Dear Roosa
[edit]Dear Roosa, I've just protected your userpage due to continued vandalism by a particular user who seems to be targetting you at fi.wiki as well. If you want the protection lifted, please contact me. Have a beautiful day! Phaedriel - 12:44, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Anytime, dear! :) This gentleman has a particular axe to grind with you, me and several other users, for reasons I ignore. I'm also contacting a fi.wiki admin to block the troll accounts he uses there, and to protect your Finnish userpage. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Later! :) Phaedriel - 12:50, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, you're so kind person. :)
- I believe it's because of my own wiki, which focuses on Antivandalism work (mainly on Wikia), but yes, this user seems to be the "Johnny the Vandal" troll, so it's nice to get those userpages protected (most of them do not need editing anyway). Thank you for all your assistance. :) --Roosa 12:52, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

(Impostor?) account on Spanish Wikipedia
[edit]Judging from the contribs, it seems that Roosa on the Spanish Wikipedia is an impostor of yours, is it? TML 08:10, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, you are correct. I don't speak Spanish and all the legitimate accounts are listed on my Meta userpage. Just one of the many, many imposters...sadly. --Roosa 11:47, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
My Rfa
[edit]Thanks for voting in my Rfa, which I withdrew from yesterday. Though I did not get promoted, I see this Rfa as being a success nonetheless. What I got out of this Rfa will help me to be a better, all around editor. Because of this Rfa I have decided to become better in other areas of editing. I'm not going to just be a vandalfighter. Though vandalfighting is good, being active in all areas of editing is even better. Have a nice day.--SJP 22:27, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Hello, I have indented your vote on Newyorkbrad's voting page in the Arbitration Committee Election. In order to vote, editors must have 150 mainspace edits as of 1 November 2007. Per your User Contributions, you had fewer than that number. Accordingly, your vote is removed from the count - though, I note that it remains on record as a statement of your position. Please feel free to post any questions you may have at my talk page, or at the talk page for the election. Thank you for your interest in participating in this year's election. Regards. [edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Nokia 6730 classic, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page TFT (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Requesting an edit on mk Wikipedia
[edit]Hello. I saw that you recently edited mk:МедијаВики:Gadgets-definition to make some gadgets work with the Resource Loader. Could you please also make the GoogleTrans gadget (the first one in the list) use the ResourceLoader? Now all that's needed is to add that [ResourceLoader] there. Navigation popups also doesn't work, if you want you can fix that too for them by adding [ResourceLoader] there too, and maybe replacing the content of their mk:МедијаВики:Gadget-popups.js page with
mw.loader.load('https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-popups.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); mw.loader.load('https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-navpop.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css', 'text/css');
as per Wikipedia:Navigation popups#Installation so that they have the latest verison. Thank you. --V111P (talk) 08:06, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Requesting an edit on MKwiki
[edit]Hi there,
I'm just like V111P in that I need an edit done to the Gadget definition file for the Gadget GoogleTrans.
wiki 1.26 requires a change to MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition to support gadgets on the mkwiki, which I believe you can edit. The enwiki version, which is working fine, has this entry in the above file for GoogleTrans:
- GoogleTrans[ResourceLoader]|GoogleTrans.js
(That bullet mark above is actually an asterick)
Endo999 (talk) 06:34, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
- @V111P and Endo999: First off, sorry about the extremely delayed response on my part! I thought I had answered your messages, but apparently I was mistaken. So sorry about that! In the future, you might want to ping me also on my MediaWiki.org user talk page, which I read more frequently, or come find me on IRC (my contact details can be found on my MediaWiki.org user page).
- Now, when I ported a bunch of mkwiki's gadgets to ResourceLoader last August, I somewhat intentionally chose not to touch the Navigation Popups and Google Translate gadgets. Why? For a bunch of different reasons:
- The idea of keeping gadgets central. I really wanted to migrate mkwiki's navpopups to use the central version (i.e. this) because keeping gadgets central is a very good idea which generally helps, but if I recall correctly, mkwiki had some local customizations (namely at least translated interface texts, probably more?) to it which weren't present in the central version. I didn't want to "break" the existing functionality, and I also figured we'd want to "upstream" (i.e. move/copy over to enwiki) the Macedonian translation. However, Macedonian isn't listed on the translation page for the navpopups gadget; a native speaker of Macedonian should review the current translations (on mkwiki) against the texts of the master version and update any and all outdated texts and translate the untranslated ones. (I'll be happy to help you out with the technical aspect of this.)
- Old and ugly code. The Google Translation gadget was written well before jQuery was even created, so it's pretty messy by today's standards. But not only that, it would very likely be broken even if loaded via ResourceLoader because it does some weird and scary things which aren't really supported anymore and/or for which there are way better methods these days. I was able to find the same gadget on some other Wikipedias and Wikimedia projects, but I was unable to locate its master version, let alone the person or people maintaining it. And as always with big rewrites, it would need to be tested and bugfixed, which is a rather time-consuming process and as such, I cannot fully commit to it.
- Maybe you could ask some other JavaScript-savvy people, such as Krinkle, Matma Rex, and TheDJ for their thoughts on how to handle this issue? --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 14:42, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying. You can't actually break functionality in a gadget that doesn't work at all anyway, so I wouldn't worry about that. As for GoogleTrans, all that's needed now according to Endo999 is that [ResourceLoader], since we couldn't convince a local administrator to do that last thing, probably because they don't understand it (neither do I). This gadget is also installed on the English Wikipedia. I'm not saying it's code is nice, but saying that it does something scary is probably an exaggeration. And I don't see what's the point in leaving broken gadgets in the small Wikipedias. You can select them in Preferences/Gadgets, but they don't work. --V111P (talk) 14:20, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
