Saint John, New Brunswick

Hello,

Ive noticed you have been making some changes to the Saint John page recently, and that is a good thing because it needs a lot of work. Unfortunately you are going about it the wrong way. Wikipedia does not like people uploading copyrighted images and then pretending they are not, so please cease doing so. If you want to make the page better perhaps you can upload your own pictures or ask the holders of the copyrights if it is ok that you use them. If you continue to make these types of edits I will be forced to recommend your account for a block. I really would like to avoid that however seeing as you are new to this. Another user has been reverting your edits all day, and now so have I, please do not make me have to do so again :). If you wise to make the page better research some info and provide references for it.

Hello, sorry for the mishap. In the past I have been burned myself for uploading pics from Flickr so I figured there was no proper way to do it. However that other guy is right some pictures are listed under the CC 2.0 liscense and those are good to use! So you can go ahead and add those into the article!

Flickr images

Hi, a couple of the "copyright violations" above where actualy ok. It was wrong to tag them as GFDL licensed, but they where released under Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 wich is also an acceptable license, so I fixed those. The other two have been deleted since they where not released under free licenses. When looking for images on Flickr look for the license info on the image before uploading it here. If it says "All rights reserved" the image is not usable, if however it says "some rights reserved" the image may be usable. Click on the link to see the full license. If it does not say "non-commercial" or "no derivatives" the image is acceptable for Wikipedia. A good trick is to go into the advanced search option on Flickr and check off all three boxes under the Creative Commons section. That will filter out all non-free hits, only giving you images that are suitable for uploading to Wikipedia. Best of luck.

If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.
