{{unblock| As other universities have uploaded their history and information on Wikipedia, Seoul National University's Institute of International Affairs wants to inform viewers about its history, organization and work that contributes to international affairs and global trends. As a non-profit organization and academic institution, the IIA never made the Wikipedia page for commercial use. It was only to introduce the institute to a global audience. SNU IIA aspires to neutrally deliver the facts about the institution and archive its historical accomplishments. Given this situation, we were wondering how we can prevent getting blocked again and whether the username could be recognized as "non-promotional" or "uncommercial". We would like to be reconsidered for publication and will definitely comply to the guidelines given by administrators. Once again, SNU IIA's Wikipedia page was never for commercial use, and would love to simply inform viewers about the institution}

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Requested username:

Request reason:

As other universities have uploaded their history and information on Wikipedia, Seoul National University's Institute of International Affairs wants to inform viewers about its history, organization and work that contributes to international affairs and global trends. As a non-profit organization and academic institution, the IIA never made the Wikipedia page for commercial use. It was only to introduce the institute to a global audience. SNU IIA aspires to neutrally deliver the facts about the institution and archive its historical accomplishments. Given this situation, we were wondering how we can prevent getting blocked again and whether the username could be recognized as "non-promotional" or "uncommercial". If it still does not comply to the username guidelines, we would love to change it accordingly. Moreover, we would like to be reconsidered for publication and will definitely comply to the guidelines given by administrators. Once again, SNU IIA's Wikipedia page was never for commercial use, and would love to simply inform viewers about the institution.

Decline reason:

Your choice of new username is equally unacceptable. Please review the username policy; your username must indicate that a single individual is exclusively operating this account, and that no one else has access to it. You do not need to use your real name, but you do need something unique to you. If you wish your university to be a part of your username, you may format it as "Username of SNUIIA" or something similar. Regarding the block itself, articles are typically written by independent editors, not the subject of the article. Your purpose here, "Seoul National University's Institute of International Affairs wants to inform viewers about its history, organization and work" is a promotional purpose and not permitted on Wikipedia. Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about (in this case) an organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Wikipedia is not interested in what an organization says about itself. Please review conflict of interest and paid editing. You won't be unblocked to make edits about your institute; if that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road for your Wikipedia career. If you want to edit about topics unrelated to your conflict of interest, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 10:05, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
