Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Conflict of interest / paid editing
[edit]Hello and welcome. I noticed that you have self-identified as an employee of Hendricks Automotive Group on your userpage. The following advice is meant to make you aware of certain policies on Wikipedia so that you avoid the problems that I have seen others in your position encounter.
- Wikipedia has a mandatory policy on disclosure of paid editing. While your existing declaration is good, I would recommend using the {{paid}} template on your userpage as a highly visible way to make this declaration.
- Make sure to list every article that you create and/or edit where there is a connection to your employer.
- If an article already exists, do not edit it directly. Instead, request changes on the article talk page with the {{request edit}} template.
- If you are creating a new article, make sure to review the guide Your first article on how to create a draft article for review.
- Review these relevant policies and guidelines:
- Paid-contribution disclosure (mandatory policy)
- Conflict of interest (full guideline)
- Plain and simple conflict of interest guide
- WP:FAQ/Organizations
- Best practices for editors with close associations (essay)
- For publicists publicizing a client's work (essay)
