The Nice

Hi RodHull. I notice you just created that article, Nice (The Nice album). It looks decent. The only problem is that the redirect doesn't really make sense. Elegy (The Nice album) should be a redlink right now.

There are just a few things to do to Nice (The Nice album) to make it complete. It needs the {{album}} template on the talk page. It needs artist and year categories. Please format the review in the infobox according to the recommendation on the album project page Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums#Professional reviews. And check out the rest of that page for more guidelines and tips.

Thanks and happy editing!-Freekee 15:49, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

By the way, you should probably move those two Userboxes to your User page, rather than this User Talk page. I didn't see your name on that list because it wasn't listed alphabetically with everyone else. Of course, I also didn't see the Album Project box on this page, so what do I know? ;-) -Freekee 15:53, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
No problem, glad to be of assistance. I forgot - the article also needs a Personnel section. Musicians, at least. Production credits if possible. Once that's in, it's Start Class. -Freekee 16:32, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
I notice that you created Elegy (Nice album). Very nice (forgive the unintended pun). You skipped right over Stub class with that one. But now I see there are issues in the chronology. There is also a page (a redirect) for Elegy (The Nice album). And several pages link to that one, which redirects to a different album. This must be fixed. Probably should redirect that one to the album page instead, even though I prefer that one over the page title at the article. Let me know if you need any assistance. And I recommend clicking through the chronology in the album infoboxes, to make sure all the links go to the right places. -Freekee 05:16, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Laurie Taylor

Hi Rodhullandemu, my interest in Laurie Taylor is mostly to do with his involvement with the National Deviancy Conference, a group of radical sociologists and criminologists (or deviancy theorists as they termed themseleves) all accounts i've read put down laurie as one of the key members in the early year, so i thought it should have a mention on his page. If i come across anything else criminology related i'll add to it, but that's my expertise.Votemoose 09:36, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

You're correct - I've upgraded them to start class Papa November 09:58, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

No one else in WP:ALBUM seems to be particularly interested in assessments, but it's great that you're working hard! I'll be away for the next week or so, but you could try messaging other project members to ask them to take a look. Also consider placing a request on the project talk page if you don't get a response after a couple of days. Cheers, Papa November 23:58, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Cara Readle

Thank You. You are quite right to not add the link, it's just that often bebo pages supposedly belonging to famous people are not genuine, so this quote could be completely inaccurate. Whatever you wish to do with it, go ahead. Thanks again.

Fora vs. Forums

I agree that both are likely acceptable as plurals in English and the latter may even be more common than the former. However, I don't like forums and don't normally use it. I'm not sure what led me to use it on the discussion page at Project Law. Since it was a talk page, my original, nobody had ever repied, and it was not a substantive change, I felt free to change it. Hope that was ok with everyone.--Doug.(talk contribs) 22:10, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Annie2007small.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Annie2007small.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:06, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

References sections

Is this happening to every page without a Refs section, even if they don't need one? --Rodhullandemu 20:17, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Absolutely not! Rich Farmbrough, 20:18 13 September 2007 (GMT).

Hi, now I'm *really* confused. I read WP:Delete which seemed to suggest this was the route to proceed. Can you help? --Rodhullandemu 19:32, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Specifically, what did you read at WP:Delete that suggested deletion review was the way to go? -- Jreferee (Talk) 19:35, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys AfD

I created Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys (song) on your behalf, so please feel free to comment there. -- Jreferee (Talk) 20:06, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use disputed for Image:MaceyCruthird.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:MaceyCruthird.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:11, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:EnidSixPieces.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:EnidSixPieces.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:51, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Your health

I am terrible at condolences and never know what to say that to my mind at least doesn't sound like empty platitudes. Just do what you need to do while you're still here, and I'm not upset about your wording in the AfD, I was just correcting a misperception. Corvus cornix 02:05, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Toyah

Yes unfortunately fair use images arent allowed in info boxes, but they can be used to illustrate parts within text. I will tweak the rationale to explain that it is being used to illustrate her punk music phase.

Wont your previous edits be saved in the edit history? You can just revert to that instead of rewriting it. Or did you lose your edit because you had an edit conflict? You may already know, but when an edit conflict happens, your edit will be saved in tact - if you scroll down to the bottom of the warning page. So when you have an edit conflict (ie it wont let you save because someone else has edited it during your edit), you will be taken to a screen that has the current edit in an upper box, and then your edit in a box below. You can just copy and merge your edit from the bottom box into the top box, and then resave. So if you havent closed the page you were editing yet, you wont have to rewrite anything. I hope this makes sense, i'm probably explaining it really baadly :) Gungadin 14:57, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks for that, but I think I was surprised in mid-edit. I've seen loads of images of people in infoboxes so I need to look into this. Meanwhile I'll see if I still have my edits cached. --Rodhullandemu 15:04, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Well I hope you find it :) They have come down pretty hard about fair-use images (like screenshots from tv, dvd, music vids etc) in infoboxes over the last year. The only images that are allowed in infoboxes are free ones, so one that has been taken by a fan or something, and then released into public domain by the author.
I've tweaked the rationale. It might be wise to include mention of the song or video in the text, just so noone tags it for deletion again. I was going to add in some chart placements for her songs in the text to include "brave new world" (ie in 1982 Wilcox made number 21 with the single Brave New world, the only single released from The Changeling album. It was inspired by David Bowie...), but I'll wait til you finish working on the article before I do anything :) Gungadin 15:27, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Hey, I think you've done an excellent job on the Toyah article. I meant to add my bits in last night but I got distracted. I'm still planning on adding the song title in the prose at somepoint though, just so the image isnt deleted.:) Gungadin 16:03, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm not too familiar with her music to be honest. Proabably was inspired by the book. I got the stuff about Bowie from the single's article Brave New World (single), though you are right, it should be sourced and I see that it isn't there. I will do some researching and see what I can come up with.Gungadin 16:26, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

I've reported him at WP:AIV, it's up to an admin to continue further, and for us just to keep an eye on his vandalism and revert until an admin blocks him. Corvus cornix 21:08, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

He got blocked. :) Corvus cornix 21:10, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Concerning Filatex India

Hi, on the article above, I removed the speedy template. While this may be advertisy, it is not blatantly so; notability is also established. If you like, you might bring this up at WP:AFD. Lectonar 14:57, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

No problem. Cheers and happy editing. Lectonar 15:17, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Re: My Userpage

As you state, Wikipedia is not a dating service, and I found that after unwanted messages, It was more sensible to keep my sexual orientation personal, rather than public. Scarletsugar —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 09:14, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Bilis Manger

Because it's unreferenced to any reliable source, and is therefore speculation, which isn't allowed unless we can say "actor Burn Gorman believes that Bilis may be an anagram of Iblis..." or something.~ZytheTalk to me! 10:03, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

If you can reference it to an online interview, magazine article, podcast, DVD commentary or Torchwood Declassified, then that's absolutely fine :) ~ZytheTalk to me! 12:01, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

{{helpme}} I have an issue with US copyright which I've reverted for. Can't find the right answer

I've posted a reply on the talk page. Works of the U.S. Federal Government are by default in the public domain, unless of course they're sealed as mentioned by User:Nazz. As long as the document in question is from a federal court and NOT a state or local court, it can be used provided enough information is given to verify that this is the case. See {{PD-USGov}} and the links therein for more information. Don't worry, these can often be complicated situations and I actually screwed this up just last night as well - I tagged a bunch of pages for speedy deletion as a copyvio when in fact there was no copyright to violate. Thanks for keeping an eye out for it - with copyright, it's generally better to be cautious. Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:35, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Sure, glad to help. Let me know if you need me to swing by again. Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:57, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:MarnyAsTaylor.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 11:58, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
