Although it's understandable that one might want to write an obituary for such a person, Wikipedia is no place for obituaries, and article subjects must meet our notability guidelines. No non-primary sources cited here.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hi there!

I noticed that and article you wrote, Mr Brian Foster, is currently being discussed as to whether it is suitable for Wikipedia. In its current state, it will probably be deleted this Wednesday, November 14, 2012. It can be discouraging, and I understand that, however, it may be helpful for you to understand some of the policy behind it.

Wikipedia has a policy, or actually a guideline (there's a difference), called Notability. When you do research, you want to make sure you are looking at material you can trust is accurate. So, in order to keep our articles correct, we have certain policies and guidelines in place to insure that everything on the encyclopedia can be verified through other reliable, third-party sources. This is where Notability comes into play.

If a subject doesn't have a Wikipedia article, and there is a bunch of stuff in newspapers, the internet, etc. about it, by all means, we encourage you to create an article on that subject! However, if the subject doesn't have coverage in reliable sourcing, then the content can't be verified, and the article is left in a state of uncertainty as to its factual accuracy. So, those article that don't have significant coverage about it, are presumed non-notable, and they are deleted because the Wikipedia community is doubtful that an article can be written that is verified through significant and reliable sourcing.

What you can do to prevent deletion is to prove to the community that such reliable sourcing exists. If you need help with referencing, check out Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners.

One final issue I want to discuss with you, and this is why I came to you in the first place, is about your user page. Wikipedia has a policy regarding the user pages. You may use your user page as a place to provide a little bit about yourself. You can also use it as a development space and testing spot. Currently, your user page holds some content from your article, Mr Brian Foster,. Since it is likely that the article is going to be deleted, your user page may also be held in question because it contains some of the content that may be deleted. You can keep this copy, as long as you keep it where it is and work on it to make it better. If you no longer want to work on this article, I request that you ask an administrator to delete the page by placing {{db-u1}} at the top of your user page. Doing so will prevent further scrutiny on your behalf as you are actually holding content that has been deemed to be non-notable.

Hey Roy, welcome to wikipedia. I thought I'd stop by and say hi, also sorry that your first experience with us was so, shall we say, abrupt? There really are people who are concerned about the processes that have sprung up over the years, as well as the sometimes poor treatment of newcomers.

I'm also very sorry to hear that someone you knew has passed on, and I'm sorry that this encyclopedia really isn't the place for a memorial, or a tribute to a fine man.
