File source problem with File:1849 Post Office Directory Harby.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:1849 Post Office Directory Harby.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:33, 12 November 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 05:33, 12 November 2009 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:POST OFFICE sign.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:POST OFFICE sign.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 23:12, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Taylor, Law & Co. ("Tala")
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Taylor, Law & Co. ("Tala") requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — further, Francophonie&Androphilie sayeth naught (Je vous invite à me parler) 14:36, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- In response to the question you asked at Talk:Taylor, Law & Co. ("Tala"), your article was deleted because it was not felt to meet Wikipedia's general notability guidelines. You may want to read these guidelines before contributing another page, or re-contributing this article. If you read those guidelines, and feel that your article met them, you can make your case for this either here (at your talk page) or at my talk page. Please do not re-create the talk page for the "Tala" article, as Wikipedia policy states that, in almost all cases, the talk page of a non-existent article must be deleted. — further, Francophonie&Androphilie sayeth naught (Je vous invite à me parler) 16:40, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- If you'd like to re-create this article, going into greater depth than in the previous version (as you imply you'd like to), you may want to draft it in your userspace (at User:Ruddingtonsmith or User:Ruddingtonsmith/Sandbox) before submitting it for creation. Once you submit your article, however, you're required to follow our notability guidelines. You may also want to check out our advice on creating your first article and our article wizard. Please can someone help me put back the link under the section Harby - Parish Church - Organ
https://www.npor.org.uk/NPORView.html?RI=K01581 National Pipe Organ Register listing for Harby
Several weeks ago it was altered and was not visible from the read page and then was removed altogether.
Please can you put it back it is vital that the link is there for that information. Please can you check that it is visible to the public from the read page and the link works!
I am also wondering whether to make the section for the parish church a separate page so that more information on the building can be included. please advise!
- I don't know what edit you are referring to, but Wikipedia is not a link farm.
- To link to another Wikipedia article, simply place the title in double brackets like this:[[Article Title]], the whole web address is not necessary. 331dot (talk) 13:52, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia, sources and Harby, Leicestershire
[edit]Hi
I really appreciate your hard work with the page on Harby, Leicestershire. However, almost almost all the statements there are unsourced. As I am sure you are aware, Wikipedia strives for verifiable accuracy, meaning that all non-obvious statements ideally should have a reliable source. Wikipedia is not a place for original research, synthesis or opinion. To quote from the guideline on verifiability:
All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution.
Attribute all quotations, and any material whose verifiability is challenged or likely to be challenged, to a reliable, published source using an inline citation. The cited source must clearly support the material as presented in the article. Cite the source clearly, ideally giving page number(s) – though sometimes a section, chapter, or other division may be appropriate instead; see Wikipedia:Citing sources for details of how to do this.
I will not be challenging the unsourced information in the article on Harby, because I believe in including information except where it is clearly damaging or of dubious origin, and you do appear to have sources for your claims. Please add them to the article as inline citations! Other editors may not be as lenient as I am, and as it stands I believe an editor would be within his right to remove most of the article for lack of sources. I wish you luck with your continued editing on Wikipedia! Knuthove (talk) 15:49, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments regarding https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Harby,_Leicestershire Parish Church Incumbents The Citation points are a [6][7][8] under incumbents this covers all the documentation within the incumbent's area. However, what I have is an issue whereby I have used information contained within a book about the church or have copied it from the walls of the church how do I credit that? I cannot credit myself as it is against Wikipedia rules Can I credit the building? Please advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruddingtonsmith (talk • contribs) 13:24, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
- If you're using information from a book, use {{cite book}}. If you're using an inscription from a wall of a building, use {{Cite sign}}. If you want more help, change the {{help me-helped}} back into a {{help me}}, stop by the Teahouse, or Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Does anyone know how to alter the width of the columns on the https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Harby,_Leicestershire - Incumbents So that there is better space on column "Position" and less on "Notes" - Thanks in advance
- From a technical standpoint, here is information on how to set the widths of columns. However, making said change is against this section of the manual of style. HouseBlastertalk 18:56, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
What would you suggest to make those sections more readable?
- Personally, I do not see a problem with the current layout. However, this is probably something you should bring up on the article's talk page. HouseBlastertalk 15:01, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

File:The War Memorial Harby, Leicestershire.jpg This is the second time that I have uploaded this image and been told that there is a copyright issue with it. The Image is over 50 years old and is located at https://www.webarchive.org.uk/wayback/archive/20151217163253/http://www.harbyvillage.co.uk/0128.htm The original Photographer is long dead by at least 60years I don't know what more information I can add!! Please Advise — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ruddingtonsmith (talk • contribs) 2021-03-17T12:10:58 (UTC)
- I believe that is not long enough for the picture to enter the public domain. See List of countries' copyright lengths. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 12:20, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
If that is the case how do I put up a photo of that age without clear information of who took the photo its very old? constructive help, please!
- @Ruddingtonsmith: - If the image has not been released (to your knowledge) under a license and is still under copyright, you must gain permission to use the image from the copyright holder. You can try the standard form at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries to attempt to gain that permission (and if successful, tag the image with {{OTRS pending}} when the upload procedure is completed). Alternatively, you can ask the copyright holder to post a notice on the website where the image originated stating that it is released under an appropriate free license (such as these; CC BY-SA 3.0 is simplest, because Wikipedia's text already uses that license). Further Info you can get at Wikipedia:Uploading_images#Determine_copyright_status. CommanderWaterford (talk) 16:45, 17 March 2021 (UTC)
