Conflict of interest
[edit]Hi @Rosiehc.
Thank for you for editing Wikipedia. You have disclosed in your edit summary: Got rid of old and incorrect information. I am the Marketing Coordinator for Eugene Pride; feel free to contact me at m********@eugenepride.org. I am also the Pet Zone Coordinator (p******@eugenepride.org) and a member of the Site Team.
As you are presumably being paid as a marketing coordinator, you must immediately declare that you are being paid to edit Wikipedia. You must not make any further edits until you do this. To declare this, please follow the instructions here: Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. Failure to declare is a breach of the Wikimedia Foundation Terms of Use and may result in a loss of editing privileges.
You should also read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and declare that you have a conflict of interest with Eugene Pride, follow the instructions in that link for information how.
Let me know if you have any questions, Qcne (talk) 20:05, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there,
- I am not paid for any of my positions with Eugene Pride. I do not believe there is any conflict of interest.
- Thank you! Rosiehc (talk) 20:07, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for confirming you are not paid.
- However, you do have a conflict of interest as you are connected professionally to Eugene Pride. So please go ahead and make that conflict of interest disclosure (instructions on the above link). Although we discourage editing articles in which you have a conflict of interest, it isn't banned; so having a disclosure just ensures that other volunteers know that you are editing articles in which you have a relationship with and promotes the openness fundamental to Wikipedia.
- As long as you edit within our guidelines and policies (basically, every statement must be backed up by a reliable preferably secondary source; and every statement must be written in a neutral, encyclopaedic tone with no promotional language used) then you should be fine.
- Happy editing. Qcne (talk) 20:15, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi!
- I understand; however, I have read the instructions and am unclear how best to format the necessary Wikipedia coding. Could I have help with that? Rosiehc (talk) 20:21, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- No worries, Wikitext can be a bit daunting! I have added the COI tag to your User Page for you, plus the article talk page. You're all set now.
- If you have any questions, we have a friendly space where experienced editors can help you here: Get help at the Teahouse, or feel free to add a message to my User Talk page. Qcne (talk) 20:45, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
