- @Bbb23 seems clear that it's actually Roy but don't want to just reverse without consult. Barkeep49 (talk) 20:46, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49: Kind but unnecessary. I'll let Roy do what he wants with this page. I'm honestly annoyed: (1) for creating an account with a name like this and (2) for calling me "dude".--Bbb23 (talk) 21:09, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- I'm mostly curious how you even noticed it existed? -- RoySmith (talk) 21:19, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- I'll tell you but I'm also curious why you created it. I was bored and went to WP:UAA, a noticeboard I almost never patrol, and the account was listed in the bot section. I assumed it was an LTA, despite the two innocuous edits. I did some research afterward: you've done this before.
- "you've done this before", btw, is a quote from the last episode of Merlin. With all this rambling, don't forget to answer my question.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:12, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- Actually, you started it. MarioGom was asking me for advice on how to handle Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Subhadipchanda and in the conversation it became apparent that neither of us fully understood how the newcomer task thing worked, and then it turned out that neither did most of the people on #wikipedia-en-spi-clerks so I started tinkering. And the rest, as they say, is history. -- RoySmith (talk) 22:24, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. Two questions: (1) did you figure out how it worked? and (2) wouldn't another username have been more, uh, informative of what you were doing?--Bbb23 (talk) 22:28, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- 1) See WP:VPT#Newcomer tags? 2) Had I named the account, "Please don't block me, I'm really RoySmith doing some testing", would you have believed it? -- RoySmith (talk) 23:13, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- There are other options, e.g., "RoySmith-Newcomer Tags testing". Also, you could have created the account and first created a userpage that you signed with your main account. That would have stopped me.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:46, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
