[edit]So first I have a question For you:- Imagine that there is a Extra terrestrial living being in a small planet that planet is 5 billion light years away form us and that extra terrestrial being (ALIEN) have advanced telescope and it is watching towards us what will it see? Answer:-nothing because there is no earth like planet before 5 billion years ago Are you confused? so let me explain it: So what is light year light year is nothing but a distance light travels in a year . if that extra terrestrial organism should watch it the sun rays should reflect from the earth and it should travel 5 billion light years so that alien could see so the light rays coming towards alien are 5 billion years past light rays but earth is formed 4.5 billion years ago so after 4.5 billion years that organism can see there is a planet like earth but what he is seeing is 4.5 billion years past rays not present
