Hala's Peer Review

[edit]

Firstly, I would like to say that focusing on the Ewe Unification movement is a great idea because I have never heard of it before. It looks like you have done a very thorough job on the article thus far. The sections are very well developed and include a lot of research and information. The sources that you have provided seem to be accurate and supportive of the information that is provided. I think that the room for improvement would be with expanding the article by adding in more information from research and finalizing the article. I think that the most important thing the author could do to improve would be expanding upon the “National Liberation Movement of Western Togoland.” This section does not seem to have balanced coverage compared to the rest of the sections in the article. I think that the article is well-organized and the structure makes sense. I like how it moves from Colonialism to World War 1 and late colonialism. Colonialism is an important part of understanding the Ewe Unification movement as a whole. I want to mention that you added many pictures of flags and a map in your article, which I think is very applicable to my own article. A question I would have about the topic is whether or not there was any violence caused by the unification movements. In the “In Ghana” section it states that there was tension when Nkrumah sought a Ghanian-led unification with Togo. Are these tensions generally resulting in outbreaks of violence? This could be a potential area of research and addition to the article.
