If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aleta St. James, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Writ Keeper 15:10, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

Wikipedia is so keen to encourage new editors to come and start that it does not do as good a job as it might of explaining what it is not. In two words: not Myspace. That is to say, not a place for people and organizations to write about themselves or post copies of their self-promotional material. I have this conversation so often that I have written User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard to save having to write out the same explanation again and again.

So many people see Wikipedia as a free advertising site, or (as they would put it) a place to tell the world about themselves/their bands/their clients/their companies, that it has become extremely resistant to anything that looks like promotion. WP:Neutral point of view is a fundamental policy.

If you want to write an article about Aleta St. James, I suggest you make a draft in your userspace. To do that, go to Help:Userspace draft and fill in the title: that will set up a draft page where you can work on an article without the risk of premature deletion, with a "Submit" button to send the completed article to WP:Articles for creation, where an experienced user will look at it and either accept it or give you feedback.

First, read:

If you are employed by or connected with Ms St. James, read

Then collect your sources. Focus on independent comment about her, not her own website or anything put out by her agent or publisher or based on press releases. Just being the oldest person to have twins is probably not enough - see WP:BLP1E - unless she is otherwise notable. Think hard about notability; people often waste a lot of time and effort trying to make something appear notable which is not. Read WP:42.

Write in your own words. Don't copy material from her website or anywhere else: (a) it will be deleted unless a formal copyright release is made, and (b) it will almost certainly be unsuitable in tone. Keep it drily factual - not about her aims, her spiritual quest etc, but about what she has actually done.

When writing, remember WP:Verifiability: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source".
