July 2020

[edit]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself, at Melisa Teo. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. I am NOT Melisa Teo

[edit]

Hi Vexations I just wanted to reply to you and make it very clear that I am not Melisa Teo. Further to that, I also think it's very unprofessional of you to leave comments like this on the page where the article is being edited: "funny how we (Wikipedia) know what she is "currently working on" unless of course Teo herself is somehow involved in writing this article."

Firstly, what's so funny about anything? And secondly, she isn't involved in writing the article. Since I first started writing the article about three weeks ago, I've been waiting for Wiki editors to give me feedback and advice to I can correct things and make it better. If you take a look at the Talk page of the article on June 29, I left a message specifically asking for help so it would meet Wiki's guidelines, but no one replied.

Just to be clear, I don't want to write an article about myself but I DO want to write one about this Singaporean photographer. There are plenty of sources and citations that show she is a photographer of note and deserves her own Wiki page. So I have a couple of questions for you. How can you help me improve this article so that it meets all of Wiki's criteria? And what steps should I take to prove to you that I am not the photographer Melisa Teo? I received an email from Wiki about your notification which went to my gmail account which is in my own name. If you give me an email address I'll be happy to forward that to you.

I look forward to discussing this further with you. Take care and all the best. Safari18 (talk) 22:23, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Safari18, thanks for clearing that up. Well, you make claims about her that very few people that only rely on published sources could know. So that's "funny" in the sense of "difficult to explain or understand; strange or odd", not humorous. I don't think that's unprofessional, and frankly, we take a rather dim view of professionals editing biographies, per WP:PAID. If your connection to Teo requies disclosure, please do so. If not, then happy editing. Vexations (talk) 22:37, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vexations, apologises for sounding a bit harsh in my earlier reply. I thought you were trying to be funny but I see where you're coming from now. Just so you know I haven't been hired by Teo to write the article, nor am I being paid by anyone to do it. Neither do I work for a PR company, publishing house or advertising agency. I've just been following this photographer's career for a number of years and honestly believe that more people should know about her work. That's basically the reason I put the page up. I'm doing my best to keep within all of Wiki's rules and guidelines and appreciate any help that you and other editors can give me so the article is published. Thanks also for your earlier feedback. I'm currently sourcing the extra information needed for the new citations. Safari18 (talk) 22:50, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
