[edit]Please do not continue to upload files with missing or false information on their copyright status, as you did at Vanessa Ferlito. Please note that Wikipedia takes copyright and copyright infringement very seriously. Images and other media may only be uploaded and included if they meet the conditions stated in our image use policy, and if their provenance is clearly documented. If you have questions, feel free to ask at the copyright question page or on my talk page. Also note that you have previously had the image you just tried to add to Vanessa Ferlito deleted on Commons, so it is not like you are unaware that the image has copyright issues – please stop adding it to the article. Thank you. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:09, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Vanessa Ferlito.JPG
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Vanessa Ferlito.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:
- state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
- add the relevant copyright tag.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. - Roman1382, if you do have the rights to this image, please follow the guidelines at Wikipedia:Image use policy#Copyright and licensing and provide the correct licensing information for this photo. Liz Read! Talk! 17:22, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, this is good advice – if you can get proper licensing for the image for Wikipedia, it can then be added to the infobox (with proper formatting). --IJBall (contribs • talk) 18:39, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- Except that it's complicated and something only lawyers understand, yet enforced by volunteer lay editors. I think that if you don't want to publicly identify yourself, yet still give permission for the photo, that can be done through backchannels via our "OTRS" system. You want to somehow get an OTRS volunteer to put Template:OTRS permission on the photo's file page. See Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard. I think that per Commons:Template:OTRS pending, you should forward proof of permission to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org – hopefully if you look around there you can figure out how to do this, it's not something I've ever needed to do myself. I am her personal assistant and took the photo myself. Please stop taking it off — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roman1382 (talk • contribs) 16:45, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- Roman1382 please read the above discussion. Firstly "I" am not the person who deleted the photo from Wikipedia Commons – but it was removed from Commons because it was not clear that you had the legal rights to the photo. Second, in order for Wikipedia to use the photo, you have to establish that you personally do have the rights to the photo in order for it to stay on Wikipedia and not be deleted. Wbm1058 gave you a pretty good suggestion above about who to contact to establish that you have the rights to that photo... Good luck! --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:55, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

. only (talk) 16:55, 30 January 2016 (UTC)@Only: For the record, I believe a block, especially an indefinite one, is premature in this case. If Roman1382 is to be believed, they work for Vanessa Ferlito, and have been trying to add a photo to her article in good faith, but because they don't know Wikipedia "rules", they've been "doing it wrong". 16:58, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
