DYK for Wizard Bloody Wizard

On 4 January 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Wizard Bloody Wizard, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Electric Wizard described their album Wizard Bloody Wizard as "43 brain-damaging minutes, six savage hymns to death, drugs, sex and violence, music dragged (and drugged) back from the grave"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Wizard Bloody Wizard. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Wizard Bloody Wizard), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

All hope is gone

I noticed on the “all hope is gone” album by slipknot that the only genre included is groove metal, yet in the styles and themes sections it clearly states that the album is groove, alternative, thrash, and death. Is there a reason not to add those genres to the genre section? Thank you for your time and please consider adding these genres to be more informative

High and Dry by the Stones

just curious: why did you delete the mention of the Stones' High and Dry? Jb4WIKIacc0 (talk) 09:16, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

Because there is absolutely nothing notable about that. Robvanvee 11:19, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Robvanvee, thank you for your efforts in reviewing new pages!
The NPP backlog at the end of the drive with the number of unreviewed articles by creation date. Red is older than 90 days, orange is between 90 and 30 days old, and green is younger than 30 days.

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 3819 unreviewed articles, with a further 6660 unreviewed redirects.
  • We are very close to eliminating the backlog completely; please help by reviewing a few extra articles each day!

New Year Backlog Drive results:

  • We made massive progress during the recent four weeks of the NPP Backlog Drive, during which the backlog reduced by nearly six thousand articles and the length of the backlog by almost 3 months!

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL will end it's initial phase on the 14th of March. Our goal is to reduce the backlog significantly below the 90 day index point by the 14th of March. Please consider helping with this goal by reviewing a few additional pages a day.
  • Reviewing redirects is an important and necessary part of New Page Patrol. Please read the guideline on appropriate redirects for advice on reviewing redirects. Inappropriate redirects can be re-targeted or nominated for deletion at RfD.

Thanks for uploading File:Police arresting Rastafarian in South Africa.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. New Page Review Newsletter No.10

Hello Robvanvee, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

ACTRIAL:

  • ACTRIAL's six month experiment restricting new page creation to (auto)confirmed users ended on 14 March. As expected, a greatly increased number of unsuitable articles and candidates for deletion are showing up in the feed again, and the backlog has since increased already by ~30%. Please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day.

Paid editing

  • Now that ACTRIAL is inoperative pending discussion, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary.

Subject-specific notability guidelines

Nominate competent users for Autopatrolled

  • While patrolling articles, if you find an editor that is particularly competent at creating quality new articles, and that user has created more than 25 articles (rather than stubs), consider nominating them for the 'Autopatrolled' user right HERE.

News

  • The next issue Wikipedia's newspaper The Signpost has now been published after a long delay. There are some articles in it, including ACTRIAL wrap-up that will be of special interest to New Page Reviewers. Don't hesitate to contribute to the comments sections. The Signpost is one of the best ways to stay up date with news and new developments - please consider subscribing to it. Reversion of my recent edits

Are you gonna keep stalking me around the site using the """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""unsourced"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" edit summary? Heepman1997 (talk) 07:34, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

As long as you choose to blatantly ignore Wikipedia policy, yes. Robvanvee 10:29, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

Nagasaki Spirit

Hi, You tagged the The Nagasaki Spirit page as having insufficient inline citations. As it stands, the page has the case reference, the full text of the House of Lords judgment, a contemporary news report, reference to Aleka Mandaraka-Sheppard's leading textbook, references to SCOPIC itself and to articles on SCOPIC. Please advise precisely what else you would also like to see. Thanks. Arrivisto (talk) 16:19, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi Arrivisto. There are a few paragraphs sentences that don't have any footnotes at all, hence my tagging. Robvanvee 16:25, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Re-reading, my tag is probably not necessary. I'll remove it. Robvanvee 16:28, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. I've just added some more stuff anyway! Arrivisto (talk) 16:37, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

Enjoy the Silence edit

Clearly you didn't bother to read Janita's page which clearly states with a credible source that she recorded a cover of the Depeche Mode song. Rmcrae2015 (talk) 12:57, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Please don't make assumptions about what I may or may not have read. She may have covered the song but it certainly is not a Janita song and putting in a category as such is unproductive. Robvanvee 14:22, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

I'm stating a fact because it says clear as day that she covered the song in 2006 and released it as a single which peaked at number thirty-six on Billboard's Jazz Songs chart that same year. Saying it's not a Janita song makes about as much sense as saying it isn't a Lacuna Coli song, which is another cover that has been placed in the song's category. Why is that one allowed to stay and Janita's isn't? Rmcrae2015 (talk) 15:45, 24 April 2018 (UTC) Care to answer the question? --Rmcrae2015 (talk) 22:27, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Yes, when I wake up. The LC version is considered notable whereas hers is not, much like the Johnny Cash version of Hurt. Robvanvee 05:46, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Grant Ujifusa

I added an extensive piece from a Japanese newspaper discussing Grant's work to redress the injustices done to Japanese Americans who were interned during the Second World War to the external links section. Unfortunately, he's not a very public public figure-not many interviews or pronouncements on current affairs, so there's not a huge Web trail. That said, I think his work on achieving a law compensating and acknowledging Japanese American internees, as well as in creating/editing The Almanac of American Politics, is sufficiently noteworthy.

Ruthfulbarbarity (talk) 18:45, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

Not sure why you are telling me this? I merely tagged the page as needing additional sources due to BLP issues, not for deletion. Robvanvee 05:44, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.11 25 May 2018

Hello Robvanvee, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

ACTRIAL:

  • WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.

Deletion tags

  • Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.

Backlog drive:

  • A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

Editathons

  • There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.

Paid editing - new policy

  • Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.

Subject-specific notability guidelines

  • The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
  • Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.

Not English

  • A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.

News

  • Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
  • The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.

Hi. Re: supposed unconstructive edit to the article Humanz -- browser autocorrect changed the word "Humanz" to "Human" when I simply applied italics to it, and I did not notice. Browser autocorrect often changes "itals" to "vitals" on me as well. I am at work and cannot disable the autocorrect. Hi! Thanks for your message re. Strangelove. I checked the page for the album Music for the Masses and the song was actually released on 13 April 1987, not 2 weeks later as I had got from discogs.com, so I fixed it. Sfinn85 (talk) 12:10, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

Hello Rob,

My unsourced content on Mike Nugent does not have a source because I found out Mike's middle name from Mike Nugent himself. With your permission I would like to add Nugent's middle name to his Wiki page. Please let me know. Thanks!

Uebelhoer (Talk) 15:16, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

Hey Uebelhoer, unfortunately as per WP:BLP all information added to biographical articles must be sourced especially with regards to living people. I imagine it shouldn't be too hard to find with a Google search. If you need help adding a source, let me know. Robvanvee 05:46, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

Editing Snoop Dogg

About the message, you sent about me about Snoop Dogg. It said so in his personal life the same thing without a source added. How come that contribution's allowed when mine isn't? Or, have you not yet seen that?

The section you edited pertains to current relationships and the 2 of them are not currently involved, hence my reverting. Robvanvee 14:57, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

But, Nicolas Cage is no longer involved with Christina Fulton, but she's still on a similar section to the one I edited. How come that one flies by, but mine doesn't?

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Not Too Amused.ogg

Thank you for uploading File:Not Too Amused.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Also:

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:04, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:16, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.12 30 July 2018

Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months. (Purge)

Hello Robvanvee, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

June backlog drive

Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.

New technology, new rules
  • New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
  • Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
  • Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.
Editathons
  • Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
The Signpost
  • The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. If you have special messages to be published, or if you would like to submit an article (one about NPR perhaps?), don't hesitate to contact the editorial team here.

August 2018

Hello Robvanvee,

Sorry about those genre changes I made to Hellbilly Deluxe. I do have a question. When looking at the genres of other albums, I do not always see source references accompanying the genre. Does this mean that the editor did not have to site their source and where they got it from, or are they just not choosing to show it on the public page? Thanks.MetalHead4 (talk) 08:30, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi MetalHead4. Every editor should source all their edits as a general rule, however that doesn't mean many haven't slipped through over the years leading to lots of unsourced genre's. Most people have just accepted them but if you don't and it is unsourced, you may challenge it on the talk page or remove it altogether. May I suggest first reading the article from top to bottom to see that it isn't perhaps sourced in one of the sections below such as "style" or "critical reception". Happy editing. Robvanvee 14:49, 9 August 2018 (UTC)

Several sources = no sources ?

I saw that you had reverted my edits regarding Shaft and Soul Is... Pretty Purdie by Bernard Purdie with the motive "Unsourced". For samples, since I added sources for each of them, I don't understand how it can be unsourced. I guess the problem is maybe the source itself, but since WhoSampled is a serious website, I can't see any problem.

I can at least understand that the genre section needs a source, however, since I've taken time to add length information (in addition to the sample information), I would like my edits to be left intact, that's why I canceled your reversion.

Thank you in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.161.16.190 (talk) 14:46, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

It was your genre changes/additions such as here that were unsourced and as per this policy, were reverted. Regarding WhoSampled, I'm not sure whether it is or isn't considered reliable on Wikipedia but at least it is a source. Not really interested in this field (can't remember how I got here in the first place) so good luck & Happy editing! Robvanvee 07:34, 17 August 2018 (UTC)

Deleted Source

Hey. I saw that you've changed my edits the Killing in the Name page with even though I put the source in. I get that if it was an unreliable source there wouldn't be an issue, but this source was used in a bunch of other pages such as Dragula (song), so I don't know why this page should be no different. Also, I get that some people consider Korn to be the first Nu Metal band, but a lot of evidence not just this point to Rage Against the Machine is really the inventor of the genre. And if you really want to get technical here some people have put older albums as said genre. If you can answer this that'll be great. Because allowing some pages use the source while others not I think is ridiculous in my opinion (I know that may have sounded rude, but that's one of the most annoying things to me). — Preceding unsigned comment added by SlytheWarrior (talkcontribs) 12:01, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

Hi. While im not 100% about the reliability of the source you provided with regards to naming genre's, I may have reverted your edit rather hastefully. My apologies. Please feel free to change it back. However, this source may come in to question at a later stage. All the best. Robvanvee 07:41, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

Snoop Dog

Agreed criticism was already included. But direct quote from Rasta organization that has denounced should be quoted, thus his "Rastafarian" status is no more. Plus its obvious - he is back to swearing, crime promotion and even Christian gospel :-)It was PR stunt. Also claiming being "Marley reincarnated" has nothing to do with Rastafari. https://death.findyourfate.com/life-after-death/rastafari.html Snoop can claim so, but it should be confronted with real Rasta view of afterlife.

Breeders album

Hi, you reverted my edit https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Last_Splash&oldid=859342465 re use of the album in a recent The Miseducation of Cameron Post (film). Yes I did.

The album is actually a significant plot element. Then it is only relevant to The Miseducation of Cameron Post (film) and not Last Splash especially in the lead.

How do I cite a scene from a movie? I can't link to it. Try this link. As for not notable, I don't see any other cultural references on the page.

Anyway, keep up the good work reverting rather than adding content. I have every intention, thanks. Quality over quantity!. CaGlwwWEDymzc7KBQC8u (talk) 18:55, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.13 18 September 2018

Hello Robvanvee, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.

Project news
As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.
Other
Moving to Draft and Page Mover
  • Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
  • If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
  • Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
  • The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
  • The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.
List of other useful scripts for New Page Reviewing

  • Twinkle provides a lot of the same functionality as the page curation tools, and some reviewers prefer to use the Twinkle tools for some/all tasks. It can be activated simply in the gadgets section of 'preferences'. There are also a lot of options available at the Twinkle preferences panel after you install the gadget.
  • In terms of other gadgets for NPR, HotCat is worth turning on. It allows you to easily add, remove, and change categories on a page, with name suggestions.
  • MoreMenu also adds a bunch of very useful links for diagnosing and fixing page issues.
  • User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js(info): Installing scripts doesn't have to be complicated. Go to your common.js and copy importScript( 'User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js' ); into an empty line, now you can install all other scripts with the click of a button from the script page! (Note you need to be at the ".js" page for the script for the install button to appear, not the information page)
  • User:TheJosh/Scripts/NewPagePatrol.js(info): Creates a scrolling new pages list at the left side of the page. You can change the number of pages shown by adding the following to the next line on your common.js page (immediately after the line importing this script): npp_num_pages=20; (Recommended 20, but you can use any number from 1 to 50).
  • User:Primefac/revdel.js(info): Is requesting revdel complicated and time consuming? This script helps simplify the process. Just have the Copyvio source URL and go to the history page and collect your diff IDs and you can drop them into the script Popups and it will create a revdel request for you.
  • User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js(info): Creates a "Page Curation" link to Special:NewPagesFeed up near your sandbox link.
  • User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/deletionFinder.js: Creates links next to the title of each page which show up if it has been previously deleted or nominated for deletion.
  • User:Evad37/rater.js(info): A fantastic tool for adding WikiProject templates to article talk pages. If you add: rater_autostartNamespaces = 0; to the next line on your common.js, the prompt will pop up automatically if a page has no Wikiproject templates on the talk page (note: this can be a bit annoying if you review redirects or dab pages commonly).

Clutch Band

Hey so i tweeted a screen shot of the Added genera "Weaponized Funk" to the official clutch account if they confirm that they fall under the Genera Weaponized Funk i am aloud to cite that tweet as proof right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CavemanXIX (talkcontribs) 12:46, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

Unfortunately not and for 2 reasons; first, "weaponized Funk" is not an actual "genre" and as such is not recognised in the general field of music or the music industry. Secondly, all genre's, as with all Wikipedia content needs to be reliably sourced. These sources need to be independent of the articles topic, in this case the band themselves. Hope that makes sense. Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months.

Hello Robvanvee, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

Backlog

As of 21 October 2018, there are 3650 unreviewed articles and the backlog now stretches back 51 days.

Community Wishlist Proposal
Project updates
  • ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, vandalism, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
  • There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.

Hi. I noticed your name on my watchlist from an edit to an album article and have been considering asking someone: Could you please add comments or review at the featured-article nomination for this article? It has stagnated since the last comments there, in mid-October. Dan56 (talk) 19:37, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

Hey Dan. I would love to but in my 6 years here I have never been involved in a FA review and am concerned I may not have the needed know-how to give you the review or comments that you require. My area of interest is generally alt rock and metal but let me read through the article properly during the course of the day and I'll get back to you later. At a quick glance it looks very impressive, especially when you look at the article before you got involved. Chat later. Robvanvee 06:22, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
Finally read it and the nomination discussion and as stated, I feel out of my depth. Sorry man, good luck. Robvanvee 14:41, 17 November 2018 (UTC)

Hello Robvanvee,

Community Wishlist Survey – NPP needs you – Vote NOW
  • Community Wishlist Voting takes place 16 to 30 November for the Page Curation and New Pages Feed improvements, and other software requests. The NPP community is hoping for a good turnout in support of the requests to Santa for the tools we need. This is very important as we have been asking the Foundation for these upgrades for 4 years.
If this proposal does not make it into the top ten, it is likely that the tools will be given no support at all for the foreseeable future. So please put in a vote today.
We are counting on significant support not only from our own ranks, but from everyone who is concerned with maintaining a Wikipedia that is free of vandalism, promotion, flagrant financial exploitation and other pollution.
With all 650 reviewers voting for these urgently needed improvements, our requests would be unlikely to fail. See also The Signpost Special report: 'NPP: This could be heaven or this could be hell for new users – and for the reviewers', and if you are not sure what the wish list is all about, take a sneak peek at an article in this month's upcoming issue of The Signpost which unfortunately due to staff holidays and an impending US holiday will probably not be published until after voting has closed.

This Kamikaze dude...

Hey man, I see you've taken notice of this dude who keeps messing with the Kamikaze page. Apparently this kid is using like three or four different IP addresses and is editing through a mobile device; I've sent messages to two of them warning him to stop but he isn't responsive. I can't help but wonder, how does one go about blocking an editor who edits through multiple IP addresses? Do you just block every single one until the kid gives it a rest or is there some other way? Seems like you have more experience in this area so I thought I'd ask. The Shadow-Fighter (talk) 09:03, 17 November 2018 (UTC)

Hey man. Ive started this so please share your thoughts there. Thanks! Robvanvee 14:31, 17 November 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, Robvanvee. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi there. I only made a few small edits on the page but can point you to the main contributor if you like? Robvanvee 17:42, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Original author

Could you please point me to the original author? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.14.27.197 (talk) 14:21, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

That would be Thenewobjective. Clicking on the link will open their talk page and you can leave a message like you did here though from the look of things, this editor doesn't seem to be particularly busy on Wikipedia and that article was their most recent contribution. If you don't get a response on their talk page, there is an "email this user" option on the left of the talk page. Good luck. Robvanvee 13:27, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.16 15 December 2018

Hello Robvanvee,

Reviewer of the Year

This year's award for the Reviewer of the Year goes to Onel5969. Around on Wikipedia since 2011, their staggering number of 26,554 reviews over the past twelve months makes them, together with an additional total of 275,285 edits, one of Wikipedia's most prolific users.

Thanks are also extended for their work to JTtheOG (15,059 reviews), Boleyn (12,760 reviews), Cwmhiraeth (9,001 reviews), Semmendinger (8,440 reviews), PRehse (8,092 reviews), Arthistorian1977 (5,306 reviews), Abishe (4,153 reviews), Barkeep49 (4,016 reviews), and Elmidae (3,615 reviews).
Cwmhiraeth, Semmendinger, Barkeep49, and Elmidae have been New Page Reviewers for less than a year — Barkeep49 for only seven months, while Boleyn, with an edit count of 250,000 since she joined Wikipedia in 2008, has been a bastion of New Page Patrol for many years.

See also the list of top 100 reviewers.

Less good news, and an appeal for some help

The backlog is now approaching 5,000, and still rising. There are around 640 holders of the NPR flag, most of whom appear to be inactive. The 10% of the reviewers who do 90% of the work could do with some support especially as some of them are now taking a well deserved break.

Really good news - NPR wins the Community Wishlist Survey 2019

At #1 position, the Community Wishlist poll closed on 3 December with a resounding success for NPP, reminding the WMF and the volunteer communities just how critical NPP is to maintaining a clean encyclopedia and the need for improved tools to do it. A big 'thank you' to everyone who supported the NPP proposals. See the results.

Training video

Due to a number of changes having been made to the feed since this three-minute video was created, we have been asked by the WMF for feedback on the video with a view to getting it brought up to date to reflect the new features of the system. Please leave your comments here, particularly mentioning how helpful you find it for new reviewers.

Poverty Die

Robvanvee, do not remove the song I edited, Olamide released a song called Poverty Die, it's not unsourced, did u remove it, stop it Oreratile1207 (talk) 17:54, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Why did u Remove my edits on Olamide Oreratile1207 (talk) 17:54, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Because they were unsourced, like most of your edits. Please note that as per this policy "The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material", in other words...source your edits. If you need to learn how to do that, check out this link. Robvanvee 18:04, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Robvanvee, Stop your nonsense, they are not unsourced information, Olamide and Phyno released new songs so they are not unsourced Oreratile1207 (talk) 10:06, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

There's no problem sourcing my edits, there are songs that Olamide released, you don't know his new song, he released a new song called Poverty Die, stop your nonsense, Robvanvee, I'm getting fed up of you removing the songs on "Olamide" and "Phyno", and if u remove them. Oreratile1207 (talk) 10:15, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

I'm going to leave this for now until Jim has a look at it. Between constantly adding unsourced info, deleting edits I've made on articles I've created out of spite for my reverting your unsourced edits with my explanatory edit summaries and leaving threatening messages on my talk page, I'd go so far as to say you are not here to build an encyclopedia. Robvanvee 10:57, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
I have blocked this editor for 72 hours. If this behavior continues, the next block will be much longer. Please keep me posted, Robvanvee. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:08, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

Limpopo Champions League

Robvanvee, stop removing the studio albums on the Sho Madjozi article, the album has been released, it's not unsourced information, if u remove sourced information, I will block you. Oreratile1207 (talk) 19:42, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

Oreratile1207, you are not an administrator and do not have the power to block other editors. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:13, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

Dear Robvanvee

Hello, You left a message on my page today about my edit of the Turtle Soup page. I just want to say if you really are bothered about a harmless edit on the genre page that you feel the need to remove it and complain to me about it then you need to get a life, ScotlandLaddie04 (talk) 20:33, 22 December 2018 (UTC)

Dude, what's with you reverting my changes on articles such as Smash and The Unseen while I was correcting some information? The correct date of when The Unseen started playing shows again is 2013 not 2015 according to the refrence, and Smash was recorded in January–February 1994 not November 1993–February 1994. 107.218.152.97 (talk) 15:14, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
