So I did read a certain comment on a certain users' talk page...
What do you think of this? Could you press edit on the link given in this message, please (the "this", once you get to the page)? Basketball110 02:43, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Did you do as the instructions said (instructions on this page)? Basketball110 02:46, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- At the top of the page, after "User page," and "discussion." Basketball110 02:48, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- <cough, cough> Basketball110 02:54, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Still more... I "archived" a bit. Basketball110 02:57, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Idea: watch the page, so I can delete the link. Basketball110 03:03, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Would you continue watching that page, please? I may need "help" w/ the userbox later. Basketball110 03:08, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes. I have one concern to express there, about something... would you advert your attention there for just a quick second? Basketball110 03:12, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed, it is... do have that (noun, it is)? Basketball110 03:23, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- Move the userbox page? Basketball110 04:46, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'll see what I can do. About the archiving, all inactive discussions 4 days old are automatically archived, but I plan on getting rid of a few here and there soon. Basketball110 05:05, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's unneccessary, but if you still have it in your watchlist, replace it with User:Basketball110/Ageism. I've moved it. It addresses more ageism than maturity. Basketball110 05:08, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Cool. You're 4th in mine, as I said, behind the Triple M's (Milk's Favorite Cookie, Maximillion Pegasus, and Master of Puppets). Basketball110 05:10, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I think, just to remove the personal info, I am going to delete the page, and create another one, with a few changes. Basketball110 05:12, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'll work on that tommorrow. I'm going to bed now, right after I create the other page. Basketball110 05:13, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I did... on both. Well, it'll be at User:Basketball110/Age on Wikipedia. Talk somemore tommorrow. Basketball110 05:15, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- Er, I'm sorry to interrupt, but could you please let this go? I'm not at all ageist; and if it sounded that way, please accept my humblest apologies. I understand if you want the userbox, but the snide references to me are a bit too much. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 16:12, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- No; the userbox is fine; I endorse the userbox. It's just that you seem to... well, before it was edited, there was a reference to me as ageist in there, and I was a bit annoyed by it. Or did you mean something else by putting it there? If so, sorry for interrupting. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 16:34, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

hello
Hi. Removing personal info from a page merely by "editing it out" doesn't really get rid of it— it is still readily visible in the page's hist. You'll need someone with WP:OVERSIGHT ability to actually and truly delete it. BTW, if you wanna be an admin, you really should enable your email. Cheers! Ling.Nut (talk) 03:24, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- To permanently remove your personal info from someone's talk page, see Wikipedia:Requests for oversight. Ling.Nut (talk) 03:29, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Correct me if I'm wrong but enabling your e-mail really shouldn't be an issue in an RfA. Kimu 04:37, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Test
I left a note on your test talk page, and I was wondering if I would be able to take the test. That would be great, you don't have to adopt me, it just would be good to take the test to see how I am traveling. Do you want to discuss anything? Novels, music, books, etc? Thanks man, Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 05:15, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Books are what I know, I am doing my masters in English language, next year I am transfering to Harvard to do my doctorate, I wanted to discuss somewthing that I was comfortable with with someone who I assume knows what they are doing. I could teach writing at your adoption school, unless of course that post is taken, I read your editor review, you seem like a great editor, one who is worthy of respect. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 05:53, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I wouldn't have said it had I not meant it, what about my teaching role, it could be helpful to your school. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 05:53, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- ABout 550 since saturday or sunday when I joined. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 05:56, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
ALright, I'll talk to you in a week, I am not done on that test yet. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 06:08, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Done, you can mark it now, I will wait in trepidation. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 06:12, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism
How can I find vandalism? It seems like there is a fast or easy way to search pages for vandalism since people can get so many edits. I want to start getting a bunch of edits under my belt :-D
And about the signature, I'm not sure what I want it to look like right now, I'm mainly just wondering =P Axecution (talk) 07:24, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Why don't I just start a new section?
Yes, it has. It's been replaced with User:Basketball110/Age on Wikipedia. Basketball110 16:44, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Click on history, and you'll see that it's only one edit. Basketball110 16:45, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

RE: Adoption
I do appreciate the idea to help new users, in adopting them for example. It's just that I think that you are not ready for that yet. But you're not a newcomer anymore and I haven't bite you, you have asked for people to comment, remember ? I think that you take it the wrong way, if I said what I said, it was because I think that it could help. I think too that they are things going on that, maybe, are not that useful for the project. But it's just my opinion, I don't want to bother you with that. I would appreciate however, that you take the advices of other people and try to edit with more consideration, and particularly, verify the assertions in your comments. Notability of Super smash bros mojo has been hacked
The article Super smash bros mojo has been hacked has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. J Milburn (talk) 17:56, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry, that's the the software I'm using. J Milburn (talk) 18:00, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, which means you created the redirect, which is why NPW contacted you. I wouldn't bother moving that sort of rubbish in future- just tag it as needing speedy deletion and let it die. J Milburn (talk) 18:05, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Hello again- I removed your speedy notice from this article because fictional characters are not speediable under A7. I've prodded it instead. J Milburn (talk) 18:14, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Our Cabals
Wow! That whole thing with the cabals really happened overnight. Glad to hear they're still around, and that people still support them and understand they have a purpose. In a way, I'm kind of glad that happened because now we have proof that they can't be deleted. Take Care :) - DiligentTerrier (and friends) 18:29, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

No bots
I actually am unfamiliar with that. What system do you plan on running your bot with (AWB, pywikipedia, etc.)? jj137 (talk) 18:53, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- AWB is probably easier, but pywikipedia is fine as well. Both systems will automatically ignore pages with {{nobots}}; it would be easier to have an opt-out list for each WikiProject, and you can manually remove those names from the list. jj137 (talk) 19:02, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- I guess you could put the template on each user's talk page, but I don't know if they would want you doing that. I'll take a look at your adoption program. jj137 (talk) 19:06, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Adding Muhammad Hussain as disambiguation page
Bro, I was not experimenting with wikipedia. I know how to edit wikipedia. I was actually making article of Muhammad Hussain as a disambiguation page, which may mean any of these persons: Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed, Muhammad Hussain Najafi & Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah. Please have patience and let me do that again. Syed.Nedian (talk) 21:35, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you bro. In fact, I am not a new user and was awarded a barnstar for my contribution to wikipedia. I was previously using the account Fayyazabbas (talk) but could not know how to change the account title, so created a new account. Any help in this regard would be appreciated Syed.Nedian (talk) 21:44, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
And what exactly did I do wrong?
Hi there.
I dont appreciate you reverting my edits to MY page.
If I want to tell people I am going to be away for a while, I can.
Unless it's vandalism, it DOESNT need reverting.

Reverting
Yes, a reversion to an article would count as a mainspace edit. I think it would be a good idea to stress to your students that at RFA, editcounts seem to be even less an issue than they were when I was made an admin, and I think that's a good trend. QUALITY of edits counts, not quantity. Good question. - Philippe | Talk 21:49, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Teaching
I think it's a good idea to have several folks involved with the program. My preference would be no tests at all, since I think they're not really useful to gauge understanding of wiki, but that's your call totally, and I'm not going to enforce my preference on you as though it were policy. I appreciate your offer to have me take a formal role with your program. I hope you'll understand that I can't accept right now, because my on-wiki time is pretty well taken up by admin'ing, WP:OTRS and as an election official for the 2008 Board of Trustees election. (And, frankly, I'm doing a poor job of keeping up with OTRS while the election is being prepared).
What I'd like to do, though, is to informally advise you as I see things. That could be rarely, or more often. Basically, my preference is to keep the ability to stick my nose in when something interests me, without any determined role. That's better for my time constraints right now.
I think you're moving things in the right direction, and that's to be commended. You've taken some hard knocks the past few days (some of them by me) and it's admirable that you're taking seriously the feedback that people are giving you. - Philippe | Talk 01:59, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I notice that you have a "secret page" message at the top. I've seen those in a few places, and I haven't been able to work out what the point is. Maybe you can help me. Why is this supposed to be challenging? Bovlb (talk) 03:40, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- But I don't need to find the hidden link. You only have 52 user sub-pages. It doesn't take long to scan the list and find the one with the wacky name. Is this cheating? Bovlb (talk) 03:50, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Daunting!
Greetings.
I'm new to this, a fact you've heard before. Please adopt me! Are you really sitting there in real time doing this Or is it all programmed?
Here are my adoption papers: physician, male, in practice for 35 years. Tri-lingual: Amer Eng, Spanish, and Japanese. Wife: also physician, bi-lingual: Amer Eng and Japanese. She is Japanese and translates, for company in Tokyo, medical, research, legal papers, and news briefs pertaining to medical events. I also paint and sculpt as a second (sanity) business, play piano and have played organ, string bass, baritone horn.
Was looking up CVT (bought wife new Rogue and she bought me new Altima). Both cars have same engine and transmission (CVT). While refreshing my memory about how CVT worked, I read some Japanesey English and thought "I could do improve the syntax on that entry!"
So that's how I came to set up an account.
I can spend some time doing this on an irregular basis. Wikipedia has really helped me explain or reference things about medicine to patients and parents, so I'd like to contribute.
May I have your answer? Either here or at my e-mail address. pinot_chan0730@yahoo.com . . . BTW, my website for art is normank.myexpose.com.
Kind regards, --BudgieBirdChan0211 (talk) 05:04, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Congrats
Congrats on the 4000th edit. :-)
Actually, i was just about to leave a comment for you about the cabals. While I hope you saw that I !voted to "keep" them at MFD, I have to say that I have concerns about exclusionary groups. I'm not fond of - nor is it very wiki - to have groups where people can and can't join. The community seems to see them as disenfranchising, or divisive. A recent example of that is the WP:ROUGE fiasco. "Cabals" can be fun, but they absolutely must not be used is a way that excludes people because they don't have enough votes or something similar. That needs to stop immediately. I'm sure you can see how that's very anti-wiki in its steering.
Have a great vacation, and thanks for all the hard work. - Philippe 00:40, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- With the cabals, I'm concerned about any type of "membership application" or vote. I'm particularly worried that I've seen some instances where you've told folks they needed more votes before they were "in" - or at least that's how it looks from the outside. As to 444's comment, I left a note on his talk page about that. Barnstars are intended to be UN-solicited, and freely awarded for exceptional work. For instance, if you'll note on my own userpage - I don't have a ton of them, but I'm proud of the ones I have because they were awarded without solicitation by members of the community that I trust who liked the work I'm doing. Generally, the community takes a dim view of soliciting barnstars. - Philippe 00:49, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Short history of nearly everything
Can you explain to me how the edit I made was vandalism? I'm trying to start a discussion about this particular section of this article and its worth, which is being debated right now. I have some questions: 1. How did you edit the article back so quickly? 2. How did you find out about it? 3. Why did you edit the article back? What about the chnage did you find offensive, 4. When you reverted it back so quickly, did you look at the discussion page first? 5. Are errors sections about books to be included in articles? Some of the errors include spelling mistakes. 6. If a section of a wikipedia article is in dispute, what happens to the article in the mean time?
I look forward to discussing this with you on the article talk page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.5.63.22 (talk) 07:48, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

I joined Wikipedians against censorship
Hiyo there. At the end, I did join a wikiproject, even if I wasn't planning to do so. It's Wikipedia:WikiProject_Wikipedians_against_censorship, and I just remembered right now that I had joined it because I had their page on my watchlist (lol). They are a low traffic project, and they touch a topic of my interest, since I find interesing to defend stuff that is going to be deleted from wikipedia just because someone is offended by it. I hope you are also satisfied with the wikiprojects you joined. I see that you got a ton of members for the RedSox wikproject, now you have to get them to do stuff. Let's see how many of them drop once they notice they joined too many wikiprojects and can't possibly help on all of them :D --Enric Naval (talk) 15:13, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, man, but your program has too many problems and I had to vote "delete". You know, "those that love you will hurt you for your good". Adoption program
I would like to ask you to shut down your adoption program, regardless of the outcome of the MFD. I appreciate that you're trying to help, but many editors are concerned that you're actually doing more harm than good. You are a very inexperienced editor yourself, but you're trying to pass yourself off as an experienced editor. I also see you've given people questionable advice here and there. Anyway, by all means, keep contributing and learning what we do here. I just don't think you're in a good position to be trying to train new editors, being a new editor yourself. Friday (talk) 14:09, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Rollback
Hi, I noticed this edit. You used rollback inappropriately here. You were reverting an editor who removed the template in good faith and explained his edit, and you reverted with no explanation at all. Rollback is really only meant for obviously unconstructive edits like vandalism. See Wikipedia:Rollback. Anyway, I have removed rollback permission from your account. If you want it back, I encourage you to ask for it again sometime in the future, after you've learned more. Friday (talk) 14:15, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
While I mentioned only the one, a glance at your contributions indicated you'd been misusing rollback frequently, starting right when you got it. I don't doubt your good intentions but I cannot understand why you think you have lots of experience when you're so obviously new. That you should simply ask for it back immediately concerns me. Do you understand what it's for and how it's given out? Or are you just looking for a feather to put in your cap? Friday (talk) 16:20, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

- You've missed alot. All the cabals got deleted, and a a new wiki especially for cabals got created. Nothing444 01:06, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Courtesy notice
As you were apparently on vacation while this happened, here's a courtesy notice to inform you of some actions I have taken.
- I have deleted all the "cabals" you were involved in. Debate is at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents/Great Cabal Debate.
- There is now an RfC on the issue, located at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Cabals.
Thanks, Keilana|Parlez ici 01:08, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
You're back...
Well, have you heard about the recent happenings (the template nomination for deletion and probable Adoption Program nomination for deletion, the cabals deletion, the "Great Cabal Debate," among others)? Basketball110 Talk 01:16, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- I removed myself from the teacher list due to a point brought up at the template deletion: they're your adoptees, not mine. Basketball110 Talk 01:32, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Rollback
I'm sorry, I can't give you rollback - see the reason it was removed. jj137 (talk) 01:58, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've denied you rollback per my summary there. Keilana|Parlez ici 02:08, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Friday had an obviously good reason to remove your rollback, I'm just not comfortable with returning it after so short a period. Keilana|Parlez ici 02:15, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- No, I'm not annoyed at all. Would you like to seek a third opinion at WP:AN/I? Keilana|Parlez ici 02:22, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Your rollback request
Hi! I regret that I must inform you that your request for the rollback permission has been denied. You can discover why by checking the archives at Wikipedia:Requests for rollback/Denied/April 2008#RyRy5. RFRBot (talk) 02:30, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Not a problem. -- Hawaiian717 (talk) 04:51, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- I don't feel I'm in a position one way or the other. Personally, I don't really see the point of rollback; undo seems to work just fine; though I also have Wikipedia:Popups installed in my account and I still use that occasionally. -- Hawaiian717 (talk) 05:21, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Bot
When are you going to get your bot runnning? I've already filed a request for newsletter delivery. Nothing444 13:08, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Re:Sorry
Ok, I understand. I wasn't trying to make them "mine". I was just trying to be helpful. Anyway, that lesson was just my view of it. I should have considered other's views. Sorry. No, there isn't any hard feelings.-- Barkjon 13:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Tools
Hey, I'm not sure what these tools are you're trying to install.. but I think you should focus more on actual personal communication and less on automation. I hope you're not looking for other tools to give you rollback-like functionality, when your actual rollback permission was just removed. Try doing whatever you're wanting to do personally, by hand, to get a feel for it before you reach for some automated tool that lets you do things faster. Friday (talk) 16:59, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Sig Idea
You might want to take the question mark off your sig. P.S. How do you create a bot; I would love to operate one myself. Nothing444 21:29, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- There was a time when I was a newcomer, and I randomly created new wikiprojects that didn't belong in the namespace. Now, I know better and to gain back my trust I want to create a bot that moves pages into userspace that don't belong in proper namespace. Nothing444 21:35, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Who did you ask to help you wit your bot, may be he/she can help me with mine. Nothing444 23:01, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Did you ever notice that Oreo always has his status on offline? Even when he edits, his status his offline. Nothing444 23:04, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Do you think its because of me? Nothing444 23:07, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, one day I asked oreo if I could ave the same logo, but with a cutlass, 'cause a cutlass stands out more than a fencing sword. He said e'd have it by the weekend, but he didn't, and I asked him along with a long island newsletter sending "p.s. I don't want to bother you, but is my logo done?" I probably asked him two or three times already. But you know what, I've grown to like this logo I have now. Nothing444 23:12, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Please adopt me, the guy i have is not doing any thing
The title says it. Thanks Tajtheman (talk) 23:33, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Uh, I've already adopted him. Taj, I'll teach you. Trust me. I already did some. -- Barkjon 01:43, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
RE: Ya, I know that you can have more than one adoptee. I do. I understand. But why? I haven't given my other adoptee tips in AGES (I'm gonna, though). Ah, so what.-- Barkjon 01:50, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
RE 2: Ok. I didn't know someone could have more than one adopter.-- Barkjon 01:55, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- /me is really really thinking that some folks don't "get it" on the adoption thing, so I'm going to spell it out clearly. Stop. Now. The community would far rather that you work on articles. There are grave concerns about people adopting who clearly aren't experienced enough. We love your enthusiasm, but want it to be directed at articles. For the love of God, we just went through a 5 day discussion about deleting adoption pages. - Philippe 01:58, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
RE 3: I'd like to just adopt him if thats ok with you. Anyway, you have lots of adoptees to take care of. No offense.-- Barkjon 01:58, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- <sigh>. RyRy, I think the mature thing to do would be to refer Taj to the adoption program. I don't think you're ready to adopt. I think that came through clearly in the community's discussion. I'm afraid that folks are nearing the point where you'll be subject to an RFC if you pick up any more adoptees. - Philippe 02:21, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
