Image copyright problem with Image:Deletedarthur.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Deletedarthur.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 18:51, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thanks for reminding me.S.C.Ruffeyfan 19:19, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
I suppose I should say 'congratulations on creating your first article'. The reason I say 'suppose' is because there are a few problems with the article that you are going to have to deal with if you want to avoid it being deleted.
- Copyright violation -- I followed the link and found that the article text is pretty much word-for-word what is on the linked page. This is just not allowed. The copyright in that text belongs to the website owners, and it cannot be copied here. Anyone else who spots this is quite at liberty to delete the offending text - result: no article!
- Fortunately there is a solution. 'All' you have to do is rewrite the text in your own words, so that it no longer looks like it has been copied off that website.
- Notability -- I'm not sure I can help much with this one, but you can. I had no idea that this boat existed (nor the TV series, come to that!), and I think it is just as worthy of an article as the other individual boats on WP. What you need to do is trawl the internet looking for really good websites that refer to the boat specifically and indicate its importance. For example, it has been used to tour around America promoting water safety -- that is worth mentioning in the article as a section on its own.
- Verifiability -- if you resolve the Notability issues, this should be sorted too
- General editing points:
- The article does not belong to a category yet
- There are almost no wikilinks to other pages -- in particular, Theodore Tugboat!!
- A section on the construction, origins, and history of the boat is needed
- A picture or two. Obviously you must make sure they are free images
- The reference to Day out with Thomas is not appropriate and should be removed
There, that'll do you for now! Don't be disheartened. If you tackle these points you could make it into a quite decent article.
Have fun!
EdJogg 23:52, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, you could probably keep more of the text you removed -- such as the inspiration for the character -- you just neeed to make sure the words are in a different order!
- Incidentally, when you wikilink to another article, you do not need to add the name twice Theodore Too , is fine (rather than Theodore Too , unless you wanted to refer to it by another name (for example, Two-door Theo produces Two-door Theo).

Uploading images
[edit]Well, you seem to have got the hang of uploading, although it is traditional to use a filename that has something to do with the picture...
It is better if the images can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, as they can be used on more than just the English-language Wikipedia, but learning about that can wait for another day.
Now, as you can see from the above message, WP is hot on ensuring Copyright is attributed properly. The image you have uploaded has been sourced from a website, and hence the copyright belongs to the owners of that website. You cannot say that YOU are the copyright holder, because you are not. There is the possibility that the copyright holder could release the photograph into the public domain, which would mean that anyone could use it for any purpose, including commercial purposes. (For this, it would be easiest if they uploaded the photo for you, and gave it the appropriate GFDL licence for anyone to use.) I am no expert on these matters, but there are pages elsewhere on WP where there are people who would be able to advise you better.
Alternatively, have a look on Flickr and elsewhere, in case you can find a picture that has been released on a GFDL and/or a 'Creative Commons' licence, as these should be available for us to use here. Alternatively again, ask someone on a Theodore Tugboat forum. Good luck!

Re: RFA
[edit]- Hello there, I do indeed. "RFA" is short for Requests for Adminship and is the process through which established editors can request, or be nominated, to be considered for a position as an administrator. Once a request has been filed, other editors review the nominee's contributions and history of involvement on the encyclopedia and hold a vote to determine the outcome of the request. As with everything on Wikipedia, it's not actually a vote, but a way of judging the community's consensus about the qualifications of the nominee. Because of that, nominees generally need at least 70% of the vote in order for their RfA to be successful and they be granted admin powers (also known as being "given the mop"). However, some RfA's have been accepted with lower support ratios, and some have been declined for higher ones. The best way to find out for yourself, I think would be to go to the nominations page at WP:RFA and participate in some of the discussions. It's often good for these discussions to have comments from people who don't really know the candidate, as that shows a wider range of opinions from around the community.
- By the way, here's a quick hint - usually when you see an editor refer to something with a acronym like RFA, COI, or POINT, they're actually referring to a specific process or policy by its shortcut, a redirect that allows us to make links to those policies faster without having to type out the whole name - which in the case of pages such as Wikipedia:No climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spider-Man, can be a great time-saver. To find a page using these shortcuts, just add WP: in front of the acronym and search for it. For example, that gives you WP:RFA (requests for adminship), WP:COI (conflict of interest), and WP:POINT (Don't disrupt Wikipedia to make a point - the actual policy that WP:REICHSTAG parodies).
- Let me know if you have any more questions, I'm always happy to help out. Happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:12, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

User page pictures
[edit]Just a friendly little warning. All those 'Thomas' pictures on your user page are (presumably) 'Free Use'. Well, Free Use images are not allowed on User pages...
Check elsewhere if you don't believe me, but like as not, someone will spot them before long and remove them.
Just trying to give you the chance to get in there first.
(BTW - some editors would also regard the fan fiction on your User page as inappropriate. Just so you know...)
EdJogg (talk) 01:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll remove them all now. The fan-fic will go on my TSW account. --S.C.Ruffeyfan (talk) 19:14, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- If I may say, that's a very sensible move. Better for you to act now rather than find a.n.other-user coming and editing your user page for you!
- EdJogg (talk) 22:18, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Friends?...
[edit]Hello S.C.Ruffeyfan! Have we met before?...
Can I be your friend over here aswell as at TSW?
Also, the sig at TSW... You can use it here too!! Just copy-and-past it into the same place as at TSW!!!

OK Zip. Are you a member of Train Spotting World? BTW what's MRF? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:51, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- Model Railway Forum. Its where lots of youtubers like Clearwaterfan and simierski hang out and show their model railway works. I've even made some N scale models and posted them on the forum. And no I'm not a member of train spotting world as I have no interest (sorry). Driveus (talk) 10:53, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Dude, it's OK about TSW. I might join MRF when I'm older. I'm making a Thomas series called 'The Thomas Adventures'. It has an ep called A Hamburger Too Many which is about TFC going to McDonald's on Sodor and he orders 10000000000000000 burgers from them! Here's a quote:
TFC: Yeah, I'll have a gazillion Big Macs.
WORKER: Weren't you here these past few hours?
TFC: Whatever, JUST GIMME DA BURGAHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

Re: Template for page?
[edit]I can give it a shot. What sort of thing are you looking for? Your userpage seems to be fairly well organized already. Are you looking for a better design in general, or just some way to more easily update those sections, like I have on my awards page and userboxes? Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:24, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
A better design, like a toolbar. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:44, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hm. It'll take some time to get this to work with everything you have, but is something like this what you're looking for?
Wikipedia:KIS/WPKind Wikipedia:KIS/bottom
- If you could, leave a reply on my user talk page, as I'm likely to forget. Finals next week, so things tend to slip through the cracks a bit. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:33, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, it's me, ST3, sorry I forgot to tell you that I live in America so it may be different times in Britain. So how about tomorrow at 5:00 (your time). It's about 11-12 in America at that time. Tell me if you can! Bye! --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 18:02, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Yea sure! --S.C.Ruffeyfan 16:17, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Okay! Let's begin, what do you want to talk about first? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 16:19, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
How about the narration and voices that Pierce Brosnan gives, and the time limit. I heard it's 89 mins! --S.C.Ruffeyfan 16:21, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Sure! Well, here's the reason why's its 89 minutes long. When I walked into the movie, they started it with a preview of Sid the Science Kid, Wordgirl, and then... A FULL EPISODE OF SUSHI PACK AND FIREMAN SAM! My mom was getting angry because my brothers and I really wanted to see TGD, not previews. PB's narration is excellent! He makes the engines voices sound noble! So, what else do you want to discuss? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 16:37, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Which characters appear? Do any old friends have roles or cameos? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 16:39, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
All the engines appear. Duck doesn't, but Terrence and Trevor were in cameos in the "Where's Thomas" song. Dennis, Diesel 10, Sir Handel, and Madge (mostly all narrow gauge) made cameos, except Duke and Smudger. So, what else do you want to talk about? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 16:44, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
How about the songs? Are there new singers? Has the singalong cloud changed? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 16:50, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
All song were good in the movie. Thomas, You're The Leader was the best! No, the same kids sing the songs in the movie, but an unknown artist that sounds like a British rapper does Thomas, You're the Leader. The singalong cloud hasn't changed, but it is not in TYTLA song. So, what else do you want to discuss about? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 16:59, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, what role do the Pack play in it? Do they try and find Thomas? Also, what accent does Stanley have? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 17:01, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Thomas calls the pack to work on Great Waterton (he is the leader of the whole buidling). When Thomas goes missing, Ms. Jenny tells the Pack to help look for Thomas. Stanley doesn't really have a "heavy" accent, but to me, he sounded like a mix of British-Scottish. Anytime else you want to talk about TGD? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 17:09, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Cool, when I recieved pics of TGD from HiT, there was a pic of Jak getting angry with Max/Monty. Does Jack get angry with Max/Monty for a particular reason?--S.C.Ruffeyfan 17:49, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, Jack gets angry because Max and Monty play around/fool around. Anything else you want to discuss about? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 17:44, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Are there any learning bits in it? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 17:49, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
None at all just songs! Anytime else you want to discuss about? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 17:50, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
How about the role Disel 10 has? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:04, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Diesel 10's role to me is a 1/4785738759848958096895806 of a SECOND role! You see him when one of the engines goes to the quarry to tell the diesels Thomas has been found. He's in the corner! I can only discuss one more thing because my computer will be wasting electricty, I'm very sorry :(. One more thing and then maybe we can discuss more tomorrow same time if that's okay with you! Thanks for understanding. --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 18:08, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
OK, how about Rosie? Does she have a role? Thanx, --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:18, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Rosie was in for a brief moment. I have to go now, can you write back if 5:00 (11-12 in America) is good to discuss more tommorrow? Thanks a bunch! --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 18:21, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Yea its good thanx, c u tomorrow --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:24, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Scruffey, I have time know. Are you okay to discuss more know? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 19:42, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
I don't know. I'm gonna have my lunch soon and then I'm going to get my school uniform. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 13:12, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Okay! I'll wait for 5 (your time)! --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 13:54, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Ready to discuss some more? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 15:34, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Yep. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 16:57, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Okay-dokey! What do you want to discuss about TGD? --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 17:01, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
How about the new engine roll call? What are the lyrics? Or is it TYTL? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 17:24, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Stanley was added in it and Edward's line in the song was changed to, "Edward toots, and Henry puffs." What else do you want to discuss about, friend?--StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 17:29, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
How about why Stanley is at Brendham Docks? ––S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:27, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
The engines and STH meet him there. --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 18:35, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Cool. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:37, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Any more topics you want to discuss about TGD, and I put you on my friends list! Is that okay? Thanks. --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 18:40, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
It's OK. And there's nothing much else to talk about TGD. Also was there a S12 preview? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:49, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. No, there isn't any S12 preview, but in my words, you now can tell the new style of the series. Oh, tomorrow same time, can we have an Indiana Jones discussion (movies, toys, etc.) That would be nice. Thanks! --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 19:05, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm not a fan of IJ, only my brother is, but he's at a camp, so OK. S.C.Ruffeyfan 19:09, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
That's alright, can we discuss about "Wikipedia and Stuff We Like Tomorrow" but about 15 mintues earlier? Thanks. --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 19:13, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

AYT? :) --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 16:40, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Sorry for being late. Here's mine:
Super Mario
I got my first Mario game with my Gamecube in Christmas 2003/4. It was Super Mario Sunshine. I played on it straight away and was actually rather stuck on it. I thought we swam to Delfino Plaza and climbed a cliff, when we had to battle this lava monster. (Soon to become the Chocolate Monster!) So, in about mid 2005, my brother and I set to work and defeated it! We then had to do more, but we progressed fluently. I was soon on Wikipedia, and I was looking at Mario games. Then, I saw an 'Upcoming releases' section. I clicked on it. There was a list of future Mario games... all which were for the Wii. I was heartbroken at seeing Mario games for the Wii. I did not have one. But this year, when it was my brothers birthday, he got a Wii. I was relieved, having now to play the rest of the Mario games... until there's a new console of course! --S.C.Ruffeyfan 17:45, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Cool, here's my story:
Indiana Jones
I first become an Indy fan when I heard of this year's Crystal Skull. My mom bought me an Indy shirt but I really wanted a Speed Racer shirt. So for a few days, I started searching "Indiana Jones" in the computer and that's what happened. My inners went crazy and from that couple of days on, I became a true Indy fan!
Now, you can discuss some more, bud! --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 18:13, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Alright.
Thomas and Friends
I became a TTTE fan when I was a baby. It was my first Christmas. Among the presents I got, there was a video. That video was Thomas' Train and 17 other stories. I watched it and it was love at first sight! I then got a few more videos. (I had to sell some of them because my dad wouldn't go to work.) And now, I have about 38 TTTE vids! Long live Thomas! ––S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:31, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Cool. Here's my story of how I became a Thomas fan!
My nana bought me a Thomas bathtub book for me when I was 1. It, too for me, was love at first sight! I have over 20 Thomas vhs and 10 DVDs.
Now, you can tell me something else. --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 18:40, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Sonic the Hedgehog
I was eight years old when my friend and I were at a childcare centre. there was a PS2. He had bought his Sonic Heroes game with him and soon we were playing like mad. I grew attached to Sonic and I have most of his games. SONIC ROCS! S.C.Ruffeyfan 19:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
BTW, have you seen my infobox? S.C.Ruffeyfan 19:04, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Cool story... AND COOL MII, Scruffey! I just got a Nintendo Wii last month and my Mii is so cool. I wonder how I can get it on Wikipedia like you did. --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 19:10, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
You take a pic of it off the TV then click on upload file on here. Then follow the instructions and it's there. :)
Pingu
I rented a vid of Pingu from my library and I really liked it. I then saw some of the new series by HiT. It was cute, but rather boring. Last night, I was researching it, and it seems that HiT have ended it now. However, Pingu will always have a place in my heart. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 19:18, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Cool. Can we discuss more on Aug. 7th, same time? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk • contribs) 19:22, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
OK. But, in the afternoon. I'm going trampolining at 9:30 --S.C.Ruffeyfan 19:27, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
OK. See you in two days. --StanleyTHOMAS3 (talk) 19:36, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Nickelodeon Newsletter - September 2008
[edit]
Nicktropolis a GA candidate The article Nicktropolis is currently a GA candidate. It was nominated on August 14, 2008, and, as of press, is still pending a review. You can review the article, just be neutral when you do. Here's the important links: |
New look You may have noticed some changes around the home page (and the newsletter). WP:NICK is getting a face lift, and so are most aspects of it. Jonathan and Macy are working on this so far, but we'd love your help! If our code has an issue, or you think a new bit of code will make it look better, feel free to work with it! |
Collaboration of the Month Our next collaboration depends on the pending GA review of Nicktropolis.
|
Archives We made a new page just so we can archive these newsletters. Go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Nickelodeon/Newsletter. I felt that was a bit lengthy, so I made a shortcut just for it. It's WP:NICK/NEWS. I created that so, if our delivery boy fails, you can still access the newsletter. |
Editor's note on the hiatus The newsletter went on hiatus for around 3 months because I took a wikibreak to get away from all the drama on Wikipedia. Let me tell you, though: I'm back, and I feel better than ever. So don't expect me to put the newsletter on hiatus for a long while. |
Kudos
Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
[edit]Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

The Sega Project Newsletter: Issue 4
[edit]Wikipedia:WikiProject Sega/Newsletter/Issue4
New homepage! We've redesigned the home page for (hopefully) the last time for a while. If you don't like the new design, the old page is archived here. To match the new design, the newsletter's format has also been redesigned. I hope you like it!
As the member list seems to have gone basically stale, I have removed all members from the list and moved the member list to a page that is transcluded onto the home page. Please DO NOT add your name to the homepage! Thanks! |
Sorry this issue is a bit late... Personal obligations have overtaken my Wikipedia time, and I haven't exactly had time to send out this issue. November's issue is coming soon. I promise. :-)
Every month, I choose an article that I think needs help, or is just plain interesting. This month's article is Nickelodeon Magazine. Nickelodeon Magazine's article needs help. There are no sources. I know, for this page, it's practically impossible to get it to a FA, but let's imagine we're trying to get it to FA status. That will be a motive for us to add sources, improve the writing, etc. Let's work on this article for the wellness of it! </pep talk>

Proposed deletion of Theodore Tugboat (character)
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Theodore Tugboat (character), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Dear WikiProject Video games member,
You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or User WPVG somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.
The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.
All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:
- Editing video game-related pages in the Article namespace
- Participating in video game-related discussions in the Project namespace (WT:VG, WP:AfD, WP:GAN, etc.)
Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.
Hello S.C.Ruffeyfan, it's been a while huh? You might remember adding your interest to work as part of the Cartoon Network Wikiproject here, since you did this there has been very little activity with few to none of the members participating or have been idle for some time and as such may be mothballing the Wikiproject as inactive. I'm going over the list for WP:TOON and need to know if you wish to still be a member. I know you mightn't have edited in some time (at least through this account) but I'll wait until 5th January 2010 to see whether or not you still wish to be a part of this or not. If you don't respond to this notice specifically by mentioning it at WT:TOON (not my talkpage or here, I won't be watchlisting talkpages) or removing your name from the list I'll assume you are no longer interested and will remove your name. Hope you decide to work here again. treelo radda 18:17, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Dear S.C.Ruffeyfan,
You are receiving this message because either or User WPVG
is somewhere in your userspace, and you are currently listed in the "Unknown" section on the project's member list.
The member list is meant to provide a clearer picture of active membership. It is recommended that you update your status if you plan to regularly:
- Edit video game-related pages in the Article namespace
- Participate in video game-related discussions in the Project namespace (WT:VG, WP:AfD, WP:GAN, etc.)
Members listed in the "Unknown" section will be removed from the membership list and category at the end of January 2010. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.
