My concern is that of the notability of the subject. Please take a read of our guidelines, and edit the article, citing sources that prove that the website meets those guidelines. Please do not remove the deletion notice from the article, but you may wish to offer why you think the article should not be deleted at the discussion. Please bear in mind, I would prefer for the article to be improved, rather than for it to be deleted. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any help. J Milburn 21:22, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An explanation of how to cite sources can be found here, and a list of helpful citation templates can be found here. J Milburn 21:49, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To establish the notability of the subject, third party, reliable sources need to be cited. Has the website received any attention from newspapers, magazines or other, reliable websites? If so, please cite the relevant articles. Primary sources are ok for some things, but are no good for establishing notability. As for how long the article will remain tagged- there will be five days in which editors can comment on whether the article should be deleted, after which time an administrator will decide what is to be done with the article, or perhaps allow a longer amount of time for discussion. Sometimes debates are closed before then. J Milburn 22:48, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Right, I can see that the article deserves to be kept, and that you are willing to work on it, so I will withdraw my deletion nomination, then get back to you with ways you can further improve the article. J Milburn 23:16, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, someone has already commented at the debate, so it would be bad form to withdraw it now. What the user has said is very valid- the article seems to be written in the style of an advert for the website. Wikipedia's articles are written from the neutral point of view, and so phrases like "then Dubai Lime is the place for them" are inappropriate, and the way the article talks about the lack of banner ads and the like is also rather questionable. Instead, the article should focus on the purpose of the site, its history, and what it has gained attention in the press for. J Milburn 23:21, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It certainly establishes the notability of the website, and some of them will make great references for when the article progresses further. J Milburn 23:36, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't really count for much in terms of Wikipedia notability- however, the news articles you have provided certainly do. J Milburn 23:45, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, and there's no need to add more links unless you are specifically using them as sources. We don't add signatures to articles, only messages that we write on talk pages (or occasionally other pages where we discuss things, like deletion debates, but never articles). J Milburn 00:02, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia articles should not contain first hand information- that would violate our no original research policy. All information should be attributed to reliable sources. J Milburn 00:12, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blogs are not considered reliable sources, so no, they can't be used as references. The print articles are great references though. I'll take another read now. J Milburn 00:19, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Still, it reads like an advert. For instance, rather than "People who are new to Dubai and looking to make friends, looking to expand their social circle or even if they are just looking for something to do during the week then the website Dubai Lime is worth a visit"- which is very much an opinion, something like "The site is aimed at people new to Dubai, and residents who are looking to make friends in the local area." Avoid opinion, stick to facts. J Milburn 00:24, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I've had a look at the article and edited it a little; it could still do with more internal links, which is what the tag at the top is about. Not sure what you mean by 'international editor'- I'm an administrator and contribute only to the English language Wikipedia, and although I do write about my local area, I also edit articles about all sorts of things, as you can see. Thanks for the comment about my articles! J Milburn 00:58, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, no, I don't write outside of Wikipedia- I'm just starting college tomorrow, so I'm not really at that level yet. Yeah, external links should be kept to a minimum, and it would be best if you move some of the news articles to references- better articles use lots of references (preferably as footnotes) and only a few external links. License tagging for Image:Maindubailime.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Maindubailime.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:07, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Dubai Lime

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Dubai Lime, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD a7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Liquidfinale (Ţ) (Ç) (Ŵ) 15:28, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:DubaiLimeLogo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DubaiLimeLogo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:45, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
