Orphaned non-free image (Image:DC Kate Spears.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DC Kate Spears.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:42, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pollokshields Minimarket

[edit]

You can't delete the article! I've just begun! I'm looking for refernces and the popularity of this market is of the highest callibre! YOU CAN'T DELETE IT! And Why? The market has been a popular place for people there! LOTRrules 11:30, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Sorry about that article, I thought it might meet the criteria for speedy deletion and an admin must have decided that it did and deleted it. If you want to recreate the article and maybe put an under construction tag on it or something and state that you're trying to find references. Otherwise you'd need to state it's significance clearly and put in the references when you first create the article so that another editor doesn't tag it for deletion as well.
Once again, sorry =) SMC89 01:51, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Druid Order Page

[edit]

Hi there

Allen he's got no telly here, I didn't remove it malicously I only did it after checking a couple of things. 1. The wikipedia Artcile on John Toland himself has the same content and no notability notice. 2. The OBOD article carries the same story (albiet without the refernce to John Toland) that article is pretty similar to what I am trying to do (doucment a Druid order)

I've also added in some source references, so let me know if you think these are up to scratch or not.

All the best

Sorry if that came across wrong, I didn't mean to accuse you of doing it maliciously =) I added the notice because I wasn't sure whether it was notable or not since I'm not familiar with the topic! It's looking good so far, the best thing you could probably do is keep going with adding information about the Order and its role/significance and then just reference some external sources at the bottom of the article with the usual 'ref' tags. All the best to you too =) SMC89 12:48, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism warning

[edit]

Hi. I just reverted some vandalism on the Peter Costello page and when I tried to warn the IP it told me an identical warn had just been issued by you. So I checked the page history to make sure I had reverted the vandalism. Now I'm just wondering why you warned the IP if I reverted it? Thanks for clearing this up! Deflagro Contribs/Talk 14:36, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah this happens occassionally, I'm using Twinkle and when I click the rollback button it does it's thing without any warnings (i.e. of someone else already having reverted it) and then it turns out someone actually has somehow got in there first and made the revert. Usually it will tell me that someone's done it but it must be something to do with the timing of page loads etc.SMC89 14:38, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah okay! I also use Twinkle and I know it sometimes tell me warnings. Good job though on the vandal-fighting! Deflagro Contribs/Talk 14:40, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Person chemistry

[edit]

Hi!

I am a Swede, who has started to learn more about how to use Wiki. I searched for Person Chemistry and found nothing. Therefore I did an article, but obviously with many mistakes. Then I searched for Personal Chemistry and was redircted to Interpersonal Chemistry and learned a new word in English. The word is very useful to me, because I have worked with Interpersonal Chemistry since 1988 with a certain methodology, which I have developed myself. It is based on the fact that the personality influences a lot the Interpersonal Chemistry between two persons.

My wishes is now -to add a redirection from person chemistry to Interpersonal Chemistry (good for at least Swedes) -to add to the Interpersonal Chemistry article about my findings that similarities in personality goes along well, except for people with a lot of exposure need, because they could be rival about the audience. Differences in personality can cause irritation/conflicts. However persons with high self-esteem see most often the differences as complementary, but for persons with low self-esteem the difference can cause a thret, because they don't understand the other person's personality.

All the best Rolf

p.s. Google me, if you wish information about me. d.s.

Hi Rolf, welcome to Wikipedia =) There are a few guidelines that govern what we can and can't add to Wikipedia. I proposed deletion of the article because it read like a dictionary entry which is one of the things that Wikipedia is not.
In answer to your questions:
  • To redirect the Person chemistry page, just click on that red link and type "#REDIRECT [[Interpersonal chemistry]]" without the quotes and save the page. The next time you navigate to your new page, it will go straight to the other article.
  • It's great that you have some information to add to the Interpersonal chemistry article, just make sure that you read through the What wikipedia is not article so that you are clear on concepts such as original research. Things that you add should, where possible, be supported by citations to reliable external sources. If there is anything contraversial that you wish to add, it's best to discuss your thoughts on the article's talk page first.
Good luck =) If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask! SMC89 06:35, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sanko Pazarlama

[edit]

Hello, i just would like to thank you for your attention to my work. Let me prove if I edit right: You can look at web site of sanko holding: www.sanko.com.tr. You will see that owners of Sanko Pazarlama and Sanko Holding are the same. Also you can visit Istanbul Chamber of Trade to see if Sanko is really largest congloramate of Anatolia. Thank you for your attention. Best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brianithaca (talkcontribs) 10 August 2007

Hi =) It's not really the fact that you have written anything wrong - it's just that the article did not meet Wikipedia's standards because it was so short providing little context to readers. If you want to recreate the article then it is important that you assert the company's significance and you would need to expand the article. If it is an arm of Sanko Holding, perhaps it would be better to include your information on that parent article and create a redirect to that instead if you're not confident that you can add enough information for an article of its own. Good luck =) If you have any questions, just ask! SMC89 ( talkcontribs ) 08:38, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi I have nothing to say other than "yes you are right". Thank you for your support. Not easy to reply like I had from you, so can you please read my article about Hakan Ozkok. It was going to be deleted but I put a hang on. So its still there. That guy is really one of the most interesting personality in this region and he is on regional TV channels time to time. Its a very populated region and very important area and he is planing to get into elections so I am sure people need information about him. Please provide me any help so that article stays in wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brianithaca (talkcontribs) 10 August 2007
You're very welcome =) Regarding Hakan Ozkok, it's a good contribution so far so thanks very much. The reason that the article was proposed for deletion is due to notability issues. First of all I'd reccomend that you read Wikipedia's notability guidelines to see what is expected of an article about a person. Also, there are guidelines for biographies of living persons which are also important. In short you basically need to make sure you state why he is important and back this up with links to websites or information from books etc. For example, if he is going up for elections then make sure you say in the article what the election is for and how he is involved. Good luck =) SMC89 ( talkcontribs ) 08:54, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Karl Stefanovic Vandalism?

[edit]

Am I being targeted? You have missed a major mistake on Karl's page but chose to change my edit. It was my belief that karl is a robot and that R2D2 was his child. Obviously I had been misled and that will teach me not to check my sources more thouroughly. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dizzystufffolks (talkcontribs) 12:29, August 20, 2007 (UTC).

No it's not just you that's being targeted, you are a vandal and all vandals are targeted. It's childish behaviour and fair enough if they are your beliefs, but they are clearly false and therefore have no place here on Wikipedia so please take a hint and vandalise somewhere else. SMC89 ( talkcontribs ) 13:21, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use disputed for Image:Chisholm Perth Crest.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Chisholm Perth Crest.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. [edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PC Gemma Osbourne.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Hey mate, how are you? i'd like to visit Australia one day its got better wheather that sunny old England lol. I was just wondering you see that border you have i'm interested in getting one of those is their a page where you can choose from them like the Wiki Userboxes or something else?

Thanks in advance

Police,Mad,Jack

Hey, I'm very well thanks =) I think you'd really enjoy Australia, I hope you can make it out here one day!
I nicked the border off someone else's page and modified it and you're more than welcome to do the same here. I've simplified my coding a bit for you by inserting little tags so you can find it. Just begin editing my userpage/talk page and copy and paste the coding for the page border - it's at the very top. Insert it at the top of your coding and change the hex values to change colours to your liking. If you're unfamiliar with hex values, there's a simple colour chart at http://html-color-codes.com
Sorry, I tried to put the code into this message but it wouldn't work properly so you can just copy and paste from mine. If you have any questions just ask =) happy editing! SMC89 ( talkcontribs ) 12:32, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dr Michael Meenaghan

[edit]

I am trying to add Micahel meenaghan and eminent scientist who was murdered on december 10th 1994 the crime remains unsolved. He is notable because of his discoveries in the the field of T-cell research and his case was high profile at the time. Thre are many references to his work and his life on the net, but I have no idea how to add references on here. The page is being disputed and I dont know how to stop that either!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neiceymann (talkcontribs) 23:54, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the article you created was nominated for speedy deletion because it did not really conform to Wikipedia's notability guidelines which state what kind of information is and is not acceptable in articles about people. The article seemed to focus more on his unsolved murder than him and his accomplishments. Basically you need to steer away from the murder (i.e. have it as a small conclusion) and state why he was notable (e.g. what was so special about his work that set him apart from all the other scientists working with T-cells and how does his work impact on our lives today). I would suggest reading the notability guidelines for more information.
To contest a speedy deletion, you simply have to use the 'hangon' template by typing {{hangon}} after the speedy deletion template, before the article is actually deleted. You must also state why the article should not be deleted on the article's talk page.
To reference in the article, you can use the templates located on this page If you need any other help, please ask =) Thanks, SMC89 ( talkcontribs ) 10:56, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged Image:DC_Juliet_Becker.jpg as a disputed use of non-free media, because there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please clarify your fair use rationale on the image description page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 02:53, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:PC Danesh Patel.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PC Danesh Patel.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

The Bill Character Articles

[edit]

I cant believe how most of them have been deleted for such a crappy reason like no citations. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 12:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeh i know - most of them were stubs without a real need for references. I mean why would you need to reference the fact that they are characters from The Bill. It's like having to reference that Kevin Rudd is the Prime Minister of Australia. It's pretty obvious. I guess someone thought otherwise though! If I had more time on my hands and knew about the PRODs I'd have fixed them up or contested, but oh well... SMC89 ( talkcontribs ) 09:46, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your rollback request

[edit]

Rollback granted. Just remember that rollback should only be used for reverting vandalism, as should Huggle, and that misuse (either by using them to revert good-faith edits or to revet-war) can lead to the removal of both tools. For practice, you may be interested in seeing Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 15:25, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:DS Jim Carver.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Creating new page - looking for advice

[edit]

Hi there,

I'm creating a page for a company called EurActiv, quite a famous media platform.

I noticed that you helped create the following page, and I was wondering if you could check out the code for the new page I'm working on..

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/EUX.TV

Thank you so much!

EurActiv

Introduction

[edit]

EurActiv is an independent European media platform specialised in the online publication of articles dealing with European news, and European-centric topics. It is present across 12 EU capitals.[1]

EurActiv.com[2] was founded in 1999 by Christophe Leclercq, following which EurActiv.fr[3] was launched to cater EU news to the French population. [4]

EurActiv publishes its articles in 12 languages, providing free in—depth information to a Community of EU Actors.[5]

Activities

[edit]

With its main office based in Brussels, EurActiv is at the heart of EU debates; enabling the media platform to provide up to date, relevant and trusted information. EurActiv often focusses its attention on the positioning of EU Actors at the pre-legislative stage of decision-making. The content is available in 12 languages. [6][7]

Apart from EurActiv’s sites running out of Belgium, France, Germany and the UK, 10 other offices are spread around Europe: Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Italy, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria and Poland. [8]

Each national website republishes content from EurActiv.com in their respective languages, with additional content relevant to their own situation within the EU. EurActiv has done this so that there can be synergy between the “Brussels Perspective” of EU Affairs and an exclusively national point of view more suited to local readership. This has meant that 80% of EurActiv readers are addressed in their own language. [9] EurActiv also acts as a dissemination partner for EU research projects, providing communication support throughout the project life-cycle: from communication plan, through project launch, major events and project milestones, to final report. [10]

In October 2007, EurActiv launched a blogging platform named BlogActiv where over 500 contributors blog about their EU-related topic, for which they are often dedicated specialists. [11]

Fondation EurActiv

[edit]

EurActiv also founded the Fondation EurActiv Politech[12] (founded under Belgian law, acting primarily to bring together individuals and organisations seeking to shape European Union policies). According to EurActiv [13], the Foundation “does not lobby, except to promote online media independence, and is not aligned to any political faction or faith group”.[14]

Financial Model

[edit]

EurActiv’s online media content is accessible for free, but copyrighted.[15] EurActiv is financed by a variety of EU Actors, be they of public or private origin. Via sponsoring, memberships and other such ventures, EurActiv offers these actors dedicated insight into a particular area of EU policy-making. For example, in 2015, EurActiv has has contributions from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Sanofi and Regeneron.[16] The online media also has content sharing agreements with other news platforms, such a La Tribune, Der Taggespiegel and The Guardian.

Audience

[edit]

EurActiv boasts well over 650,000 unique monthly visitors to its websites and has over 2.8 million page views per month. [17] These particular statistics put EurActiv at the top of EU Affairs-focussed online media platforms. [18]
