Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Clayton County Public Schools, and I noticed that your username, "Rscccs", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, Rscccs, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:01, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Ingenuity. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Clayton County Public Schools have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 15:36, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Since you have a conflict of interest with the subject, you should not be editing the page directly at all. Please suggest improvements to the article's talk page instead. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 15:37, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what is promoting about adding a bio and new leadership name to reflect new organizational structure. Ron Shields from Clayton County (talk) 15:38, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe 1-2 sentences, with a reliable source, on the superintendent, but you added an entire resume. As I stated before, you are a paid editor and are not allowed to edit the page directly anyway. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 15:40, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this explanation. Please be advised that is not a resume, that is called biographical information. Which is no different from I previously placed on this page as I have been, with Wikipedia's permission, updating this page for the better part of 6 years. Nothing I have ever added has been promotional as I am clear that is not what Wikipedia is for. If guidelines have changed, please be sure to let me know. However, this information needs to be corrected. Unless Wikipedia is comfortable with intentionally and knowingly advertising incorrect and out of date information. Please advise. Ron Shields from Clayton County (talk) 15:44, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You have never received explicit permission to add this content to the page. Since you are a paid editor, you must comply with Wikipedia's paid editing policies. In the future, if you would like to change something on the page, you can make a request on the article's talk page and use the {{Edit request}} template. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 16:53, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am reaching out again to determine the status of the changes requested to the Clayton County Public Schools Wiki Page Talk:Clayton County Public Schools. I have submitted those changes to the page Talk Page as requested. I would also still like clarity on why I am not able to make these edits directly as I have for years dating back to 2017 in which I was clearly identified as a "paid contributor" by Wikipedia on my Talk Page. Just looking for clarity on a confusing situation. Ron Shields from Clayton County (talk) 15:26, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your message above on why you are not able to make these edits directly as I have for years dating back to 2017, here is a sample of your additions to the article over the years:

  • "In addition to dedicating much of his life as a professional educator, Dr. Beasley has a devout love for his family and ministry. He enjoys traveling, swimming, reading, writing, horseback riding, cooking and entertaining family and friends."
  • "Due to his deep roots and strong community ties throughout Clayton County, Dr. Smith is highly regarded as a dedicated leader with a transformative and innovative approach to education and those elements designed to improve the experience and outcomes of all students."

Anyone who thinks these are remotely acceptable in tone for a Wikipedia article should not be editing that article. It's nothing personal, but paid contributors oftene have trouble recognizing the promotionalism of their proposed additions simiply due to their conflict of interest. (There are also copyright issues with the additions as they stand, but they wouldn't be appropriate for the article even if permissions were properly verified.) DanCherek (talk) 15:32, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Dan for this month late response. However the issue still remains the same. The district has hired a new Superintendent. I have submitted changes via the Talk page as requested back in February with no response until now. If you would be able to assist making the needed changes in alignment with Wikipedia's apparently made up standard of what is promotional or not, that would be extremely helpful.
Are you someone who can assist or will my multiple requests for assistance continue to be ignored? Ron Shields from Clayton County (talk) 15:37, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Don't feel super inclined to help when you say stuff like "apparently made up standard of what is promotional or not", but I've added a few sentences on the current superintendent, to the detail that I believe is appropriate. DanCherek (talk) 15:47, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Well I certainty I understand your inclination, but I hope you understand my/our frustration as this has been ongoing for 3 months with multiple attempts to request help but only getting a response once I have actually changed something.... I don't work for Wikipedia, but it would be great if the people that did, were actually helpful. My only desire is to have the most up to date information available.... Something I assume Wikipedia also would hope to achieve.
Thank you. Ron Shields from Clayton County (talk) 15:54, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't work for Wikipedia, nor do any of the people who answer edit requests. We're volunteers. DanCherek (talk) 15:58, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As I am trying to operate within the limited view of promotionalism that Wikipedia apparently has newly embedded into its company values, Clayton County Public School has appointed a bunch of new principals and the listing on the page is completely wrong. Do I have the autonomy to update those names or is that considered promotional as well? Ron Shields from Clayton County (talk) 15:46, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you make a post on the talk page with current names of school principals, I will be happy to update the tables. A list is fine, no need to format it into a table or anything. DanCherek (talk) 15:59, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Dan, finally a helpful "Volunteer".... Can you also point me to the talk page? I have posted to a talk page before and those edits went unmade and unacknowledged.
Wise remarks aside, you have actually been helpful. Ron Shields from Clayton County (talk) 16:02, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A new section at Talk:Clayton County Public Schools will be fine, below your previous one. I am sorry that you have had to wait a while, I know it is frustrating to have outdated information. DanCherek (talk) 16:04, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Yes it is extremely frustrating, I will update the information and return to tag you when it is completed. Ron Shields from Clayton County (talk) 16:12, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have added the information to the talk page as discussed. Ron Shields from Clayton County (talk) 17:07, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
