not just my problem, it's the state's problem.
Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.
Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
- This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).
Contests
[edit]User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:36, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
