- Also like "Binh Pho" woodturner and "Andy Warhol" commercial artist. Ron Fleming has many more awards and notoriety but wasn't as publicized. Rwfleming1 (talk) 23:20, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

- Hope my new version is better. I could not figure out the note [1] link yet, I will do some research and fix it latter. Do I need to remove links I added for proof? Rwfleming1 (talk) 14:56, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
Userpage
[edit]I'm sorry, but content from your Userpage has been nominated for deletion.
User pages and User talk pages are intended only to promote collegiality among users. They are not to be used as a soapbox for writings not connected with the editorial process on Wikipedia. While we appreciate that you enjoy using Wikipedia, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and
- not a free webhosting service ,
- not a personal website,
- not a memorial or genealogy site
- not a blog
- not a social media site
Nor are user pages intended to host articles, CV's/resumés or lengthy autobiographies. Wikipedia is not a promotional venue or a place to post ads. As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia subjects of articles must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources which are unconnected with the subject and which provide verifiable information. For article creation, Please use WP:AfC and/or request help at the TEAHOUSE. Blue Riband► 01:20, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
- I found "Ron Kent" in Wikipedia and he did not have as much notable works and leadership in the field as "Ron Fleming. I just added all the references to prove that, not that they need to be in the article. How can I change it to get the name "Ron Fleming" added to Wikipedia? If you Google his name you will find a multitude of information. Rwfleming1 (talk) 22:38, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- Have you had time to review the re-write? This page is meant to be an editorial about a person that was a pioneer in the woodturner arts, commercial art, technical illustration, and photography. Wikipedia has allowed Andy Warhol, Binh Pho, Ron Kent, and many others to have editorials on. It did not allow me to contest until Wikipedia deleted it. I had just added links like other editorials, is all that lost now? Okay I totally rewrote it and added back the links. I hope this meets the standards. It doesn't seem any different from Andy Warhol, Binh Pho, Ron Kent, and many others that have editorials on Wikipedia. If not maybe they should be considered for immediate deletion? Contested deletion
[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --Rwfleming1 (talk) 15:10, 7 October 2022 (UTC) I re-wrote it as requested. This page is meant to be an editorial about a person that was a pioneer in the woodturner arts, commercial art, technical illustration, and photography. Wikipedia has allowed Andy Warhol, Binh Pho, Ron Kent, and many others to have editorials on. It did not allow me to contest until you deleted it. - Hello Rwfleming1, you are new to Wikipedia and have not yet had time to learn absorb the intricacies. There are a lot of things going own that take time to learn.
- 1) Userpages are intended to promote collegiality among users and are not intended to host articles, CV's/resumés or lengthy autobiographies. Nor are they intended to host memorials, which is what this appeared to be. I just looked at the re-write and from what you posted there it is an largely unsourced biographical article that would again have to be deleted.
- 2) Wikipedia has a very high bar for anybody to have their own article. As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia subjects of articles must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources which are unconnected with the subject and which provide verifiable information. In a nutshell what counts is what is written about the subject rather than written by them. You did provided a reference list but it's not detailed enough for anybody to find the books or supporting articles to verify that they talk about the artist in detail and not just mention him in passing. Take a look at the articles for the artists that you mentioned above: Andy Warhol, Binh Pho, and Ron Kent. You will see that the references are very detailed with exact websites and URLs, books list authors and publishers, and newspaper and magazines list the writers, dates, and publishers.
- 3) Wikipedia does not host editorials or opinion pieces. Opinion comes in only when there are discussions regarding policies.
- 4) You have a Username similar to the person mentioned on your Userpage. If this person is a relative then you have a clear conflict of interest. This doesn't mean that you intend to do anything wrong. But Wikipedia strongly discourages the writing of autobiographies or bios about anyone in a close relationship as it is difficult to remain neutral and objective.
- 5) As Rom Fleming was born in 1937 he's likely still alive so the article has to meet Biographies of Living Persons standards for verifiability.
- 6) Finally, I hope you didn't copy/paste this from somewhere. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and copied content cannot be used here without a formal release from the copyright holder. Many new editors completely misunderstand the meaning of "fair use". Just because the copied text isn't being used commercially doesn't mean it's OK.
- I've copied your content to a draft article: Draft:Ron Fleming so that you can work on it. (I've also blanked your Userpage of that content.) You can get more help at WP:AfC and/or request it at the TEAHOUSE.
- Since you want to do a biography it is important to establish with the first two sentences why Ron Fleming meets Notability guidelines. Start off with a brief paragraph to describe his work and make sure what you say about him is supported by inline-citations from reliable sources. From there can you build it up to a full biography. Blue Riband► 21:11, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you. I guess I misunderstood you. I'll rewrite the and put all of the old reference links back in and see about having someone else write it. RWF 21:35, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- I've started it out by writing the introduction. Per WP:ARTIST he meets the notability threshold by his works being in the permanent collections of major museums. Blue Riband► 14:17, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thank You RWF 22:40, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Looks like you are making good progress. The promotional tone however needs to be dialed back as Wikipedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view.
- When you are ready to move it to main space: go to Search box and type in "Ron Fleming". You will see a return: "The page "Ron Fleming" does not exist. You can create a draft and submit it for review, or you may create the page "Ron Fleming" directly..." You can then copy/paste the source code from the Draft:Ron Fleming. (That way the page creator for this article will be you, and not me.)
- I'd recommend adding these categories:
- Category:1937 births
- Category:2021 deaths
- Category:Woodturners
- Category:Artists from Tulsa, Oklahoma
- You can look at the source code in the articles for other artists to see how these are added. Blue Riband► 15:48, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you, I will. RWF 15:32, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
- I turned Ron Fleming over to randybirdhawk, can you review and look at the progress? RandyBirdHawk 16:20, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
