[edit]

Welcome to the talk page.

Welcome!

Hello, Robms927, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Also, I replied to your question about moving Northwestern on my talk page. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be glad to help, just a little tired right now to elaborate much more. olderwiser 02:16, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Northwestern

[edit]

I'd be happy to help out. I'll look over the articles you suggested; maybe we can get some dialogue on the talk page or a temp page about possible restructuring in the next few days. Let me know if you decide to start a WikiProject. Thanks! -- SmokeDetector47( TALK ) 20:43, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heyo. Saw your message on my talk page. I'd be interested in joining a WikiProject, although don't know enough yet to have any clue about how to start one. --Trillian1138 02:22, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Saw your post on User:Wknight94's page, unsure of where else to ask--Trillian1138 02:50, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Northwestern (Disambiguation)

[edit]

Please let me know what it means that there was "no consensus" on the request to have "Northwestern" redirect to "Northwestern University." Do you need 100 percent agreement to make renamed pages? I think there was more enthusiasm for the change rather than the current disambig page. Please let me know, I'm a newer Wikipedian so am trying to learn about the Wiki policies. Thanks. I don't believe there was a convincing consensus reached for the move. For one, there is a strong odor of sockpuppetry in the support votes. The only contribution ever by Jkw423 (talkcontribs) was to support the move - highly suspect. If I wanted to press the issue, I could probably get such a sock and its master blocked or even banned. I personally also disagree with the move. So it's two very longstanding editors plus myself opposing, versus one longstanding editor, two newbies, an anonymous user and a sockpuppet supporting. That means no consensus in my book. —Wknight94 (talk) 03:00, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was just chatting with some people on the wikipedia-bootcamp IRC channel and they basically said what Wknight94 is saying (althogh I talked to them before I saw Wknight94's post). The explanation I got was that a longstanding editor/admin (in this case, Wknight94) will look at the discussion and make a decision based on what was said and their own opinion. They also explained that it's not specifically a vote and, as Wknight94 mentioned, the status/length of time on wikipedia/etc of the poster will also factor into things. While I still agree with you that Northwestern should redirect to Northwestern University, I'm also willing to let it go, at least until I feel I have a better sense of how things work and feel I demonstrated more time as a helpful wiki editor. --Trillian1138 03:29, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NU stuff

[edit]

I tried looking at how to add coordinates, but since I don't know what NU's are, I have no idea how to add them. I'm pretty much useless when it comes to really technical stuff on here. Even when I made the template, I just cribbed from a couple other schools' templates without really knowing what I was doing. Sorry I can't be much help. --Bolt Vanderhuge 05:47, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Medill logo.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Medill logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:20, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
