[edit]You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.
Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".
If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page.
You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.
Thank you. Red Phoenix talk 23:22, 2 May 2022 (UTC)- Hello Red Phoenix,
- I'm requesting my username be unblocked. It was initially MTI Global and, when I received your block message, I changed it to Rusty at MTI Global which, according to your own notes, is perfectly valid as a username.
- "Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA"
- I have submitted the name change and it went through fine.
- Please let me know the status on the unblocking as soon as possible.
- Thank you,

- I have unblocked you. For future reference, to get the attention of other users, you usually need to "ping" them by adding a link to their userpage – since you're using the reply tool, you can do that by clicking on the little silhouette with a plus symbol next to it. - @Sdrqaz Thank you for unblocking me and explaining how to ping other users. I appreciate it very much. Rusty at MTI Global (talk) 13:42, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- That worked perfectly. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask either here (pinging me), on my talk page, or at the TeaHouse. Welcome back. Sdrqaz (talk) 13:49, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Sdrqaz Thank you for your help back in June. I have questions about properly adding references and external links for an article I'm working on in my sandbox.
- I added the official website as the only external link. Is that the best approach? I could add other links to more detailed information than is in the article, but maybe those are better done as references?
- What is the definition of what should be an external link vs a reference vs citation? Thanks Rusty at MTI Global (talk) 15:17, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Sdrqaz I hope all is well. Thank you for your help in the past. I've finished a new page and wanted to see if you would be willing to review it and provide me feedback. Are you able to access my Sandbox or do I need to publish it somewhere else for you to read it? Thanks Rusty at MTI Global (talk) 17:20, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
