David McArdle
[edit]So can i create the page on David McArdle? Please reply!
johnpaul20082009(Johnpaul20082009 (talk) 14:52, 28 May 2009 (UTC))
- Per Wikipedia guidlines, you are not supposed to create articles about people who are not notable or yourself. If you can cite verifiable, non-biased third party references to why David is a notable person, then it probably stands a better chance of lasting. You would be best off to see what Wikipedia is not.
PROD
[edit]Don't forget to inform the article creator when placing PROD tags, as called for in the instructions. I see you did so in one case but not another. Will Beback talk 21:30, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

Re: Question
[edit]Sorry for the late response. About your recent work, I find it fine, I think you´re doing things right, you have been focusing on warnings. Also, I will be more concentrated in my adoptees, now that I´m not so busy.
P.s. Do you want me to install a shoutbox for you? You can find one in my talk page, it´s a useful tool that helps in several things like avoiding overflooding in talk pages (so someone doesnt need to create archives too quickly), ease of cooperation, etc... (you can read the instructions). - Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._Ξ_ . -- 15:10, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- I would appreciate it if you would install that shoutbox, and if you would direct me to the instructions. I know that the community works to improve articles (and I should probably write my own...) but is concentrating on copyediting and newpage patrolling and the like just as fine. I'm just still trying to understand it all as I'm diving into the depths of WP. Thanks! Ryanthewebguy (talk) 18:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
- OK. I have successfully installed your new shoutbox. I hope you make good use of it... Here´s your istructions booklet:
Owner´s manual |
---|
1. Introduction
The shoutbox is a useful tool where smaller comments are posted. Examples are, "thanks for .....", "are you online?", "nice edit", "I´ve finished the ......", etc. It can also be used as a semi-instant messaging box where conversations can be held. These are some advantages of using a shoutbox:
The shoutbox is intended to be in the talk page, so the user gets inmediate notification of a new message. My intentions in creating this chat-tool are to help in wikipedia´s improvement and enhancement, not to be confused with a WP:NOT violation. The idea of using a shoutbox in talk pages was originally mine (I don´t know of other user who had the same idea as me previously), however, it was inspired by: ♥Soccer5525♥Talk To Me! (so I´m giving his/her corresponding credits) |
2. Use & maintenance
To place a new comment in the shoutbox, a text in the bottom says "Please make comments at the top. Click here to shout" and it redirects to the edit section of the page. The shoutbox is a fixed object that must be in the first (on top) part of the edit section (the source code) so a user can see an arrow which leads him where to place the comment. The reply is suposed to be in the respective shoutbox of the other wikipedian. You can change the position in where the shoutbox is placed; in the picture, you can see a line highlighted, that is the code for the positioning stuff. The number "20px" means that the object will separate 20 pixels from the right margins (and 50 pixels (px) from the top margins). The proper separation varies in each user talk page. You can also change the word "right" for "left" and "top" for "bottom" and the code will work accordingly. The code highlighted in the left means that the position from margins will be taken as of the page and not the screen. For example: if you change the word "absolute" for "fixed", the position will be separated from the screen margins (which are not the same). In consequence, the object (in this case, the shoutbox) will stick to the screen, no matter if you scroll down the page. Also, in the section marked below, if you change the word "collapsible" for "collapsible collapsed", with this you can make the shoutbox to stay collapsed all the time by default (untill you press the button "show"), keeping the shoutbox even more compact. Periodically you must manually clean (delete) the past comments, so the shoutbox is kept clean. |
3. Technical support
Feel free to send me a message to fix something, answer a question or help in some way. - Damërung ...ÏìíÏ..._Ξ_ . -- 17:40, 13 June 2009 (UTC) |
Tommi Uschanov
[edit]I'm not losing anything if you like to delete the article. It's you - and the society. He's rising celeb here in Finland. It's just a matter of time when he does his breakthrough - when he becomes a legend. And when someone else notes to expand the article. I only began it. So i prompt to consider that once again before doing that mistake. Aaaatu (talk) 09:30, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Aaaatu, I am sorry that you feel that way for your article being proposed for deletion. But part of the nomination is that you can contest it. If you want to, you can feel free to remove the prod tag from the article. At that point, if another editor feels that it merits deletion, it will go to the community in articles for deletion and the community will decide its fate. But honestly, my recommendation to you is that you would just establish notability or prove notability. Unfortunately, just having a book published does not show notability. Wikipedia requires verifiable third-party sources. To get an idea, check out these criteria for including a living person or an author in Wikipedia. I am definitely willing to help out, just let me know what I can do. Ryanthewebguy (talk) 14:47, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
List of places articles
[edit]Take a look at the following lists that are very common on Wikipedia. They include list of all places within a city/town that are historical as well as prominent.
- List of places in Scotland - see the relevant articles.
- List of places in Singapore
- List of places in Afghanistan
- List of tourist attractions in Delhi
- List of attractions in Oxford
Maybe we could change it to List of tourist attractions in Faisalabad? What do you think? --Fast track (talk) 22:44, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think it'll be fine. I didn't realize what else was around. Just realize that other editors may decide to put it up for deletion. My advice would be to get as many of those red filled in as soon as you can. I'm sure that WikiProject India would love to help! Happy Editing! Ryanthewebguy (talk) 00:46, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- LOL! I think you mean WikiProject Pakistan - Faisalabad is part of Pakistan. Not India. Thanks. :) --Fast track (talk) 00:49, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- Wow, don't I look like a moron. But... yeah. And I know that I'm not telling you anything you don't already know... I still feel pretty new at this and am working to truly get my hands dirty and get in to WP. Thanks for the correction. Lemme know if there is anything I can ever do to help out! Ryanthewebguy (talk) 00:54, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- Oh well, it doesnt matter. It can happen to all of us. Its how we learn. Yeh there is alot to get yourself into. Since ur from the US. Im sure you have alot of info you could probably add to your local city/state. Get going with that! Im sure you will find lots to do. Happy Wiki-ing! Take Care. --Fast track (talk) 21:13, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

There hasn't been much activity at WikiProject Missouri or any of its child projects lately, and I saw your name on the list of active participants. If you are willing to jump in again, please consider helping to revive the project:
- Put {{WikiProject Missouri}} on the talk pages of articles involving Missouri. This helps to categorize articles
- Write, cleanup, or expand an article about Missouri
- Source a Biography of a living person living in, born in, or otherwise affiliated with Missouri
- Help spread the word about the project
- Update the project page or the portal
- Watchlist or check the project talk page for updates
- Join one of the child projects:
If you know anyone who might be interested in Missouri (its history, culture, sports, people, places, architecture, etc.), please pass this message along to them! If you are still interested in the project but aren't currently active, please add yourself to the list of inactive participants at the bottom of this list. Thanks!

Mary Hilson
[edit]Hello! Thanks for reviewing the Mary Hilson page. However, I'm not sure the unreferenced tag is entirely appropriate; I think that the "no inline citations" tag would be better. Do you agree? Thanks! NHCLS (talk) 22:27, 19 March 2:014 (UTC)
- Agreed. Thank you for making the change! Ryanthewebguy (talk) 22:32, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
