Hello Sadie stewart. Wikipedia is a project to build a free encyclopedia to share knowledge. It has no other goals. Wikipedia editors work together to write and improve encyclopedia articles, and we already have over 5 million of them, a large percentage of which can use work. So, that's how people gain recognition here - by improving the encyclopedia.
