Anne Skorecki Levy moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Anne Skorecki Levy, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 03:14, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
- Hi RosPost. It was lovely to meet you at the edit-a-thon today. I can see in your sandbox that you have a lot more content for the Anne Skorecki Levy article. When you add it to Draft:Anne Skorecki Levy, I'm confident it will sail through. Please let me know if you need any help. Cheers, Clayoquot (talk | contribs) 05:04, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
- Sounds like a great suggestion! I let Ipigott that you made the submission.
Thanks for attending

Fiberworks, Center for the Textile Arts, was an internationally recognized art center at 1940 Bonita Avenue, Berkeley, California. 1: Donald Thalacker, The Place of Art in the World of Architecture, Chelsea House Publishers, New York, NY. 1980 p. 142)
Founded in 1973 by Hungarian-born artist Gyöngy Laky, it became an internationally recognized art center that helped redefine textile arts. It included a wide range of contemporary and experimental approached based in the textile media. The Fiberworks gallery showcased textile art in the early 1970s, a time when most other commercial galleries and museums gave textile medium scant exposure. 2. Giselle Eberhard Cotton & Magali Junet, From Tapestry to Fiber Art: Lausanne Biennials 1962-95, Skira. Milan, Italy, 2017pp 78-80)
Foremost was the year-round Community School, the Special Studies program, the Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts accredited programs in conjunction with Lone Mountain College of San Francisco (in Wikipedia). Many of the school's faculty, lecturers, exhibitors and students were, or would go on to become, influential leaders in the arts including Lia Cook, Katherine Westphal, Mildred Howard, Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada, Jack Lenor Larsen, Gyöngy Laky, David Ireland, Ed Rossbach, Nance O’Banion and Morgan O’Hara to mention only a few. (all of them are in Wikipedia)
Gyöngy Laky
Gyöngy Laky (born in Budapest, Hungary, 1944) is an American sculptor living and working in San Francisco, California. Her work has been exhibited in the U.S., Europe, Asia and South America. She gained recognition early in her career for her linear sculptures constructed in the architectural methods of textile arts. [1] “Laky’s art manifests architectonic sensibility. She is as much an engineer as she is an artist in the conventional sense.” [2] She is also known for her site-specific, outdoor, temporary installations. [3]

Early life and education Both her undergraduate and graduate studies were pursued at University of California, Berkeley. Postgraduate work followed with the U C Professional Studies in India Program. While at the University of California she studied with Ed Rossbach, Peter Voulkos, Lillian Elliott and Joanne Brandford. In India she studied with Haku Shah.
Laky arrived in the U.S. with her refugee family in 1949 escaping from Hungary and the turbulent aftermath of WWII. The family was taken in by a sponsoring family in Lorain, OH later moving to Oklahoma City, Dallas and eventually Northern California. As a 12-year-old, Laky moved with her family to Carmel, California, a thriving art colony at the time. She studied with her mother, painter Zyta Laky, and attended Carmel Highschool.
Career Laky’s art ranges from the hand held to large-scale, temporary installations outdoors. Her materials vary as much as the size and shape of her work. She is particularly noted for constructing with linear elements of wood - both natural and commercial. Having begun her career in traditional fine arts she became influenced by her close association with architecture at U C Berkeley.
As of 2005, Laky is Professor Emeritus of University of California, Davis, (chair, Department of Art mid-1990s).

Invitation to Local Wikimania Event in San Francisco this Friday
[edit]Hi!
Wikimania is happening and hopefully you're enjoying the sessions. While it's fairly last minute, you're warmly invited to participate in the local Wikimania-themed meetup in the Wikimedia Foundation office this Friday (tomorrow!). You will have to register in advance, but we would love to see more people from the WikiSalon community participate! For more information and registration, please check out meta:Wikimania 2022/San Francisco Meetup.
The event will involve hacking, teaching, learning, and celebrating and we'll have snacks. We will have the opportunity to watch live sessions at Wikimania together in the afternoon. The rest of the day we'll have opportunity to participate in the hackathon, and we may have some on-demand workshops/learning sessions.
In case we run out of space, it's first-come-first-serve so let us know soon! Hope to see you there.

In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}
to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:40, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
