[edit]Thanks. I guess there are no absolute "rights" and "wrongs" with these things. It's all a matter of convention and custom. I've seen a lot of variations out there in the real world when it comes to postnominals, and more and more so as people become less and less educated about them. I guess all we can do is establish what we think is the "right" set of rules and stick to them. Even if we're wrong in the eyes of some others, it's better to be consistently wrong than sometimes right and sometimes wrong. A lot of the rules about these sorts of things have their roots in the mists of British history, so it's to be expected that, as Australia lurches ever closer to the republic, we'll all get a lot less uptight about them and our own set of "rules" will come into existence. Who knows? Cheers JackofOz 13:27, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi there Roisterer - I have done an American Mathematical Society search for his research papers, and it came up with a few - You may want to reconsider your vote, although I don't know enough about the stuff to explain it. Most of the junk about his hobbies should be removed though. Blnguyen 00:25, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
Stott
[edit]I saw on Adam Carr's talk page that you were writing an article about Tom Stott. You probably already know about it, but if not, "Barnacles and parasites: independent members of the South Australian parliament 1927-1970" by Reece Jennings may be a useful resource. I found most of its coverage particularly irritating, but the author has a fascination with Stott, and there was lots of material on him. Ambi 02:43, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- Heh. I was spending quite a bit of time in the National Library when I first got back to Canberra, and came across the book while I was looking for member lists of the SA parliament. I'm trying to write a series of articles on the history of ACT politics at the moment, but I really should come back and finish those soon. Ambi 06:35, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Old Adelaide
[edit]You seem to know quite a bit of South Australia's political history. I am quite interested myself - are their any particular books or records from which you delve your information? Thankyou, michael talk 04:36, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Mortlock library
[edit]My stomping ground at Adelaide University is just 100m away. do you know the name of the book? You probably would have been better off just messaging the wikipedians in sa category. Luckily I don't have an interest in AFL but have been watchlisting it because I started a discussion about deleting AFL pages. Regards, Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 05:50, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Page Blanking
[edit]On 15-Mar, you blanked Little Johnny Taylor. Blanking pages is generally considered a bad idea. I've reverted it to the previous version. If you believe the redirect should be deleted, please follow the redirect portion of the deletion procedures. If you believe an article should be written instead of the redirect, please write a stub. If you have questions, please let me know. Thanks! -- JLaTondre 04:48, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Review
[edit]Just wondering if you might be able to take a look at History of Burnside for me and offer any advice on how to improve it before I put it up as a featured article candidate! Thanks, michael talk 11:33, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Nice article on David Vigor - another I'd been meaning to write forever! I'll look forward to your article on the Liberal Federation, too - I'm doing some work on South Australian state politics at the moment (indexing the early parliaments), so it'd be nice to actually have articles on the early parties when I get that far. :) Rebecca 04:39, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Australia New Zealand Database
[edit]- The ACT Public Library has subscriptions to a wide range of useful databases. One of these is an Australian-New Zealand Reference Centre media database consisting of many notable publications. It has the Fairfax and News Limited papers in Australia plus ABC Online as well as New Zealand Press. You can search many of its databases at once and is a very useful tool although only available to people with an ACT Library Card. I recommend to all ACT Wikipedians to get a library card and to other Wikipedians to find out what may be available through their public or university libraries. It comes in very handy for finding sources for articles. You can look at the search options here. [1] Capitalistroadster 19:19, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
File:Atlanticpuffin4.jpg | Hello Roisterer. Thank you for your support at request for adminship which ended at the overwhelming (especially from occasional Australian RfA participants) and flattering result of (160/1/0), and leaves me in a position of having to live up to a high standard of community expectation. If you need any admin assistance, feel free to ask me, and naturally, if I make any procedural mistakes, feel free to point them out and I look forward to working with you in the future, Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 06:45, 30 May 2006 (UTC) |
Hi there Roisterer. You're aware of Sam Vimes also I hope? Blnguyen | rant-line 02:01, 19 June 2006 (UTC).
Answer to statement you mad on my talkpage
[edit]But actually, the colony was only in it early years when there was a large influx of German immigration, at one time they made up as much as "ten percent" of the population there. I would like to write more on this later. Myrtone@Roisterer.com.au:-)
