College grades

[edit]

Roberta, I sincerely hope that you achieve your grades this semester. Having changed your username (albeit by the wrong method) there is no problem with your article. I would, however like it to be known - you may feel it expedient to delay telling your tutor until the grades are in - that using wikipedia for this purpose is not exactly what it is intended for. Wiki is an encyclopedia, true; but it is a flexible one, in which anyone can edit. What would have been the situation if another editor had chosen to change the article? They would have a perfect right to do so. If your colleagues are currently working on wikipedia articles, then that is fine so long as they follow wiki policies; but deletion, change and block are always possibilties, which may have serious effects on examination or assessment results. Essentially what I am saying is that creating an article in wikipedia and needing it to remain unaltered to please an examining body is a very chancy business. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:18, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Anthony

[edit]

thank you very much for your message. my instructor is aware of the limitations of the assignment he gave us. he feels there is a big gap as far as brazilian artists and photographers are concerned as far as wikipedia goes. it seems you do not have enough people to put in all the info wikipedia needs. actually to be able to place any info in wikipedia is so complicated, it requires so much work, he has no idea how you all are able to do it... he is not sure you are a professional or not (meaning does wkipedia pays you to do what you do or are you a retired literature professor who does this for a hobby? many of Diderot's originals were "amateurs"...) but thank you very much for the heads up. very best wishes to you from brazil! ciao

Roberta, there are always going to be gaps in the encyclopedia, although there are now well over 2 million articles in it (English version). Anyone can contribute articles to fill these gaps. Contributors are not paid for their work, and neither are admins; we work on a purely voluntary basis. Neither is a qualification in literature, or indeed anything else, a requirement. See my user page. Happy wikying. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 08:55, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, as you forgot on your recent edit to Claudio Edinger. Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 16:37, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have made an edit that could be regarded as defamatory. Please do not restore this material to the article or its talk page. If you do, you may be blocked for disruption. See the blocking policy. Priyanath talk 04:20, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Autobiography of a Yogi, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Please stop. If you continue to blank out or delete portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did to Autobiography of a Yogi, you will be blocked from editing. Favonian (talk) 11:43, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
