Information icon Hello, I'm Titusfox. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Samote Union Council without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I have restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Speedy deletion nomination of KallarSyedan[edit]

Hello Saadat Hussain Malik,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged KallarSyedan for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, [[{{{article}}}]].

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Arthistorian1977 (talk) 17:47, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with upload of File:Samote Union Council.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Samote Union Council.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Samote Union Council[edit]

Hello Saadat Hussain Malik, I just noticed you removed the merged template from both pages Samote Union Council and Samote without giving any reason. I have added the merge template again because I feel it's the case of WP:Content forking because both articles looks copy of each other. Please feel free to share your thoughts on this so we can take a possible decision. I also request you please do not remove the template again and please add your comment at this talk page and explain why you feel the articles should not be merged. Regards GSS (talk) 07:04, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comment I have redirected the Samote article to the Samote Union Council Article. Richard Harvey (talk) 02:37, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

About your recently created articles[edit]

Hello Saadat!

Welcome to Wikipedia!

I have been going through your recently created articles and most of them had few common problems which may cause your articles to get easily deleted per Wikipedia's policies. The most obvious is that there are no references in most of your articles. Remember, one of the core Wikipedia's rules is WP:Verifiability which means that the significance of the subject of the article has to be verified using reliable sources. So work on that. Most of your articles have no categories so you may take help HERE. In case you have questions or get stuck somewhere, you can ask me on my talk page. Pixarh (talk) 16:47, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted the entire text you placed in the Historic Places section, as it is a blatant copyright violation from:-http://www.thesikhencyclopedia.com/biographies/sikh-political-figures/khem-singh-bedi, as I stated in my Edit Summary. Replacing it is regarded as vandalism. If you replace it again you will be blocked from editing. Richard Harvey (talk) 02:47, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your additional copyright violation to this article, copied from:- http://www.chohakhalsa.com/choha%20khalsa/choha_khalsa_history.htm has also been removed. Richard Harvey (talk) 03:26, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Saadat Hussain Malik, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your addition to Kallar Syedan has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Katietalk 03:43, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Guff[edit]

I have removed your edit to Guff, a Disambiguation page, which you probably meant to add to UC Guff, which you created. To reduce the chance of accidentally editing the wrong article again I have renamed UC Guff to Guff, Punjab, ie to a place within Pakistan, as done with several locations with the same name, for example Halifax. Additionally I have added your edit to the newly named article. and added the article to the disambiguation page. Richard Harvey (talk) 17:19, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lt. Col (R) Muhammad Shabbir Awan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.pakistanileaders.com.pk/profile/Muhammad_Shabbir_Awan. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. reddogsix (talk) 03:44, 12 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Samote Union Council for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Samote Union Council is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Samote Union Council until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Richard Harvey (talk) 18:21, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Samote Union Council Map.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Samote Union Council Map.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 20:22, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Saadat Hussain Malik, I have removed the table from this newly created category. Assuming the topic is notable and can be verified by reliable sources, such information should only be in the relevant article itself. Please see Wikipedia:Categorization for more information on Wikipedia's categorization system. If the category is kept, itself should be also categorized in other related categories - Wikipedia:Categorization provides more information about such "category trees". Best regards.
