Question

[edit]

Hi there SLPalmer55. I'm a volunteer on conflict of interest related subjects and came across your contributions in relation to another editor. I have a simple question: are you paid for the things you write about on Wikipedia? If the answer is yes, it's not the end of the world, but there are some things you will have to do to continue editing here. You can just reply here, I'll be watching for an answer. Thanks. Undisclosed paid editing

Sarah, you are clearly here under your own name, and are this person. If you do not disclose your conflict of interest you are going to be blocked. Please reply and work with us. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 14:07, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jytdog, I'm not sure how I can work with you at this point, as all of my contributions have already been removed from Wikipedia. What would you like me to do? SLPalmer55 (talk) 17:28, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

All of your contributions have been removed? Did you not create the following:
as well as editing the following?
Brianhe (talk) 18:20, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon the hyperbole in my frustration. I guess what I meant was that many of my contributions on which I spent a great deal of time have been removed. A jury of my peers deemed that these contributions were not up to Wikipedia standards, so I cannot justly complain.

According to the “conflict of interest” page, I suppose I do have a conflict of interest. Being employed by Lightology, I am personally familiar with the company and its owner, Greg Kay. I suppose that since I did work on these contributions while on the clock, I was technically paid to write them.

I understand that you all want to keep Wikipedia’s content as neutral and unbiased as possible, but I feel that most things on Wikipedia are written by people who have at least a passing interest in the subject matter. Why else would anybody write about a given subject? At any rate, I honestly do believe that the subjects I wrote about are of note and deserve a place on Wikipedia; I’m sorry that others don’t yet agree.
