Your edits

[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

Please discuss your linkadditions to sacredland on talkpages or with a wikiproject. Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 21:57, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by adding your personal analysis or synthesis into articles, as you did to Lake Cowal, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Bidgee (talk) 23:49, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Lake Baikal, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing their websites from appearing on Wikipedia.

Please stop with this self-promotion. Seek contact with established editors on the talkpage or on an appropriate wikiproject first. --Dirk Beetstra T C 23:56, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lake Cowal

[edit]

I'm sorry but you can't add anything which is from Sacredland.org since you have a Conflict of Interest with the site which also means that you're also adding original research which Wikipedia has a policy no original research. Bidgee (talk) 00:03, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I answered to you, Sacredland, on my talkpage. --Dirk Beetstra T C 00:12, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

username block

[edit]
This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.

You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I think that my account should be unblocked because of confusion regarding the username. I realize how it looks, but it was not at all intended as a method of promotion - the Sacred Land Film Project is a non-profit organization sponsored by the Earth Island Institute and currently maintains 501(c)(3) legal status. I merely wanted to use the Sacredland website because it provides reports on various sacred places around the world and contains a lot of information that many of the Wikipedia articles could use. All of the information I added was neutral and useful to the pre-existing pages and was not designed to promote Sacredland's views. I assure you that my only intention was to improve the articles with what I found to be a helpful and thorough external link. I've never edited Wikipedia before, and I unintentionally chose a questionable username. For this reason, I'm requesting to be unblocked so I can edit articles again with a less confusing name and with absolutely no intention of "spamming". Thank you.

Decline reason:

Please choose a new username and answer Daniel's question underneath — Spartaz Humbug! 17:19, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Sacredland (talk) 16:35, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You were softblocked, so it would be easier for us and you if you went and opened a new account under an acceptable username (please feel free to run any suggestions by us). Do you have any interest in editing other than adding that link, though? Daniel Case (talk) 23:41, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the delay - I was out of town for a few days. I still have interest in adding information from sacredland.org to various articles, but I can assure you that I'm merely a student interested in improving the existing articles on Wikipedia. I was looking around the sacredland site and I found reference pages and resources for almost every article it had, which I hope shows the reliability of the site. I would also think about editing articles on other topics, particularly related to linguistics (another academic interest). I hope this answers the question. I also created the username LHCAUSA before I left on vacation. It is a reference to my hometown, but please let me know if it is somehow unacceptable.Sacredland (talk) 21:27, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
